is there any way of transferring a save file from a ROM on the computer to your actual GB cartridge?

I know its do-able in later gens, thats why I ask.

My roommate and I were having a discussion, which led to Unown. He says that in Gold and Silver, Shiny Unown cannot be caught because it is buggy, causing your game to crash. Is that true? I know in Gold and Silver, Shiny-ness is when a Pokemon has 10 IVs in all statistics. The Unown's letter is also determined through IVs, and having an Unown with 10 IVs in all statistics creates a letter "I" Unown. Therefore, if an Unown is shiny, it will be the letter "I". Can it be found in the wild? And if so, does it crash your game?

He probably used Game Shark to found a Shiny wild Pokémon. And since only the I and V forms of Unowns can be Shiny, the game crashed.

I've been trying to catch a Heracross for hours and haven't had any luck. I know that they can be found in mountanous areas along with Spearow and Aipom with Headbutt but does anyone know of any "hot spots" that Heracross show up?

Location: The Trees in Routes 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46
Rarity: Rare

Yeah, if you're checking those areas and still not finding it, then keep trying is all I can tell you to do...

If your version is Crystal, it only appears on routes 33, 42, 44 and Azalea Town. Also, it won't appear on all of the trees.

With the upcoming release of HeartGold/SoulSilver, I have been seeing a lot of Ho oh and Lugia. Now this brought back a certain memory. If I remember correctly, both legendaries could be caught within both games. If it was Gold, Ho oh would be level 40 and Lugia would be level 70, and vice versa. I remember catching a level 70 Ho oh in Silver once. Could you indeed find them both in the game?

Awesome! Hopefully, they'll keep this intact in the remakes. Come to think of it, Gold and Silver started a tradition of having two "must have" Legendaries. Most games followed suit afterward, excluding the fact that you could catch the one within both games.

What are dv's and what do they do in terms of your pokemon's effectiveness? Every time i try to look them up on google it takes me to some page on how EV'S work.

the odd egg, it has 50% of being shiny. I want to reset incase it isn't shiny, is the shinyness (and thus the IVs) and species set when you get it or when it hatches?

Simple explanation: they're the Pokémon genes, and represent the maximum Stat a Pokémon can reach. Higher the DV, higher the Stat can be. Since its GSC, every Stat have their own DV, except Special Attack and Special Defense always have the same DV (so it is called Special DV). Every DV is random calculated when a wild Pokémon appears in the battle, except the HP DV, that is calculated based on the other four DVs. The DV can be a number between 0 and 15. A Pokémon with all DVs equal 15 is called a TOP Pokémon, but those are very rare (the probability to found one in the wild is 1 in 65536).

If you want a more detailed explanation: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/DVs

TBH, the odd egg has a 12,5% chance of being shiny. The IVs and the Species are set when you get the egg, so you need to save the game before pick the egg. Also, the Attack IV of this Shiny is always 2, and if the Pokémon isn't Shiny, all the IVs will be always equal 0.

Oh, ok. thanks .Maguss. So basically insead of Iv's like in RSE, they're dv's that calculate the stat( with a max of 15 instead of 31) thanks for the help

I heard somewhere that in Generation II, unown of the same letter always have the same Hidden Power. Is this true? If so, can anybody tell me which letters have which Hidden Powers?

I found this guide to Unown letters, it depends on DV's/IV's, like Hidden Power does, so I would guess that what you are saying is true, but cannot say for definite.
Here's the site: http://upokecenter.com/games/gs/guides/unown.php
