HP:85 Atk:105 Def:100 SpA:79 SpD:83 Spe:78 Dragon Dance Feraligatr Item:Life Orb Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Waterfall - Ice Punch - Crunch/Superpower This is the standard Feraligatr set. After a single dragon dance boost, Feraligatr reaches 463 attack and enough speed to outspeed base 120's, such as Alakazam and Dugtrio. Waterfall is an insanely powerful move in the rain, always scoring the 2HKO on Skarmory, the premier physical wall of OU. Ice punch is for grass and dragon types that resist Waterfall, and Also receives the sheer force boost. The last moveslot is up for grabs, Crunch can help provide super effective damage on pokemon such as jellicent and slowbro, and it receives the boost from sheer force. The famous Water/ Dark/ Ice coverage also performs very well in the dream world. Superpower can be chosen as an option to help from being walled by empoleon and keldeo, but the attack drop is counterproductive to the Dragon dance, and the defense drop leaves Feraligatr open to revenge killing by breloom. Also, those threats are 2HKOd after a couple of boosts by waterfall anyways. Team Options & Additional Comments >>> Feraligatr works best in the rain, so drizzle support provided by Politoed is much appreciated. Dual screens support is also appreciated to make it easier for Feraligatr to set up. This can be provided by Espeon, who can also prevent hazards from crippling Feraligatr. Feraligatr also appreciates hazard support, which can be provided by Ferrothorn, who has great synergy with Feraligatr in the Rain. Swords Dance Feraligatr Item:Life Orb Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Swords Dance - Aqua Jet - Waterfall / Return - Ice Punch This Feraligatr functions as more of a wall breaker, or late game sweeper. Swords dance and Aqua jet are the crux of this set. Swords dance boosts Feraligatr's attack to insane levels, while aqua jet circumvents the lack of speed investment to take out low health pokes. Waterfall is the main option on this set, receiving the sheer force boost and STAB, along with rain boost (if available) while return can be used instead if you want to have a way to get past bulky waters, such as Slowbro. Ice punch is chosen to take out grass types that resist it's STAB water moves, such as Virizion or Roserade. The EV's are set to outspeed standard bulky base 100's with 16 speed EV's, while Attack is maxed out for maximum power, and the rest are dumped into HP to compliment it's decent bulk. Team Options & Additional Comments >>> As with the first set, Feraligatr loves rain support, as it powers up it's STAB moves greatly, making Politoed the prime option fora teammate. This set is also walled by bulky waters, such as vaporen, so Strong electric attackers, such as raikou can help eliminate them for a sweep. Raikou also can be a great teammate on a rain team, absorbing electric attacks and retaliating with STAB thunder. Other Options: Feraligatr can attempt to run a bulky dragon dance set, but without significant attack and speed investment, it wont be hitting hard even after a couple of boosts. A choice scarf set can be run consisting of Waterfall Ice Punch Crunch and Return, but it sorely misses the power from life orb. Rock slide deserves a mention, as it receives the sheer force boost and has the ability to OHKO Gyarados at +1, who can be troublesome. Earthquake is also an option, however it doesn't offer too much more coverage. I encourage you all to try out Feraligatr, it is sure to become a huge threat in the metagame. If you guys have any suggestions, or your own set you would like included in the analysis, please post! Thanks for reading! Last edited by jap killa; Mar 14th, 2012 at 8:23:24 PM. |

rock slide probably needs at least OO, last time I checked it gets 126 base power and can OHKO gyrados after one DD.

See my analysis for what Feraligatr is good at doing in the DW metagame.

Whatevs sig. QC member for OU and Ubers, VM me for a look at your analysis. Just make sure it's good. Also, if you want me to rate your team (OU/DW OU/Ubers), give me a VM. If I don't rate it, it's either 1) it's so shit it's too much trouble, 2) I'm busy, or 3) the team is fantastic and I have nothing I can suggest to you. You should be able to recognise which one. Feraligatr can be a beast given the right support, and I really like him. His ability to take down Excadrill if he can get a boost somehow is beautiful for rain teams, and I want to see more usage not only in DW OU, but BW OU as well. Torrent isn't THAT bad.

Don't worry bro, shrang's just linking to his analysis, this thread is a discussion thread, they are completely different, so feel free to continue to discuss things about Feraligatr :)
