This guy uses a Slakoth and soloes the entire game without evolving. What a boss.

Take the Absol who helps you during your run away from the village. This Absol is obsessed with ASB Combos, and thus may ONLY have moves that are linked together. Moves that are not linked cannot be used (you can manually set what moves it can use). Just a quick summary of how it can be laid out:

2 2-move combos OR 1 3-move combo OR 1 4-move combo

Additionally, this Absol must be on the front lines instead of sitting in the rear for every battle against a pokemon not obtainable in ASB. In ASB there is no hunger system, either, so after you get Absol you must soft reset the game every time you reach 0 belly, no exceptions. Otherwise you'll confuse the poor thing so much.

Finally, postgame (if you're even playing it), he catches on that this is a game about exploring. So send him through the Purity Forest, where you are only allowed to bring one pokemon with no items or gold, and they start at Level 1. At the 99th floor, you get to recruit Celebi with no boss battle whatsoever, but that's because the dungeon IS the boss battle. This challange is mandatory if you are playing postgame; if not, just ignore this part.

I hate thinking of new challanges...so I'll just keep this post as a compendium of sorts: I'll just pull challanges from here.

1st Gen:

Hitmonchan

---

Take BS Special the Hitmonchan.

Hitmonchan knows that it got trolled hard. Seriously, it gets the elemental punches off a Base 35 Special. Base 35 Special. Therefore, it wants to fix its worst stat. Every time it enters a major battle (Giovanni, Rival, Gym Leader), it must use an X-Special if you have one. If you do not have one, it may not participate in the battle. Also, max out its Special with Calciums ASAP. Despite all this, however, at the end of the day it still has an awe-inspiring Base 35 Special, which still can't do shit. It tries to solo Sabrina, but fails miserably. Too bad. Now it hates all Special attackers, but it hates them with fear, so it may not battle any trainer Pokemon with a Base Special higher than their Base Attack. However, it wants to prove itself to the master of all Special attackers, so have it solo Mewtwo. If you succeed, you have no more restrictions. If you fail, solo 50 Flying-type Pokemon, then solo the entire Elite Four and Champion with Hitmonchan in a rematch.

2nd Gen:

Chikorita

---

Take Persistent the Chickorita. Let's face it, Chickorita got a really bad in-game typing, especially in Gold/Silver where it is weak/not very effective against 6 out of 8 gyms. (Morty counts here because his Pokemon are all part Poison.) However, Chickorita is not letting typing stop it, so it must solo 3 of these 5 Johto gyms: Falkner, Bugsy, Jasmine, Pryce, and Clair. It may also never be your lowest leveled Pokemon. It may also never enter battle against a Water, Rock, or Ground type until it completes these solos.

Chickorita believes that healing items are super cheap, so it cannot use healing itmes at all. It also may never use X-items or any PP restoring items or berries except in Gym Leader solos.

Chikorita is not like its relatives Venusaur or Torterra; it is purely Grass. Therefore, it must learn 2 Grass-type moves ASAP. It must also learn 2 non-attacking moves, since Grass-types are generally peaceful. Speaking of peaceful, you must solo every Team Rocket executive you meet with Chickorita since they are upsetting the peace.

Chikorita also has a huge grudge against Poison-types, and so it must solo every trainer-owned Poison-type, outside of Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.

The situation with the gym types gets worse in Kanto. To prove itself worthy of being on your team, Chikorita must not participate in the battles against Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge, or Blue's Rhydon. It must also solo Erika to prove itself as the authority of Grass-types, and it also must solo Both Janine and Blaine. If you fail to do this, you may not use Persistent against Red.

You must also solo Lance the second time around. Solo both Janine and Blaine in a rematch. Then, if Persistent has not broken any restrictions, it may battle as many of Red's Pokemon as you wish. If it has broken 1 restriction, it cannot fight one of Red's Pokemon. (The exception to that is the Kanto rule, which if you break does not allow you to battle Red with Persistent) If you have broken 2 restrictions, you can only fight 3 of Red's Pokemon. If you have broken more than two restrictions, you may not battle Red at all. If you are allowed to battle Red, solo Red's Charizard.

Do not evolve it, ever.

3rd Gen:

Slakoth

---

Take OVER 9000 the Slakoth. This Slakoth is unlike all other Slakoth, its power level is OVER 9000!!!! However, at the point when you catch him, he will be a Slakoth, still trying to build up his power. Now, Slakoth is super lazy, as he does not want to waste his power too soon, so he must not fight in any Gym battles until he evolves. He also refuses to use any moves over 60 Base Power.

When he evolves into Vigoroth, he is hyperactive. Therefore, he must finish every wild battle. He must also participate in every Gym battle until evolving again. Still, Vigoroth refuses to use any moves over 100 BP, as he still has one more evolution.

Upon evolving into Slaking, it learns to make full use of its power, of which it has a lot. Go back and teach it Focus Punch, by TM or Heart Scale (Vigoroth learns it.). When you reach Lilycove, you gain access to TM 15-Hyper Beam. Teach it to Slaking at once, and have him use it to solo Tate and Liza. After witnessing the battle of the legends, Slaking realizes that it has their power, and wants to live up to that. It must now only have moves over 60 BP. (60 BP is acceptable.) When you reach the Elite Four, it is worn out and refuses to battle until Wallace (the champion, not the 8th Gym Leader). When battling Wallace, it must solo Milotic and one other Pokemon, using only Hyper Beam. After that, it has exhausted its power. It must now use two status moves, and forget Hyper Beam. Slaking will stay this way for the rest of your run.

4th Gen:

Bidoof

---

You get lolwut the Bidoof.

Your Bidoof must be the first one that you catch that has the ability Unaware. As a Bidoof, it progresses through life carelessly. Whenever Bidoof is in the lead position, you may not stop to pick up items, and you must go in a straight line as much as possible, because Bidoof hates sightseeing. When it blunders into the battle against Maylene only to be KOed before landing a single hit, it becomes more careful. To this end, it evolves to try to change its ability. (PS: It would be cool if it had a Careful nature.) Now it must stop to get every item and battle every trainer when it leads your party. You must also stop to grind for 5 minutes every time you enter a new Route. It tries to calculate the consequences of every move. This works out well when battling Byron, but it forgets to factor in hax, and you get taken down by Steelix after taking a crit. It now realizes that it never pays to be too careful, so all restrictions are now void, except that you have to now solo either Candice or Volkner, as it spent this whole run without a solo.

Meditite

---

Take Safe the Meditite.

Safe the Meditite believes it is good to be safe. Therefore, he decides to only use 100% accurate moves, and he must be healed whenever he falls below 50% health. Why is he this way? Well, his father was caught in Hoenn by a Nuzlocker, and later died against Wallace because his Hi Jump Kick missed. So Safe's mother and himself moved to Sinnoh. However, even in Sinnoh, other wild Meditite were constantly bullying Safe for refusing Hi Jump Kick, because they would use it later. While looking for Safe, you encounter Leader Maylene, who catches her Meditite, one of the leaders of the group of bullies always taunting Safe. Safe must solo 25 wild Meditite and Maylene's Meditite to evolve. Upon evolution, Safe learns that it is not always good to be safe, so rename him Risky. He must now only use moves without 100% Accuracy. He must also learn Hi Jump Kick ASAP. However, Risky fails to solo Candice because Hi Jump Kick misses on Sneasel. Rename him Balanced. It must forget Hi Jump Kick, and it must have 2 moves with 100% Accuracy, and 2 moves with less than 100% Accuracy. He must also have one Special, one Physical, and one non-Attacking move. He also has a hatred for Hi Jump Kick, so whenever an opponent uses Hi Jump Kick, barring conflicting solos, Balanced must solo that Pokemon.

Shuckle

---

Take UberKle the Shuckle. This Shuckle believes that Shuckles should be Uber, so he tries to prove himself. As a result, he must gain 252 HP EVs ASAP, and he must only fight trainer Pokemon that have a Smogon Uber analysis. This rule is lifted for all mandatory solos and wild Pokemon. However, Shuckle has some weird syndrome, the only non-attacking move he may use is Defense Curl, and he must have Defense Curl+Rollout ASAP. However, that restriction does not last forever. To lift certain restrictions, complete the Gauntlet:

1. Balls of Steel: Solo Jasmine. Unlocks all non-attacking moves except Stealth Rock, Encore, Substitute, Toxic, and Rest.
2. (depending on game) Master of Status/Ultimate Wall: Solo Ho-Oh/Lugia. Unlocks Toxic/Rest.*
3. Greater than the Greatest: Solo Lance. Unlocks Substitute.
4. (depending on game) Master of Status/Ultimate Wall: Solo Ho-Oh/Lugia. Unlocks Toxic/Rest.*
5. Conquering the Trio: Unlocks Encore. Has three parts:
a. Frozen World: Solo Articuno.
b. What a Shocker!: Solo Zapdos.
c. That Burning Desire!: Solo Moltres.
6. A New Hero: Solo Red. Unlocks Stealth Rock.
7. Mewtation: Solo Mewtwo. All restrictions are lifted.

Tropius

---

Take TropiOUs the Tropius.

This Tropius believes that he is OU. Therefore, he must solo 20 Pokemon that are in DPP OU. He must also solo your rival twice, because none of his Pokemon, bar Heracross, are OU, and he wants to convert everything into OU. In order to do that, he must solo Candice's Gym, barring the Leader, to prove himself OU. He must also solo Aaron's team bar Heracross, to try to get them to be OU. Since he is OU, he must not know any TMs, because they are not OU. He must also learn 4 moves of 4 different types, two of which must be Hidden Power and Toxic.

5th Gen:

Ferroseed

---

Take Delicacy the Ferroseed.

This poor Ferroseed fell into Chargestone Cave by chance through a time machine from a time when durians are popular delicacies for Pokemon, and poor little Ferroseed knows that he looks like a durian, in fact, he was being chased by three Litwick, because the cook at the Poke-restaurant mistook him for a durian and served hhim to the Pokemon. As a result, he is mortally afraid of anything that might eat him for dinner, namely Fire-types. He must not fight any Fire-types. Indeed, for a while, he may never land the finishing blow on any Pokemon that does not have an STAB resisted by Ferroseed. However, that all changes upon soloing 5 Pokemon of each type that Ferroseed resists. Evolve him ASAP. Rename him Poisoned. Since no one wants to eat him anymore, he thinks that he's poisoned. He tries to blend in with Poison-types, but they fear him. The real reason he is not being eaten is because he no longer looks like a durian. Once he solos 10 Poison-types, he finds this out. Rename him Great Wall, and have him solo 15 Litwick. Now you have no more restrictions.

Pawniard

---

Take Voldemort the Pawniard.

When you catch him, Voldemort has fled his family for reasons unknown to you. Not knowing what to do with him, you trade him to your Pokemon White version. This must be done before Elesa. He sees Elesa and rages, because he didn't quite know what to do against Electric-types. Therefore, he must solo Elesa. Congrats, you now have a murderer on your hands. Attempt to solo Clay. If you fail, you must release one of your Pokemon. (Does not have to be a Scramblemon.) Then, have him solo 25 of that Pokemon you just released. If you solo Clay, you have no more restrictions for the rest of the run.

Voldemort believes that he is the ultimate spellcaster, and so you must have Hidden Power on his movepool. You must only have one Physical attack. It wants to be the best Special Attacker, so solo 20 Litwick, with Hidden Power unless your type is Fighting. Then, if you did not solo Clay earlier, you must now complete the Gauntlet, to void all your restrictions and allow you to evolve.

THE GAUNTLET:

-Glacier slow: Solo all trainers in Brycen's Gym, excluding Brycen. Do not OHKO any of those Pokemon.
-Hax kid: Solo 10 Axew.
-Inner Kung Fu: Solo 15 Fighting-types with Hidden Power.
-Friends or Enemies: Solo 15 wild Pawniard.
-Dragon Master: Solo Iris.

No matter what you do, you cannot void the next restriction, which is to solo Ghestis's impostor Bisharp.

Take ICBB the Sigilyph.

Sigilyph is mad at the RU council trying to ban it, because it's perfectly happy sweeping teams in RU. Therefore, it refuses to battle any Pokemon not in RU or lower, because then it would be battling outside of its own tier. It must also solo 10 RU Pokemon ASAP. However, Sigilyph has no intention of getting banned from the tier, so it refuses to be too broken, that is, it refuses to learn Cosmic Power, Stored Power, or Calm Mind. Upon soloing Clay's Excadrill without a super-effective move, Sigilyph learns that an RU Pokemon can be used in any tier except NU. Therefore, Sigilyph now refuses to battle any Pokemon that does not have a Smogon RU analysis. All other Pokemon may be battled. Solo Grimsley.

Elgyem

---

Take Integral the Elgyem.

Like me, Integral prefers to work with integers. It also happens to know a lot about type effectiveness and STAB. It wants to keep all its BP integral, because it absolutely hates fractions. Therefore, any move it has must have a Base Power divisible by 4, to ensure that the BP stays integral even against 4x resists. Any STAB it has must have a BP divisible by 8, because the STAB multiplier is 3/2, adding an extra factor of two that must be compensated for. When Integral evolves, it realizes that in Pokemon, everything is rounded down, so it cannot hope to make anything integral. With that said, it gets into a rage, and it must solo 1 Elite Four member's Pokemon. After that, it has no more restrictions.

Darumaka

---

You get CDIMKII (Can'tdoit Mark II) the Darumaka.

Sound easy? Well, Darumaka is a Fire-type. He wants to stick with Fire-type moves. Therefore, he must only have one non-Fire type attacking move. Sound easy still? Well, he has some weird syndrome where he thinks he'll be walled hard by Skarmory, so he is going to stick with Special attacking. Any Physical attack Darumaka learns must be under 60 BP and must not be Fire-type. You think you can just stick him in the Daycare? Too bad. You have to solo Skyla's whole team, including Swanna, with Fire-type Special attacks, for fear that Skarmory is on her team. I'll be nice. I'll let you evolve it after that solo. However, if you do evolve it, you must now solo Opelucid Gym (excluding Drayden), as well as Reshiram once, with only a Fire-type Special move, and it must be the same one throughout.

GLHF. (Well OK I can't say the HF part.)

Hate to break it to you Arceustar, but your party is always there until you complete the game, so you can't really "solo" anything.

Maybe change that restriction? For Professor's sake?

Yes, but they can still get attacked and you also can't control the Zangoose unless he's the leader. Don't have any Pokèmon solo in PMD, it's too hard.

Holy crap Skarm, that IS dark. I'm kind of scared as to what'll happen next. The idea that Pokemon training goes on even though death is so common does demand some explanation though... no wonder Jhoto tried to ban it. Hell, if it were really like that I'd probably be with Plasma. I'm starting to sense you might hit on some real emotions with this story of yours.

anyway, guess I should give a quick update on how mine is coming. I didn't play at all today, after work I decided to battle on Smogon's PO server then when I got too tired to think clearly I just read some Cracked articles and helped my mom with supper. Tomorrow I'll get started on it though; however it'll still probably take a couple days to put out, between work, my lack of energy and the fact there's actually a fair bit of end-game stuff to get through. I should have it out by the end of the week though, and then I'll open up submissions for my Black Scramble.

Very nice update, Skarm. ^_^ Pokémon is quite a bit darker then you remember from your childhood, eh? It would probably be just like this if it was real, with giant dragons and dream-stealing ape things, shooting off godly meteors and assaults from their minds to kill other Pokémon and Trainers, all at the whims of a few psychopaths. Keep it up, this shows to be very promising. Yours is a fair bit darker then even mine is, because even though I do have a few deaths and whatnot, I'm still not hitting the war aspect of it, where you hit to kill. Even I'm a bit worried to see what you've got coming up next, and you've all seen my writing. If this was really what was happening, I would side with Team Plasma and N in a heartbeat, although Ghetsis is an obvious exception since he too sought to exploit Pokémon for his own ends.

Thanks for the support guys! I actually had to write this thing twice, because while I was writing it the first time I accidentally quit Chrome, forcing me to rewrite it. But now that I finally got it out, I'm glad I could get people talking.

Unfortunately, I'm getting on a plane tomorrow afternoon to go to England for spring break. I'm uncertain of my internet access while I'm there, and I definitely don't want to write an update on my iPod while I'm there (that would be painful). But I will try to push out another update for Ruby and/or Platinum before I leave. At least the plane will allow me to get ahead in the game so I can get a backlog going.

no pokemon can "solo" liza and tate. you must have at least 2 pokemon.

I object to this, having soloed the two with a Mudkip myself (The other mon was constantly either switched out/Used to heal Mudkip while he attacked).

Ehh, sorry Arceustar, but I'm not going to accept this. Firstly, it learns only two non-STAB moves by level-up, those being Fury Cutter and Pursuit, both of which are pretty weak. Since TMs are relatively scarce in PMD, if I just have to go through with those two then it will be far too hard for me. Also, almost every fully evolved pokemon is capable of learning Hyper Beam, including Groudon. This is clearly a contradiction, and besides I'm not going to use it to only fight NFEs. Also, it would be ridiculously hard to make Zangoose get the last hit in, since there aren't any HP bars for enemies. Sorry, but this is rejected.

Geeze, may was kind of cold about the prospect of the death there. I'm seeing some conflict bubbling up between these old friends...
