If you use skarmory, you may want to change ferrothorn to a specially defensive variant and use physically defensive skarm because ferrothorn counters opposing water types more reliably with the extra special bulk and you would have skarmory to sponge outrages. Also spdef skarmory has trouble countering what it needs to as shown by these calcs:
