The first game I can remember playing is Pokemon. It brought my brother and me together. I spent so many hours playing Ruby. My brother eventually grew up and spent more time with his friends than with me. He would barely play the game with me. Eventually he introduced me to Smogon. I saw Pokemon in a whole different way. We would discuss strategies and build teams together. We would battle each other constantly tweaking our teams. My brother eventually left to go to college. We still talk about Pokemon to this day. Pokemon brought us together before and now.

I was doing my second run through in Pokemon Silver. As I was heading to Lake of Rage, I was pondering using a Girafarig, since I never had before. Low and behold, the first one that I encounter turns out to be a shiny, the very first time I ever saw one aside from the red Gyarados! After a brief little skirmish, I caught it and named it Palindrome, and still have it on my Silver game at level 100. :)

I was little, 10 years old, when I started my adventure in Pokemon Emerald, nothing more than a boy, but a boy with a dream: To be a pokemon master. I spent countless hours building up my team meeting new friends, and losing some, but they were destined for greater things than I. I finally had gotten to the Elite Four only to find out I came up short, I was so distraught I stopped playing for awhile, during this time I looked online and found that there was a pokemon I could enlist: Rayquaza. And so I set out…

Back in the day, I had moved to a new school, and I had no friends. Almost everyone there was obsessed with Pokemon, so I thought "why not?", and bought a pack of Pokemon cards. I didn't really find the cards that entertaining, (what I wanted was a game) but that Christmas I got Diamond. I was overjoyed, and played it nonstop for the next few months. I can still remember beating Cynthia for the first time, getting my beloved Infernape to Lv. 100, and being stuck in Wayward Cave for a week because i couldn't find the exit :p

My parent never bought me a GameBoy, so i've never played pokemon before my 96th birthday. (here on Dogura planet the age is calculated in a different way than on Earth)
You can't even imagine what i felt that day, i was at 35th heaves (here on Dogura planet joy is calculated in a different way than on Earth). Every time i buy a Pokémon game, it's like the first time. |

Back when I was 9, I was obsessed with my first pokemon game, Emerald. A road trip with some older friends finally let me get to the top of Sky Pillar, at which time I realized that I had exactly 3 ultra balls. I didn't have the heart to get out and buy more, so I caught Rayquaza on my 43rd reset (the rng was being mean that day). Naturally, I spastically screamed for joy; my friends still remember the bruises my flailing arms administered.

My best pokemon experiance was when I first started play pokemon XD Gale of Darkness, it was the second pokemon game I played when I was a kid. I just loved the story line and the music especially when you fought Miror B. In fact Miror B is still to this date my favorite pokemon Villian to date. I like his care-free personality and his dance steps. My favorite part about him was the final battle you have with him because he uses a team of ludicolos and a dragonite which I thought was amazing.

When I was a kid, a friend of mine said his Dad bought him an unreleased Pokemon game called "Pokemon Go Go". Then I popped the cartridge in to find out it was a hack of some random smurfs game, which was really weird in its own right. I am sure there are probably plenty of LP's of it on youtube now though.

My story would have to be the first time i caught a shiny. I'd made my way through Diamond without catching a Finneon, and I really didn't care about the fish. Then, i learned about the foreign pokedex entries, and how i could trade a Finneon for a German Magikarp. All my friends had been teasing me about never finding a shiny, but what do you know: the first one I find is a shiny! I still have it, along with my shiny Swellow, in my White Version.

Growing up in the woods, my basic math skills suffered. It was hard to count many things, including the time that passed on my daily walks to the public "library" to play pokemon.
But pokemon delivered the impetus that drove me to learn arithmetic, and to this day I'm a better person for it.

A story I've kept in my pokemon memory banks inside my head happened quite recently. I was playing a online battle in random match-up with my three pokemon, kecleon, infernape, and wartortle. The other person had ambipom, empoleon, and latios. I started off with my kecleon and he started off with ambipom. But, to make this story shorter, he taken out my wartortle without any effort and took down my infernape, and even though i had put my kecleon in way too long than he was supposed to, i managed to take out his ambipom and empolean. Then did a amazing sucker-punch with dark gem against his latios. I'll remember that for the rest of my life.

My best experience with Pokemon was at the July Pokemoshpit tournament in my state. My mom took me and she had a good time with her friends while I won a B/W2 tournament, and the prize money helped her out in her family crisis and she completely supports my tournament adventures. Additionally, I saw some High School friends there as well as some well known YouTube battlers who really came to like me. It was also great because I used one of my favorite all time Pokemon, Venusaur, and nearly won with it alone.

When I was a young boy I had really connected with Pokemon during my battle with Cancer, though I’d watch the anime as a toddler.Beating Cancer was no easy feat, but Pokemon aided me in my battle, making each day a little easier, and gave me something to do, to look forward to. Instead of focusing on the painful world around me, I focused my mind on beating Red. The day I beat Red eventually came, I found it as a major victory.

Gamestop Pokemon Battle Revolution tournament (3v3, pick from 6 each). Having no viable Pokemon, I caught and EV trained five useable OU and below Pokemon starting at 1am that day (no time to breed, RNG didn’t exist). My lead Alakazam (calm mind) swept first and second rounds (second was Palkia, Dialga, Latios). I reached semi-finals, crowd supporting me, where I finally lost to ubers. Alakazam’s 26 IVs in Sp.Attack were my undoing as the +1 shadow ball narrowly failed to OHKO Mewtwo. Crobat finished up, but Giratina took out my remaining Pokemon. The crowd, disappointed, still applauded my no-uber effort.

My best Pokémon experience ever was when I first found out about the national pokedex while playing pearl, believe it or not. I never realized that after finishing a regional pokedex that one could catch the rest of the existing mons; I thought they were all region exclusive. When I went back out from the professor’s and into the wild, I was ecstatic to find a pidgey! The amount of Pokémon left to catch left me in a state of pure Pokémon joy.

“Wild KADABARA” appeared!
My hands were shaking, a sheen of sweat covering my face. “Go! PUPITAR!” This was it. This was my moment. It was a quest that had started three years prior, when a younger me purchased a copy of Pokemon Diamond version at Target. And now, that quest was coming to an end. “PUPITAR used CRUNCH! It’s super effective! Wild KADABARA fainted!” “PUPITAR grew to level 55!” “What? PUPITAR is evolving!” I’d never completed the Pokedex before, but now, the only thing standing in my way was a lv54 Pupitar. Not anymore. “Congratulations! Your PUPITAR evolved into TYRANITAR!”

It was the summer of ’03. Or maybe it wasn’t. It made no difference to me. I was hovered over Pokemon Sapphire, collecting soot for a Pretty Desk.
It’s worth mentioning now that Pokemon Colosseum had just been announced, along with Shadow Pokemon. And while collecting soot, I found one. It was a Sandshrew. Weird stars flew out of its back and it looked covered in soot. I caught it. But then, I had to purify it, right? I tried everything. Max happiness, evolving it, teaching it a TM, everything. Nothing worked. Frustrating? Yes. Was it worth it though? Yes. |

The first I started a Nuzlocke would have to be it. Being restricted on pokemon, and raising the difficulty really gets you hooked onto it. After hours and hours of grinding, you truly do get bonded to your pokemon. Then, when it dies.. It's.. dead. . . . What can you do... nothing. But the living must continue living for the dead. And avenge their friend's death. The feeling when you beat the champion. With the pokemon you love, who you've spent hours and hours with together, is sheer happiness.

It was a sunny November afternoon, light streaming through the carriage. The train was headed homewards after an exuberant holiday at the Gold Coast. A soft shadow fell, lowering the glare on my precious screen enough that I could play. The 3DS was new, bought on the voyage. But this game was hundreds of hours old; half a dozen shinies, countless limited-edition legends, and boxes of trained, beloved pokemon sat within the tiny chip. The train pulled to a stop; I slipped the game out of the machine and into one of my bags. I grabbed my other luggage and disembarked. The bag was left behind. It’s been almost a year since I last played pokemon, and I can’t wait for Black and White 2 to reignite my passion.

Me and my little bro were huge pokéfans when we were young, having played since red and blue. Firered and leafgreen were scheduled for release while we were on a family summer vacation so we had to wait to get back to get out copies. It didn't help that there was a video game store next door to our accommodation. So mum decided to treat us and get us the games. We proceeded to waste (mum's words) our holiday at the beach playing pokemon. We regret nothing.

My grandpa used to love playing video games with me when I was a kid. He got sick one day and had to stay at the hospital for a long time. I thought that he must have been really bored so I gave him my blue GBC and red version to pass time. When he got out, he came back with two gifts for me; a silver GBC with a pikachu and pichu on it plus the new silver version. These two things are my most valued possessions to this day since they remind me of my grandpa.

One of my great moment was when I defeat a good competitive battler in my country. I am never a very good battler myself (1200 - 1300 'ish on PO) so I'm quite proud of it.
After that I have a Terrakion on about 70% of my Uber teams. |

When I was little, I wanted to be a Pokemon Master. I never forget the days with my Pokemon Blue. Tried everything I could. I even bought an extra pokémon Yellow to try the "truck glitch". Too bad that thing was fake. It was a memorable memory regardless

Hm... My favorite Pokemon moment... That's a toughie. I'd probably go with the winter my cousin (me 10, him 17) was staying in town after an argument with his parents. I'd just gotten a pair of beanbag chairs and Pokemon XD, and since nobody used the living room during the day, the two of us would sit and play for hours, controller in his hand, strategy guide in mine, and have a blast. Then, in the spring, he got caught screwing our cousin and was shipped back to Florida so our fun had to end.

My most memorable Pokemon experience was this past summer at nationals. I’ve always been towards the top in my group of friends that play Pokemon competitively and it really made me take a step back and adjust when I received my first loss at nationals.
I lost to lucariojr in the 3rd or 4th round to his Scarfed Cloyster. I always had liked Cloyster and had took the Mental Herb approach to sweep with him, this loss showed me that there are many different ways to use any one Pokemon competitively. This is something I will never forget. |
