One might ask oneself why Tentacruel isn't better in RBY than it appears to be. It has a very impressive Special stat as well as good Speed and access to Wrap. The Poison typing is a downfall, with weaknesses to the very much used Earthquake and Psychic, and Gengar seems to shut it down. Psychic isn't quite as scary as Earthquake, as Tentacruel should be partially protected from the former by its impressive Special (defence). However, I'd consider Wrap Tentacruel a dangerous threat in RBY, but then again, I may not even know what I'm talking about.
