As for the stats themselves, there are no real surprises with the top 15 or so being basically the same Pokemon for 3 months running. The only thing I would say is that Samurott and Zangoose are far too low, but maybe they will increase in usage in the new metagame. Enjoy!

I haven't been playing much lately but Emboar moving up to Ru was a big surprise to me.
Amoonguss was also a surprise but I've been wanting that thing kicked out of the tier for ages so I'm quite happy. Cinccino and Absol were obviously gonna move up sooner or later and I help them along by spending December playing with them in RU. As for a Amooguss Replacement, I'd say Tangela is a solid bet to increase in usage, it'll be like the early days of NU before Amoonguss ruin Tangela's day. I'm more interested in who's gonna replace Absol and Emboar. Well Skuntank will pick up some of Absol's slack, who's the gonna pick up the rest of it? Cacturne? Shiftry? Sneasel? As for Emboar, the only physical Fire type I can think of is Rapidash, nice speed, morning sun for healing off recoil and hazard damage and wild charge and megahorn for coverage but will sorely miss that secondary fighting stab. I can't wait to play the new NU. |

It seems like we've lost a number of powerful physical attackers. How do you guys think that will affect the metagame? Will we a see a drop in usage of mons like Alomomola? Perhaps it will stunt the inevitable rise of Tangela now that we've lost Amoonguss.
Now that we have another decent spiker, will Garbodor's usage drop as well? And how good do you guys think Roselia will really be?

Oh man, it's a sad day for us. Not neccessarily bad, but it's weird losing a whole slew of Pokemon that have been NU icons since the beginning of the tier. Cinccino, Absol, Emboar and Amoonguss will be sorely missed. Snover gone is also a weird feeling, as the introduction of Hail really refreshed the metagame.
However, it's not all bad! NU is sure to be really, really interesting now that the previous Pokemon mentioned are gone. Tangela may finally rise up again, and it's great to say hello to Roselia again, which may just end up being the best Spiker in our tier.

we've indeed lost alot of valuable physical attackers of NU. i'm curious what the renewed tier has to offer us.
the tier shifts were kinda predictable and i think most of us saw it coming. we still have no decent rapid spinner so sawk will definitely be used on most of the teams to break through the stealth rock setter i think that Sawk will also take over emboar's role as wallbreaker, something where sawk already was excellent in (CB sawk will be waay more popular) and now that amoonguss is gone he has one less thing to worry about snover is also gone which is more of a relief (and also a big surprise though) to me as i found hail to be a bad strategy. it was fun while it lasted but hail was nowhere near gamebreaking which is why i dont really get why it is banned. but oh well i have no complains about the snover being banned lol. rotom-f will most likely also drop slightly with snover gone and also this page is now for more than the half useless lol musharna becomes even more unstoppable with absol gone, so i think skuntanks (and maybe even cacturnes but they're completely vulnerable to signal beams) will be all over the place trying to ruin musharna's day. I'm actually quite sad of the tier changes. Emboar and Cinccino are great physical powerhouses that somehow shaped the NU tier. Emboar leaving, imo, never would have happened if some troll who placed a FREAKING STICKY BARB on Emboar in the RU tier didn't occur.
EDIT: I agree with Constantinipple that Sawk may replace Emboar as a wallbreaker, as well as a huge increase in Musharna usage. I'm also quite glad of our newcomers. Roselia would probably make the Roselomola or Alomoselia or whatever core names you guys can come up with because of Roselia's decent SpDef and Alomomola's great physical bulk. Stoutland is something I don't know much about, it does have Superpower for Rocks and Steels, so it is not completely outclassed by Tauros (maybe by Kangkaskhan though). |

I only just started embracing Emboar and while I could beat it myself, it was still good to use in general (at least mixed set was!!) and now I'm sad about it :(
I'm fine without Cinccino/Absol though as while the former was easy to beat it was still annoying, and the latter, ugh hax, generally annoying etc. Amoonguss I was sad about at first but after laddering a bit just then with mons that will have more use in the metagame now and seeing people use it, ya I'm okay without it. Don't like that Mushy will probs rise given that I don't really wanna use four dark moves on Skuntank but I am not a fan of the mindgames Musharna brings.

I'm glad to see Snover up in RU, I don't like hail in NU so I think we will see a much more balanced tier. Cinccino is another poke I won't miss, but Absol, Amoonguss and Emboar (without reckless) don't seem RU for me.
In the other hand, we get Stoutland and Roselia. I don't think we will see the first one so much, but Roselia is another story. We get a very useful spiker in a tier without decent spinners, so I see more stall coming. |

Wow, best tier changes ever ! Plenty of changes right here, meta will be a lot diferent. I just had to delete 11 of my 13 NU teams.
having emboar and amoonguss out of the way will make teambuilding much more fun and open up so much possibilities. Things I expect for the next stage: - tangela is back baby and with emboar out of the way it's a very viable option. - Toxic and Toxic spikes are now much better ways to break common walls with the so common amoonguss out of the way. We just happen to have a new viable setter with roselia who will kind of replace amoonguss with it's typing. It's still much easier to wallbreak at least on the physical side. - psychic has become an extremly good defensive typing on both sides since powerful flare blitz is not a problem anymore and the two best spikers who usualy set up on walls are defeated by psychic stab. Absol is also gone leaving only skunk as common dark to wall them (and it will surely increase in usage because of that) -Alomomola could gain in usage because of the loss of amoonguss meaning we have less walls in the tiers and it's most common switch-in is now gone. Then again, emboar being gone takes off one of the main reasons to use alomomola and roselia is even more painful to alomomola than amoonguss was so I think it'll most likely drop in usage. - people might start building emboar weak teams meaning the forgotten rapidash might get a couple easy sweeps. It also takes much less recoil from flare blitzing tangela than it did on amoonguss. - stoutland sucks, use kanga or tauros. - cinccino and absol leaving us will also let a couple of frail fast attackers shine a bit more since they were nearly all outsped and ohko'd by cinccino and sucker punch (and walled by amoonguss). -Hail stage was short and I think it's better like this. It might have become really broken without emboar in the tier so I guess it's a good thing. -Braviary now becomes the ultimate choice banded powerhouse with a non fighting stab (that 2hko's mushy) and will probably gain in usage. Hail gone also let's it's sub bu set shine once more. (Golurk is there too, but he's walle by tangela, rarely runs cb and choice locks himself in moves with common immunities) - will-o-wisp on sp.d walls has just become a little better with emboar out of the way. - Mushy, roselia and ludi will be the kings of this stage imo. Maybe gardevoir too since he's a useful thing to have against all of the three. Thanks to Antar and Django.

I'm going to try Sand Rush Stoutland once ladder allows it, and too bad it can't learn Sandstorm ;~;

Wow, huge changes. Expected the rise of Absol and Cinccino, but no more Amoonguss means big changes are headed to my NU teamslots. I will probably choose Serperior over Tangela thanks to its better speed and somewhat versatility for such a shallow movepool. Tangela is boring ;;
We lost Emboar which was surprising to say the very least. I expected, if anything else, to lose Gardevoir. Then again, I'm not sure how RU people exactly feel about her. Stoutland is very interesting, but is outclassed by Tauros, unfortunately. Roselia could make a big difference in the metagame, or it could show how much better Garbodor is at its job.. Exciting month ahead! |

Wow bombshell tier changes. Definitely going to liven things up and definitely makes me want to jump on the ladder right now.
Glad to see Amoonguss leave. Despite not fully living up to the hype that occurred around the start of BW2, he was an absolute menace in NU and one of the tiers defining forces. My best ladder team still had no surefire response to him without sacking somebody. Hope he stays up. And glad Roselia is at least coming down to replace him. Though Toxic Spikes are still underwhelming in this tier I find, a Spikes set might become really useful. Cincinno leaving isn't a big loss in my mind. She had several hard counters and her predictability made it easy to contain her and then revenge kill. Really surprised to see Emboar move up. I didn't realize he was so popular with the rise of hail in RU. This guy was probably the Pokemon I struggled to contain the most. He just hit so freaking hard. Now one of the few common threats that can muscle through my favourite Max Def Golbat is gone. Excited to try out Stoutland, though really Tauros should be on the rise. Using both might be interesting to try out. Double Intimidate? Sand Rush with a Sandstorm setter? Could be some fun combinations, and may have to try both out on a team to outmuscle walls. Edit: Food for thought, given the chances in the tier, might it be an opportunity to suspect test Jynx, who would have fallen to NU based on usage? We survived amoonguss with Spore dominating the tier, maybe Jynx won't be so broken with the massive changes. Then again, several of her biggest potential checks in Cincinno, Absol, and a scarfed Emboar just left the tier... |

Some pretty interesting tier shifts. About time there was some change around here. Anyways, as others have said, Roselia will have a large impact this stage due to the fact that Amoongus is leaving, giving it less competition in the way of typing, and that NU is pretty lacking in diverse Spike-setters. Stoutland will likely have little impact though as there are many other normal-types in the tier which perform its roles better than it does. As for Emboar leaving, I'll miss that thing. I used CBoar + Spikes on so many offensive teams and it was great at applying pressure on teams once it got in. Musharna will become a much more definitive Fighting-Type check since it won't have to worry about predicting a Superpower only to get hit by a Flare Blitz. That and Hail leaving pretty much ensure it being back to it's old position of dominance this stage. As for Absol, I won't miss it for its trapping ability, since Skuntank can also beat the top Psychics of the tier, and is easier to get into battle by virtue of its typing. I've been using it on alot of teams lately mostly because of its powerful STAB Sucker Punch, which let it be a Psychic trapper as well as a revenge-killer. Cincinno isn't something I think will have a huge impact really outside of some mons not having to fear being ouotsped by it/having their subs broken by it. I always found it fairly predictable and easy to beat through smart play, as its checks are generally things that should already be on a good team.
Anyways, overall I'm excited for this stage. There'll be alot of potential for some cool new teams and pokemon to shine. |

This is a sad day for all of us. Cinccino and Absol leaving.....I already knew that. Snover...Antar announced it and it deeply disappointed me as my best team was a Hail team. But there was two surprises. One was kind of pleasant, and the other one...Not so much. Emboar and Amoonguss were really icons in NU, the fat pig just gaining a niche with it's Special set. Amoonguss, I'm happy to see it gone, maybe Parasect will regain the niche that it never had. I can already see cores made out of Vileplume and Alomomola coming, as it can take some good Physical hits, or even Roselia and Alomomola. Even though I hate Amoonguss, I think I'll still miss it. Now who will take my Sawk's Close Combats and force out a switch with Spore ._.. It's a good thing, when you think about it, though. xD

Absol up to RU I don't miss him, since i'd always used Skuntank as a trapper. Yeah i know that Absol can be a good sweeper/Setup Sweeper/Trapper and his high crit ratio is annoying, but i really prefer the bulk and the utility of skuntank. Snover up to RU I knew that this would happens ! Personally i didn't like a single perma-weather in a tier and i'm of those that was starting playing NU for his unpredictability and the absence of perma-weathers. When Snover was unlocked in NU, i cried hard lol, but i knew that it was a matter of time to see him going to RU. On the other hand i fear a re-drop or a bunch of ice abusers going up to RU (Like Rotom-F, Glaceon or Vanilluxe) and i'm especially aware about Piloswine, since i love him as a Bulky SR setter and sweeper ;_; Anyway, with Snover and Absol gone, Musharna can makes his return and kick Duosion out lol Amoonguss up to RU I didn't used him too much in my teams, but the miss of a great Spore user is a bless and a curse at the same time. Cinccino up to RU YES ! Since i love Substitute as a move, i didn't love Cinccino too much :P However he was too predictable, the only thing that you should guess is the item equipped and a Rocky Helmet user can destroy him. Happy to see him gone. Emboar up to RU Emboar is a huge miss for the NU tier, is probably one of the most influencing pokemon when you are teambuilding. Anyway i'm glad to see him being recognized as a good sweeper and makes his jump to the RU tier. His CB Flareblitz was a real bitch to face and now we probably can breathe more freely. Roselia down to NU With Amoongus gone, NU trainers will have an hard choice in finding a good substitute to him. On a part we have Tangela, the most famous Grass regenerator abuser before Amoongus with a 75% accurate Sleeping move and an extremely good Physical bulk thanks to Eviolite and Leech Seed and/or regenerator for Recovery. On another part we have Roselia, that can acts as a special wall and Spikes/T-Spikes setter, she can also absorb T-Spikes thanks to his Poison Type and she has Sleep Powder too and Rest+Natural Cure or Leech Seed for Recovery. On another part, we have Garbodor, the rival of Roselia as an Hazards setter, he has Paint Split for recovery but he can sponges a lot of physical attacks and a few specials, he can also use Rock Blast, Clear Smog and Gunk Shot for attacking the opponent. So The NU trainer has now a wide choice of wall to select over Amoongus, all depends of what you searching for. Stoutland down to NU Stoundland has three good abilities, a decent bulk, good ATK for the tier and pretty good moves. Too bad that the only boosting move he has is Work Up :( I think that he can fit pretty well in the meta, but he will not shines over the others offensive Normal-Type like Tauros or Kangaskhan.

Roselia is really gonna shake up the tier. Stoutland, not so much, though it would be interesting. He would otherwise be high tier, but outclassed by Kanga. Now I have to delete my favorite team. Emboar and Cinccino were here, and not to mention they moved up, so my best buds out. If Rose drops, we better have Rhydon and Scolipede as well. Seriously. Wartortle is not garbage. It is not the best Pokemon, but it is still very usable and excels on teams that need hazards off the field. There is no better defensive spinner than Wartortle. I would recommend playing here before commenting on the viability of Pokemon.
