RELATED TO THE STAT CHARTS ABOVE:
Groudon beating Kyogre in the 1337 stats chart is surprising. I'm fairly relieved to observe that Kyogre is still King of the Uber metagame otherwise. STUFF ONLY SEMI-RELATED TO THE STAT CHARTS AND MY DISAPPOINTMENT IN PARASECT NOT MAKING IT TO TOP 100 ANYWHERE: I'm getting bored of using Parasect exclusively in Ubers. He and Bisharp have done a good share of laughing at many Special walls by using their Physical prowess, as well as just laughing at everything that isn't Ho-Oh (which, oddly enough, I have not seen much of in Ubers). So not only will I use Parasect in Ubers still, but I will also use him in OU. He has a perfectly good niche in OU. In the meantime, I will ensure that Parasect's usage in general increases somehow... perhaps I need to feature him in an Ubers RMT alongside Bisharp and others. |

Surprising to see Groudon at number 3! I guess ubers is being taken over by stall i guess? Stall has to use specialized Kyogre checks though on occasion so I guess it can get kinda messy, but at the very least I associate Groudon with stall more than anything else. Another interesting thing - it's been pretty cool to see Tyranitar's rise in Ubers, now that its all the way in the top 20! Sand teams are becoming more common I guess (or people are realizing that rain isn't the only weather that's usable). Tentacruel is disgustingly high in 1200 stats, kinda showing that people are using stall more since that's really Tentacruel only niche in Ubers (TSpikes + Spin + Rain Dish). Earth Plate Groudon anyone? :P

Well what I often do to take care of Kyogre is lead with Groudon to get Sun up and then go to Ferrothorn to set up Spikes. That ensures that Kyogre's Water Spout isn't a max power the next time it comes in.
I can't say I'm surprised at Groudon's usage. I've being seeing more Sun teams than I have in past months. Choice Specs Reshiram in Sun is just as hard to switch into as Choice Specs Kyogre.

I'm glad to see that change tbh as I starting laddering with my sun team on early Feb. Another thing is, given the rather small active player base on the Smogon server, it is very easy to influence the monthly stats. As in, CCAT had Deoxys-A as chosen poke and it went into top 10, look at its stats now... I can imagine if someone makes a hot thread/RMT about, say, RP Terrakion, its usage would skyrocket in March's stats. I bet sand teams (Exca, TTar, Chomp) would see an increase next month.

I've seen a lot of sun teams over the past month so it isnt surprising.
Oh garchomp, why so low? That base 102 speed makes him so awesome as a scarfer, I can't count how many times I've won because I had a scarfchomp left vs. scarf palkia or +1 rayquaza. |

Seeing as how Groudon is at the top of the 1337 stats I thought I would drop a tip to all you aspiring sun users: use Water-Arceus over Grass-Arceus for your Kyogre check. Water-Arceus also serves the role of switching into MixQuaza, Palkia, and Dialga, and in the sunlight Thunder's 50% accuracy is a lot less threatening. Grass-Arceus is 2hko'd by Fire Blast from LO Dialga and Rayquaza OUTSIDE of sunlight, and all of them can easily 2hko with Fire Blast if the weather is favourable.
It's truly nice to see some 'mons like Gliscor and Dragon, Fighting, and Ground typed Arceus Formes being used. These 'mons definitely deserve more attention, as Gliscor is a massive headache for any team with at least one defensive 'mon or Groudon. SubCM Dragon-Arceus WILL 6-0 many teams. CM Fighting-Arceus busts up your standard Rain core of Dialga / Ferrrothorn / Kyogre (but has trouble with Gira-A / Tentacruel, obviously), if Kyogre is weakened enough; but obviously it's main niche is that it's a CM-Arceus that completely destroys Ferrothorn and Dialga. An interesting round of stats. Also, @ above Garchomp is still decent this generation, but its scarf set is not the way to go. Terrakion has taken the throne as the premier Ubers Physical scarfer due to its ability to bust up Ferrothorn, check EKiller and having a wonderful base speed and attack stat with powerful STABs to boot. If you want to use ol' chompy this gen I would recommend SubSD in Sand @ Lefties, SD Haban + 3 attacks, or for the adventures - Sub LO, which packs monstrous amounts of power (think Excadrill levels).

The rise of Groudon may be due to trickroom showing off classic stall again, as well as Reshiram taking centre stage for Ubers CCAT mark II. For sun teams, I personally think Palkia is good enough of a Kyogre check who can work in both sun and rain. Grass Arceus is absolutely horrible, especially when I put Reshiram onto my rain team and suicide my Kyogre just so I can completely stomp your sun team with Reshiram =). Latias is another cool Kyogre check that can fit on a sun team (it was the specific example that I gave in the analysis of a situation where Latias > Grass Arceus).
On the topic of Garchomp, CB is also a good set to run. Nothing sticks the finger at Ferrothorn, who would normally switch-in without fear at all, better than a 2HKO with Earthquake.

I definitely agree with Shrang, if you're using a Sun team Palkia is definitely the best choice as most Sun teams are offensive anyway. Also yes, I think rise of Groudon is twofold due to Classic Stall as well as CCAT mach 2. Though the 1337 usage jump is Groudon usage is actually quite huge it jumped from 15 to 1 o_0
Also sad to see Skarmory usage drop but its probably due to Reshiram being pimped. Curiously also Arceus Ghost usage dropped by 6 places. I can't exactly say why but its probably due to popularity of Giratina and stall in general. Finally Arceus-Water dropped entirely out of 1337 stats as well ?!? Reason, again I can't say since it just seems arbritary.
