Here's the thing, though--an avergae of 9.8 pokemon per battle is pretty darn good and seems to indicate that this shouldn't be a HUGE issue. I'll probably do a second run in which I take out any battles that don't have the line:

For more on that topic, I generated a simple script to allow me to get a histogram of number of pokemon used per battle:

As you can see, the fraction of battles with less than seven pokemon (all of which must have been forfeits) is significant (13.5%). I'm going to go ahead and put in my "don't count forfeits before turn six" rule. Note that this won't ELIMINATE that tail, but I expect it to reduce it pretty drastically.

As you can see, that eliminates ALL the battles forfeited at the lead screen (I was very relieved, by the way, to see that Smogon doesn't have 1v1). The average number of pokemon per battle is now a whopping 10.3 (not as big a difference as I was expecting), with only 6.6% of battles only showing six pokemon or less (nice). And how does this change the usage stats? See below:

Even though it's only a day of stats, I am not liking how low Metagross is as this thing would clearly break UU. Celebi is utterly broken in UU and deserves its significant rise. I can't wait for it to leave UU forever.

Woah, if this stays true until the round ends, OU is going to strink a lot, almost by 10 pokemon. It appears the metagame is becoming more cetralized, but dam, I would of never imagined Vaporeon would be UU this gen.

Is that new? I'm pretty sure it's been like that since they replaced NU with RU.

But usage stats (possibly unofficial? I guess the mods will decide that) are indeed coming soon. No guarantees, but I've got working scripts, and Blue Kirby gave me the raw data. I've just got to make sure Python can handle having multiple processes write to the same file, and I can get cranking on the full month.

lol, you're right, no Pokemon are in the NU tier now. ._. Eh, I felt I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Dagnabbit--I was all set to post the August stats, when I noticed that the total battle count was only four times as much as the count for the first day.

Because they changed the names of the friggin' tiers on 8/3...

The worst of it is that, had I realized that was what was wrong, I could have just combined some files, and rerun "Step 6," everything would have been fine, and I'd probably be posting the stats right now.

But I was convinced something was wrong with my script, so I deleted everything before I figured out it was just tier name changes...

[Edit: Oh. I'm only going to be posting usage stats for the five main metagames (Gen V OU, UU, RU, LC, Ubers). Maybe at some point I'll get around to posting the other stuff, but, for instance, my script is going to give wonky results for 1v1 (which I thought wasn't on the server, but it is, albeit in a weird place), VGC and some others, and I want to focus getting the stats up for the active metagames first]

Total usage always used to equal 600% in the days of Doug (I never added up the R_D stats, IIRC, but I'm pretty sure it was the same).
