we should really see if some of the people that made these teams would be willing to write descriptions for them and perhaps contribute some more teams... it's already obvious that we won't be including everything posted in this thread but we should probably get some more teams in here before we actually start deciding what stays and what goes and until that point descriptions aren't TOO important. it's not like we're on a clock here, some initiative is all that's needed. someone should also get jabba's team in here since it's pretty significant. descriptions will be much more important after we have a bigger pool of teams to work with and for whatever teams are still missing descriptions later on we an write them up ourselves if necessary.

I think you're just being sarcastic but I'll bite.

So the stall team was really problematic and difficult to use, zapdos as a lone phazer is definitely problematic. Basically, I had to do a merry little dance each time I faced an FB curselax. Tbh, any curselax should've gave me trouble in retrospect, but people were a lot dumber as a whole back then. Basically, if you hit for ineffective damage, they'd switch out, despite the fact that Forretress doesn't really do anything to stop lax's sweep anyway. I owe it's success to just poorer competition. Quagsire was really weird, I think I used it as a joltwak stop and an HP legend wall, since like the spread was 50% HP ice, 44% hp water, 1% hp grass, and 5% hp dark for the electrics, so Quagsire had a free wall. Plus it could EQ jolts and surf waks, and haze shit. Also, there wasn't a DT ban yet, so yeah, that got annoying. I had a personal grudge against using curselax or something, that's the only explanation I have for running mixlax, FT cause everyone was ultra-conservative.

Also, Blissey had light screen and IB, not FT toxic.

The tenta nido kou sa skarm etc team was actually a bit later, I think towards the middle-end of 2003. I dont remember the exact date, but there was a huge influx of very very similar teams. I can't even really say it's my team since everyone ran the same thing, with a different Nido/lax set. That was the only variation. Kou, starmie, SA skarm, tenta, nido, everyone who's anyone had it. I think the only difference I made was that Surf was the popular choice at the time, and I went with Hpump. And tbolt was the choice for nido, and I went with Thunder; Thunder was only ever acceptable on lax was the case, and hpump is shit. Apparently. Either way, I'm certain havoc, flameout/dwash, bob, <random namedrop here>, all had this team. Bob ran rest over sub on tenta, and FT/toxic lax I think, that was his variation. And he didn't use nido, something about NYPC or some junk. I don't remember what the others had, but definitely kou lax skarm nido tenta. And tbh, it wasn't taht special at all. The idea is you really had to luck out with SA against FB laxes. And the offense was really disjointed in retrospect. Tentacruel was widely considered unstoppable if used correctly, but now I don't even see how that idea ever came about. But again, skarmbliss was considered unstoppable, and to many extents, bannable. Tentacruel was one of the "few" known skarmbliss counters, go figure. Also, I ran starmie for the specific purpose of countering tenta, food for thought I guess. Oh and Nido was THE "vet" poke, seriously, pretty sure it was the #1 lead.

It was successful for the same reason the previous shoddy stall team was successful, because other people just sucked MORE. Those 6 are acceptably OU, even by today standards (not so much tenta anymore). But literally when 87% of the people you play are using lanturns and stuff, you're going to get a LOT of wins, and nido swept teams for fun. People back then were less inclined to switch (think gameboy gameplay), so if you send nido and they send in lanturn thinking surf is going to kill you faster than EQ will kill it, it makes for pretty straight forward battles. Every once in a while you play a mirror match with someone who knows what they're doing, and they're really just... pointless matches. Ultimately luck is the decider, and throughout the battle you make pointless predictions... just because. There's no real sense of direction, then someone gets lucky and the battle is over. A lot of egos were hurt back then.

That growthvap team started as an inspiration from the growtheon team, which I don't entirely remember anymore. I know there was AA armor growth surf vap, growth psychic morning sun espeon, growth hp water tbolt jolteon, leech seed psychic recover pass celebi (this is so money), de thunder surf rest lax, and "something". I wanna say ST zapdos to save my own face on such an NOT obsolete team, but I'm pretty certain it was charcoal sday fblast moltres. That makes it more awesome though if anything. This was probably my most successful teams in terms of just sheer wins and stuff, and just how ridiculously easy it was to win. No one knew how to stop something like this. And I don't think there's really a way, celebi really made that team super solid against most things, leech seed serving as phaze. This is where I garnered some kind of reputation on bob's battledome server sicne it would basically non-stop announce who has the highest win streak etc, but there was this other fucker, God I wish I remembered his name... bassie????? Either way he was a mod too, and he took this streak thing wayyy too seriously. No specs battle, kick people when he's about to lose his streak, etc. So one time, just for kicks, I spoofed a name, played him, was about to win, then he tried to kick me but couldn't since we ahd the same auth, then ever since then he's hated me forever. Oops side tracked.

So yea, then the vap team. It was a combination of the only two successful offense teams ever at the time, which was growth + explosion. Mixed sweepers didn't exist really, apart from nido. Dnite was a hazer (til 05), ttar was a curse roarer, the yang to skarm's yin. The other half of curselax wall at best. Drumlax was gimmicky. So basically, explosion was all you got. And everyone has their take on it too. By far the most popular was 4-5 exploders + last poke curselax. And by this time, there were some other well established teams, so the whole team building thing took on more thought, instead of OUs and covering defensive gaps. Vil had his celebi, rhydon, raichu, cloyster, machamp, umbreon team. Which I still like to this day. I bounced ideas off a couple people, the whole synergy thing kinda clicked when vil was explaining stuff. Figured out bait-explosion here, and pursuittar + monolax (monolax was almost unheard of), mean look explosion gengar was a gimmick set that really just worked so it stuck. And vap just trolled people hard core. No one expects anything out of well-known hazer role. So many easy wins. Snorlax was acutally very underperforming here, I can't beleive I didn't change it earlier, but yeah, lax was relegated to just a sleeper role, and last poke lax at best.

I've seen Tiba use a version of the Tenta team that seemed like it might've been Bob's take on it at some point (maybe slightly modified). Misdreavus > Nidoking (Rest Missy ofc), probably because poo on NYPCs but also likely because of what you said about FB Lax; and Blissey > Raikou, probably to give Heal Bell support for that Resting Tenta. There's other smaller changes, such as Reflect Starmie, Toxic Skarm, and Curse + 3 Attack Lax (though the Lax set apparently varied a lot anyway).

Misdreavus handles the FB Curselax weak, and Bliss gives Heal Bell support to the Rest Tenta. Having a Rest-less Lax works well with Blissey and Light Screen support. It's a pretty solid team with mixed offense that's not nearly as hard to set up as drumlax, yet is still very defensive.

This team can use Marowak > Tenta too. It's Ice beam > Toxic on Blissey.

I'm using Confuse Ray/Attract on Miss and some times Lovely Kiss > Fire Blast on Lax. Skarmory and Misdreavus are femeale.

After being somewhat reluctant, I decided to post two teams I consider two of the best teams I've made with Halloween. Since we both won't play ADV competitively anymore, this is kind of a 'goodbye' for both of us as we don't care about our EV spreads being stolen and such. Enjoy the [GJ] teams!

PS.: I consider almost everything in the first team something created by me and Halloween, so if you disagree we can discuss on irc or via PM, but please, the only thing I ask is to respect my opinion.

However, you will need a lot of prediction to beat physical offense. Forry is the poke who sets up Spikes, uses Rapid Spin and checks stuff like CM Celebi and Jynx (and HP Bug also helps vs Claydol). Swampert is the team's main answer to DDers and a lot of Choice Banders. Zapdos' role is to counter pokémon like Suicune, Gyarados, TyraniBoah, Subs and/or BP teams, and it's always good to have a phazer if your team includes Spikes, and its trait, Pressure, is great against opposing stall teams. Blissey is the special wall + cleric, and it forms the classic RestBell. Thunder Wave deals with CMers that lack Rest / 404 subs (such as SuperCune, SupeRachi, SuperLebi, Sub + CM Raikou) and it also helps against some Choice Banders or DDers that tend to switch-in against Blissey. Gengar blocks Rapid Spin, and also adds an important Fighting Immunity to the team (making it the best switch-in for Heracross), sweeps late-game, works like a last ditch attempt against CM BLissey and Adamant DD Tyranitar, and it's also my only way of defeating Rest + Curse Snorlax. Mixed Tyranitar is a neat stallbreaker that, with Spikes support, can sweep unprepared teams. Its main role, though, is to trap Gengars, easing Forretress' task. On Tyranitar, using Earthquake over Fire Blast is also an acceptable option, because of CMWish Rachis, but it kinda loses its stallbreaking ability. I actually made it in late 2004 (just before the Smogon site went up) to try out a mysterious pokemon set called Tyraniboah. It is pretty outdated now so I wouldn't recommend actually using it... Gengar (M) @ Leftovers Marcus Garvey Trait: Levitate EVs: 156 Atk / 180 Spd / 172 SAtk Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Explosion - Hypnosis - Ice Punch - Thunderbolt Pretty standard offensive gengar. I know other people favored a more defensive gar but I like this dude's power on this team. Explosion is a nice fail safe -- for example in my st3 game against husk he managed to cm pass to zapdos very early in the game who would've swept me if not for explosion. In general though I usually used it on celebi/blissey/suicune who are all a bit annoying for this team. Hypnosis is a cruel mistress but is invaluable in certain situations. Swampert (M) @ Leftovers Michael Moore Trait: Torrent EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 108 SAtk / 52 SDef Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Earthquake - Ice Beam - Rest - Sleep Talk First water, I used two waters on this team because ddmence/ddtar were quite popular around this time. A lot of teams would just focus on weakening the water type and setting up a dd sweep. I used swampert a bit more recklessly than milotic, switching it into any potential status moves or to scout out a moveset. Milotic (M) @ Leftovers Dasani Trait: Marvel Scale EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 16 Spd / 56 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Light Screen - Recover - Surf Milotic is a fine, fine lady. LS Milotic + skarm is a nice little combo. With LS up skarm can get a layer or two on stuff like mixlax, mix metagross, hpump swampert. In addition, LS is nice for letting tyranitar set up on non-swampert waters and zapdos. Flygon (M) @ Leftovers Sierra Mist Trait: Levitate EVs: 80 HP / 224 Atk / 16 Def / 180 Spd / 8 SDef Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Screech - Substitute Flygon actually wasn't very popular in early 386 but its usage rose quite a bit once people started pairing it with Swampert to wall electrics. Also people realized that stab eq is a nice way to weaken waters. Sub/screech is pretty outdated now but it worked pretty well then. Screech is nice for last poke curselax -- one of the most problematic adv pokemon. Nowadays I would use sub + 3 attack or 4 attack. The EVs are supposed to do something but I forgot... I think I got em from lexay. Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers MIKE JONES Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Taunt - Rock Slide - Earthquake The boss. This was originally boah but I made the switch to taunt/dd for st3. I just really liked the ability of this bad boy to checkmate teams late game. I try not to bring this out early/mid game to avoid people saving their dugtrio for it. Dugtrio does nothing to the rest of this team so people will often sac it to something. Taunt/dd is little outdated now I think, I would use dd hp bug w/ a lum. Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers Harry Truman Trait: Keen Eye EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spd Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Hidden Power [Flying] - Rest - Spikes - Whirlwind the tauros stops here metagross/cloyster team This is the team I won warthog's murkrow cup tournament (bo3 advance) with. I also used it in SPL1 against jabba, goofball and aeolus. Metagross @ Choice Band Trait: Clear Body EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Explosion - Meteor Mash - Rock Slide rock slide is the best 4th move on cbgross. the extra speed is nice for surprising stuff, i've considered jolly but adamant mash is so dam strong. leading with cbgross is nice because you can double switch to cloyster on the skarm/forry/swampert/suicune/milotic switch-in. There is only one rule you must follow when using cbgross -- you cannot switch out once you get an attack boost... you go down mashing Cloyster (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shell Armor EVs: 252 HP / 40 SAtk / 216 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Explosion - Ice Beam - Rapid Spin - Spikes dugtrio/magneton teams were really popular around this time, cloyster puts the clamps on such anti-spikes shenanigans (not literally of course, this isn't rby...). Team is built around overpowering the other team with the CMers. I didn't throw Raikou in the mix because I think the resistances and bulk of the 3 i used is far preferable to the extra speed on Raikou. The other 3 Pokemon try to balance out the back end as best as possible. Duggy to trap Blissey or Jirachi if I can, Ttar to provide some Physical support and sand (which makes killing Lax 10x easier), and Swampert as a pivot mon and DDmence counter. Suicune @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Surf - Ice Beam - Hidden Power [Electric] - Calm Mind Suicune leads because that aren't that many lead matchups that are bad for it. Also if you can get a free CM on turn one, you'll find out your opponent's only answer to Suicune is bulky Zapdos which is then outsped and 2hkoed, giving you the early advantage. Celebi @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 104 HP / 252 SAtk / 152 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Hidden Power [Fire] - Giga Drain - Psychic - Calm Mind Celebi does work. It could also lead if you want to, but I like saving it for some later game work, or to make sure I have it to switch into Swampert later in the game. Also nice about Celebi is that if i get a kill with it, the opponent will then reveal Duggy to kill it and lock itself into HP Bug, which gives me the opportunity to kill their Duggy with my Duggy, which really opens up Jirachi late game. Jirachi @ Leftovers Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Psychic - Ice Punch - Hidden Power [Grass] Superachi is amazing. I don't like fire punch all too much, Psychic is nice for dropping like 30% on Snorlax and with sand up and a couple special drops, you can actually beat cmless/twaveless Blissey, which is obviously a useful perk. Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Arena Trap EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Hidden Power [Bug] - Aerial Ace Standard trio, none of that soft sand shit that Floppy uses. Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Dragon Dance - Earthquake - Rock Slide - Hidden Power [Bug] I alternate b/w hp bug and taunt on this one. They both have their uses, but I go with HP bug most of the time. I like hp evs on my ddtar, so i took out of speed and left it with enough to outspeed neutral base 100s. The hp lets it survive Dugtrio eqs with max health (most?) of the time. Swampert (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Torrent EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Protect - Surf - Earthquake - Ice Beam Standard Swampert. If you're a fan of resttalk or just rest pert I'd recommend it for the longevity that you need. I don't like it though so I'm just more careful around mons that might have hp grass. __________________

Tour 12 Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 188 SAtk / 68 Spd Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd) - Fire Blast - Hidden Power [Grass] - Pursuit - Rock Slide Lead Tyranitar is a tough cover for other teams with its abundant coverage. Its main objective is to summon Sand and remove Gengar, which it can do in 2 hits if they decide to stay in with its SAtk EVs. The HP EVs are for surviving CB Dugtrio at full health, but it also helps for tanking hits in general. 68 Spd EVs ensures that Tyranitar will be faster than Swampert. Besides Pursuit, the other moves are for coverage. It is good against stall, which is useful because this team is defensive. Celebi @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Leech Seed - Psychic - Recover CM Celebi with plenty of bulk is the glue of the team. It takes hits from a number of things and helps form the defensive core with Forretress and Milotic. Snorlax is the top threat Celebi is responsible to take down. Leech Seed forces switches to help rack up Spikes damage and helps alleviate the need to use Recover while using CM. In a last Pokemon situation, it can whittle their health down until they are in striking distance for Psychic to kill. Psychic is the best move to have since this team is well armed against Tyranitar. Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 36 HP / 252 Def / 220 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Thunderbolt - Softboiled Blissey is necessary to reinforce my defenses against bulky Waters. With the influx of special hyper offense teams, CM Blissey does an excellent job of standing in the way of their onslaught. The only thing you are giving up on to arm yourself against those teams are support moves for the most part. Max Def allows it to take a physical hit and the SpA EVs are to KO Dugtrio using Ice Beam without a boost. Thunderbolt gives me more power against Suicune and can be used as a last ditch measure against Gyarados. Forretress (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 192 SDef Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd) - Spikes - Hidden Power [Bug] - Rapid Spin - Explosion Forretress is the pawn on this team. It can come in to scout move sets and lay Spikes. Rapid Spin should not be difficult if you play Tyranitar effectively. HP Bug is effective against Celebi and Tyranitar. Celebi is not a problem on paper, but it can be a nuisance during a game. The additional support for Tyranitar is nice because Milotic is vulnerable against some of Tyranitar's sets on its own. Explosion is nice to have after Forretress has done its job and you need to take out a threat. Milotic (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Marvel Scale EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 16 SAtk / 16 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Surf - Recover - Toxic Milotic is the bulky Water on the team responsible for keeping Dragons in check. It sacrifices a Rock resist for a reliable method of recovery compared to Swampert. The lack of resistance is amended by the synergy of its teammates and the added bonus is that it doesn't shy away from Grass moves as easily as Swampert. It is harder to overwhelm than Swampert because Recover ensures that I can continually come back in on physical sweepers in good condition. In combination with Spikes and Toxic doing residual damage, Milotic is able to slowly drain the life out of many threats. Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Arena Trap EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Hidden Power [Bug] - Aerial Ace - Rock Slide CB Dugtrio is the failsafe on this team to stand in the way of several things that could pose a serious threat. It just waits in the wings until there is a safe opportunity to come in and eliminate something. Most of the time you will be looking to get this in against the likes of weakened Tyranitar, Metagross, Snorlax, Celebi, etc. on a free turn or prediction. Since this team is well guarded against Raikou, I opted for 252 Atk EVs. Ordinarily, I prefer the EV spread of 208 Atk / 48 SDef / 252 Spd for Dugtrio as it provides it with the bulk necessary to live a Hidden Power from Raikou. It is for this reason it works well with Blissey because they each have a part in finishing off the threats the other one doesn't like. __________________

Misdreavus > Nidoking (Rest Missy ofc), probably because poo on NYPCs but also likely because of what you said about FB Lax; and Blissey > Raikou, probably to give Heal Bell support for that Resting Tenta. There's other smaller changes, such as Reflect Starmie, Toxic Skarm, and Curse + 3 Attack Lax (though the Lax set apparently varied a lot anyway).

Jorgen Join Date: Jun 2010 Posts: 712	I'm pretty sure I've seen you use this before: Misdreavus (F?) @ Leftovers - Mean Look - Perish Song - Protect - Rest Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers - Surf - Sludge Bomb - Rest - Swords Dance Starmie @ Leftovers - Rapid Spin - Recover - Surf - Reflect Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers - Curse - Double-Edge - Fire Blast - Earthquake Skarmory (M?) @ Leftovers - Drill Peck - Rest - Toxic - Whirlwind Blissey (F) @ Leftovers - Toxic - Light Screen - Softboiled - Heal Bell Misdreavus handles the FB Curselax weak, and Bliss gives Heal Bell support to the Rest Tenta. Having a Rest-less Lax works well with Blissey and Light Screen support. It's a pretty solid team with mixed offense that's not nearly as hard to set up as drumlax, yet is still very defensive.

Conflict Join Date: Jul 2009 Posts: 532	GSC team i made with mop for spl2 and didnt lose a single game with (went like 5-0 or 6-0 with it) Basically explosion team with Espeon as the late game sweeper. Theres nothing really special about it besides 1-2 interesting gimmicks instead of standard sets. This team underwent several variations - one version had LK-Lax-Lead (with no rest i think) and leech seed+boom-eggy as well as hp[electric]-cloyster. Exspecially the Mon in the lead position i switched around regularly - i usually rotated between Lax, Cloy and Gengar. Gengar (M) @ Leftovers - Explosion - Fire Punch/Ice Punch - Mean Look - Thunderbolt Mean Look trap monoattacking normals (Lax, miltank) or electrics and then freeze/boom them into oblivion. Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers - Double-Edge - Fire Blast - Rest - Selfdestruct Defensive backbone and usually just used to sponge hits (from electrics usually) and then boom up vs something that annoys me. Exeggutor (M) @ Leftovers - Explosion - Hidden Power [Fire] - Psychic - Sleep Powder Standard boom eggy with hp[fire] cuz i somehow hated skarm, giga drain would probably been better considering ttar is a way bigger problem for this team than skarm. Cloyster (M) @ Leftovers - Explosion - Surf - Icy Wind/Hidden Power [Electric] - Spikes Icy Wind Cloyster to force Zapdos/Raikou out with the threat of an incoming explosion. Surf is there to hit Marowak/Rhydon/Ttar for more dmg cuz they are kinda annoying for this team. Sometimes i used HP[electric]-Cloyster (but i was kinda know for using that so i switched to icy wind). Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers - Curse - Pursuit - Roar - Rock Slide Pursuit-Ttar to eliminate ghosts allowing me to freely boom without having to think much. Curse so it works as a 'Lax-Check' and Roar vs. M+Perish and Joltwak etc.. Surf or maybe Crunch might have been better than Curse in hingsight. Espeon (M) @ Leftovers - Growth - Hidden Power [Fire] - Morning Sun - Psychic The mon that swept most of the time after opposing Lax/Electrics were weakened and TTar eliminated. Good chance to 2hko the electrics after 1 Growth with Psychic (with ~5-10% chip dmg its basically a guaranteed 2hko). Needs like ~15% chip dmg on Lax to 3hko it and Psychic still has this neat SDef-Drop-chance. HP[Fire] to hit skarm/eggy/forry because somehow many people thought skarm was safe to phaze Espy. Espeon also takes more hits than one thinks: - Zapdos/Raikou cant reliably 2hko Espy with Thunder and Tbolt is only a 3hko. - Snorlax's Body Slam never 2hkoes and Frustration has only a slim chance to 2hko (with Lefties). Was a cool team and fun to use back in 2011 but had some obvious flaws. Reflect-Raikou and TTar are 2 big problems and Starmie/Electrics often required me to boom immediately. Somehow most players in 2011 didnt use Ttar or Reflect-Raikou - people leaned more towards more offensive teams not the standard stall which helped me out quite a bit. Probably wouldnt use it nowadays after ive realized its many flaws and lean more towards a conservative approach.

RSE UU Spikes - Sunnybeam I originally got this idea when I was preparing for Summer Freedom IV, in 2006 http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9258. This was a UU tournament that allowed one BL in each team. Note that there was a BL list especially made for this tournament. Some of the favorite picks were Cloyster, Typhlosion and Slowbro. Oddly, Hypno, a staple mon in RSE UU, was put in the BL list. Because of this, I noticed that special sweepers in general had an advantage, and decided to try to pull off a Calm Mind passing strategy. The sweeper I chose was Arcanine, an often overlooked BL mon. I ended up making it to round 5 (best 8), when Pocket's sleep talking Machamp chose HP Flying twice to destroy my Vileplume that was getting ready to sweep... After Summer Freedom I put Ninetales over Arcanine to conform to standard UU rules. I used this team in all sorts of tournaments (Smogon, PR, UUS) and did well enough that I didn't need to make a new squad for a while. The metagame at the time consisted mostly of assorted balanced teams, with Electabuzz and Fearow as sweepers, supported by walls like Hypno. However, because of the constant tournaments and the rapidly rising level of competition, people started taking the format a bit more seriously, and a wave of creativity covered RSE UU, causing the metagame to change constantly. One of the new strategies that came around was hard stall, even employing Rapid Spin, which was strange for UU. I remember husk's stall team, that included RS/Roar Blastoise and defensive Flareon, easily foiled my Spikes and Sunnybeam... (someone post that team btw) Now let's explain each mon: Kangaskhan (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Early Bird EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Double-Edge - Earthquake - Shadow Ball - Wish Kangaskhan leads because Kangaskhan fits any team, period. Wish makes it harder to take down and helps the rest of the team. It can take on most mons and come out victorious, so it's an instant threat to your opponent. The bulky EV spread is a personal choice, Speed lets it outspeed Solrock and Banette without spd boosting natures. I also use Kangaskhan as a status dump since it's the one mon less crippled by paralysis. Lunatone @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spd Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Ice Beam - Psychic - Baton Pass Lunatone counters Gligar, is a secondary Normal resistance after, and passes Calm Minds to the main sweepers: Vileplume and Ninetales. They only need one CM to be gamebreaking, and that will be easily provided by your opponent's Gligar switching out for Grumpig or a Water type... Omastar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Shell Armor EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 8 Spd / 114 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Surf - Hidden Power [Grass] - Spikes - Toxic Omastar's standard at the time was the rather brutal Rain Dance sweeper, which caused its spiking abilities to be overlooked. Then everyone began using Spikes and this became the standard. Omastar is great because its huge defense allows room for some bad predictions on my side. It can also take an Earthquake or another strong attack if I need to get that extra layer of Spikes in. Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 72 HP / 184 Spd / 252 SAtk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Fire Blast - Hidden Power [Grass] - Roar - Quick Attack This was originally Arcanine with Extremespeed over Quick Attack. That last move is necessary to foil Reversal/Flail users, plus it is surprising to find it on Ninetales, since the usual priority users in UU are physical sweepers. With Sunny Day from Vileplume, Fire Blast becomes huge and can power through Hypno. However, the real way to get rid of walls with Ninetales is Roar -- use it as they switch in a bulky water or a special wall and watch as they have to take 50% damage if they want to counter you. That's the point where they can't take two Fire Blasts or HPs Grass. Vileplume (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Chlorophyll EVs: 116 HP / 144 Spd / 248 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Sunny Day - Solarbeam - Sleep Powder - Hidden Power [Fire] Pass this a couple Calm Minds and sweep... the surprise factor boosted its effectiveness, most Vileplumes were defensive back then. Tentacruel (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Clear Body EVs: 252 Atk / 184 Spd / 72 SAtk Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def) - Swords Dance - Hydro Pump - Sludge Bomb - Substitute Tentacruel may be the most dangerous sweeper in RSE UU, and is here to counter bulky waters and clean off late game. __________________ ロマンチスト - ROMANTIST

Since we both won't play ADV competitively anymore, this is kind of a 'goodbye' for both of us as we don't care about our EV spreads being stolen and such. Enjoy the [GJ] teams! EDIT- all the EVs spreads in this post were thought by Halloween, so credits to him! The Metagame Changer First of all, I recognize that the team Jabba posted with 3 CMers also changed the metagame. However, people realized only one mon from this team could basically stop that all, plus this team is pretty much the face of ADV OU stall, and the face of the metagame as whole: note how many teams in this thread use the lead of above team. This team was used by me when I won a tour back in the Season 11(with the Blissey moveset changed) and by ToF in Season 12 Tour Finals, and probably was the reason why you first(if ever) heard of me: Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 116 HP / 104 Atk / 32 Def / 104 Spd / 140 SAtk / 12 SDef Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef) - Flamethrower - Hidden Power [Grass] - Pursuit - Rock Slide The monster, the reason why I named the team like that. His duty isn't just to take out ghosts as many people think. This thing hits like a truck and cleans up stuff, both in early and end-game. As you can notice, the EVs of this one aren't meant to defend, and that allowed me to win many lead wars against other mixed Tyranitar, or as I like to call them, HallowTar. Forretress (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Hidden Power [Bug] - Rapid Spin - Spikes Another thing we made popular(and a must in stall teams): specially defensive Forretress. In order to beat Starmie and Claydol, we decided to maximize its bulk and to put HP Bug so it could also help against some random Celebi. Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Flamethrower - Hidden Power [Grass] - Softboiled Reponsible for taking care of special sweepers such as offensive Suicune, Superachi, and Superlebi, CM Blissey can always even sweep teams if the opponent isn't ready for it. The EVs are meant to make even more damage, and somehow if Sandstorm isn't up, I still beat Raikou without defensive EVs. Swampert (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Torrent EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 12 Spd / 24 SAtk / 56 SDef Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Earthquake - Ice Beam - Protect - Toxic The standard bulky water with a change: Toxic, placed there to provides more switching and more residual damage from Spikes, completing the core TSS. Celebi @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 240 HP / 176 Def / 44 Spd / 48 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Leech Seed - Perish Song - Psychic - Recover The Curselax counter, the Crocune counter, the reason why I don't lose to them if they're my opponent's last mon. I don't have a phazer, so Perish Song helps a lot here if I don't have another answer to some kind of Baton Pass chain. Gengar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 80 Spd / 76 SDef Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Fire Punch - Giga Drain - Thunderbolt - Will-O-Wisp The common defensive Gengar, responsible for not letting Gyarados and Heracross sweep this team entirely and for stopping Rapid Spin, given the importance of Spikes in my strategy. The Masterpiece The team Halloween and I consider to be our masterpiece, the team that Halloween used when he won a tour in the same weekend I did, and finally the team I used against M Dragon in one long(really long) battle for the PO forums BOTW. KG also used it in Tour Finals against rey iirc. Starmie @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 252 HP / 216 Spd / 40 SAtk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Rapid Spin - Recover - Surf - Thunder Wave An unusual lead that supports the whole team and spin away the Spikes. Kinda works like a bulky water in this team, since I don't properly have one. Medicham (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Pure Power EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Brick Break - Focus Punch - Rock Slide - Shadow Ball The beast to be recognized! With 720 Attack, this thing can 2HKO almost the entire metagame and is my physical trumph for the mid/late game. Jirachi @ Leftovers Trait: Serene Grace EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 36 Spd / 44 SAtk Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Psychic - Reflect - Wish My first answer to Snorlax and my Normal/Flying resist. Reflect supports the team in order to be protected against many stuff so I can pass Wish easier. Porygon2 @ Leftovers Trait: Trace EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 4 Spd / 16 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Recover - Thunder Wave - Thunderbolt Another beast, and another thing we made it common to the metagame. You can see it everywhere, so blame this team for making it popular. It is this team's answer to Gyarados and Salamence; is used to revenge kill Dugtrios, that usually kills Raikou or Jirachi, which means that if my opponent's team depends on Dugtrio to take out the CMers of this team, I have the chance of sweeping with one of them after taking Dugtrio out with Porygon2. Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Arena Trap EVs: 208 Atk / 252 Spd / 48 SDef Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Aerial Ace - Earthquake - Hidden Power [Bug] - Rock Slide The standard CB set, but with a little change in EVs. The 48 SpDef EVs are there to make sure my Dugtrio won't die to Timid Raikou's HP Ice or Grass. Plus, helps me against me to endure Psychic coming from Jirachi and is the revenge killer of the team, also helping me to kill Tyranitar. Raikou @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 104 HP / 220 Spd / 184 SAtk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Hidden Power [Grass] - Substitute - Thunderbolt Last but not least, the only thing that doesn't make this team all weak against Suicune. Many times Dugtrio can be predicted, so I just put Porygon2 to trace Arena Trap and then use Raikou to sweep.
