(Tournament) The Christmas Cup

Thanks to serebii and nuggetbridge for the heads up.

It's only been a week since the quirky Eevee Cup was announced and Nintendo has given us another tournament to chew over. Behold, the spiritual successor to VGC 2010, the Christmas cup!

What makes the holidays more than smashing opponents with your 600+ club legendaires?

So far, the christmas cup looks to have the same basis rule set of many similar tournaments. It looks like the species, item, Dark Void, and Sky Drop clauses are all back. What's really interesting is that every single Pokemon is allowed except the mighty Chatot.

This opens up the doors for all kinds of interesting pairs with Uber Pokemon we haven't gotten to play with. Kyogre and Groudon bring their classic weathers, but with new toys included. Victini can fire off monsterous V-Creates under the sun and Keldeo can blast through anything with a Rain boosted Surf or Hydro Pump. Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina can make use of their new Dream World Abilities taking Surfs, Earthquakes, Explosions, and Discharges no problem. Kyurem-W is finally given a rule set where it can fire off blizzards in permahail. Reshiram also gets an auto sun educing partner that doesn't suck! Though very vulnerable to priority, Skymin and Deoxys are sure to be a blast. Scariest of all, the mighty Arceus is free to decimate whatever is pleases.

Before saying anything else...I wish they would do these tournaments internationally. :/

Personally, more than allowing the use of box legendaries and shit, event mons which are traditionally banned in every official ruleset are allowed. It won't be the first time, but it will be interesting to see how Pokemon like Jirachi, Shaymin, and Deoxys fare in doubles.

Also, when I first saw "Christmas tournament" I totally expected it to be Ice types and Stantler only.

On a side note, you will also get a free Custap Berry for participating, which would be nice for the metagame.

Excited for a little change in pace...
I have 3 DCs so far today, and didn't make my team into the Winter Cup in time. I'm not happy, at least there is the International Challenge later which is VGC 2013.

Basically, are we going to see the same old 2010 Kyogre, Palkia, Top, Obama combo? Or will it be more now...

EDIT: So, I guess no one really likes it, but I'm in it now anyways.
