The 4 EV's do make a difference. It may be small, but sometimes it can be crucial. Especially due to damge's randomness being anywhere between 85%-100% of the full deal. One or two extra HP could make a revenge kill simply because you survived. So no, I do not think they should leave out the 4 EV's in the spread.
