I doubt it's a remake. The remakes of GSC and RBY were necessary b/c 1st and 2nd Gen games were not able to have their pokes ported up to the new games. We can still port from RBY.

Las time this happened we go a new Mystery Dungeon game so I'm going to laugh when/if they reveal a 3DS ranger title.

Yeah I agree with the subway! They could have done so much better :) Why can't you use for just transport instead of relying on Fly ? Why can't you go on all the maps with the Subway ? And for plot reasons, make it like GSC : Generator broken etc

RSEmakes won't happen. There is not going to be another DS game, they won't want to start a new Gen with a remake, and they definitely won't put a main series game on a console.

We didn't need HGSS either, as we could get every Johto pokémon from DPPt and the legendaries from Colosseum, XD, FRLG and random events everywhere.

I don't know about other people, but I've actually come to love the 3DS and its features and I'd rather have a fully-fledged 3DS game than a DS game with 3DS gimmicks. It's time to move on from a system that's dated and make a truly must-have game for the system. I can't imagine Nintendo wants GameFreak to make yet another Pokemon game for the DS considering they discontinued the DS Lite (the most popular of the bunch). Nintendo has used Pokemon throughout its history as a handheld seller, and one that's packed with features on the 3DS would do just that.

TV Tokyo has posted the summary for the episode of Pokémon Smash, a variety show that covers all aspects of the franchise, due to air next week on Sunday 18th of September. In this summary, it mentions that Pokémon Game Creator, Junichi Masuda is set to appear on the show with a massive shock announcement. While it is possible that the announcement could be unrelated to a new game such as the reveal of Keldeo or the other new Pokémon, his announcements in the past similar to this have ended up being new games. This follows on from Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara hinting that there are more surprises coming this year. If it is a game announcement, it's possible that the reveal of this game will be in CoroCoro, which is due any day now and/or in Nintendo's special 3DS conference in Japan on Tuesday morning. We'll bring more on this, including confirmation on the announcement as and when it comes.
Edit @ 20:58 BST; The official site's Pokémon Smash site also details this, but doesn't reference Masuda's appearance, but states that "Latest Game Information" is to be revealed. This does not necessarily confirm the above, but leads in the right direction
Edit @ 00:34 BST; Something that may destroy the flames; Pokémon Smash's episode just aired in Japan and mentioned that Mewtwo is to be given away through an event soon with details to be revealed next week. The preview showcased Masuda coming in and showing a sign, blanked out, with a caption saying that there's a revelation of the Present.

This Mewtwo was also featured in CoroCoro

Pokémon Smash, the variety show that airs weekly in Japan, has just given the details of the Mewtwo that is to be given away over WiFi for Japanese Pokémon Black & White games. This Mewtwo is Level 70, has the ability Pressure, the Premier Ribbon and the moves; Psystrike, Shadow Ball and Aura Sphere with one more to be revealed on the 25th. It has no other further special features. This Mewtwo will be distributed from September 26th 2011 to October 31st 2011. The Event Database has been updated with details of this event.

I don't have a problem with GF releasing a game for the 3DS, on the contrary; it's just that I don't know why people are talking as if it had been already confirmed it's a 3DS game.

Ideally if they're going to create new assets for a game it would be for the new best selling handheld console and not the one whose next biggest title is probably "The Croods: Prehistoric Party"

If I remember correctly, BW2 was barely greenlighted for the DS, and the 3DS needs a system-seller, which Pokemon is perfect at.

In the game shop I went to to try and get white 2, I was looking in the DS section for the game but the shop had it in 3DS game section! I think Nintendo really wants to market it as a 3DS game so I will be thoroughly surprised if the next game is for DS amd not 3DS!!!

I was thinking about this recently. With the release of Pokedex for iOS, Game Freak are starting to show developments in releasing content for platforms other than the Nintendo handhelds. I know there have been SEGA games and the like, but I'm talking about iOS releases of the original games for 69p ($1) much like SEGA did with some Sonic the Hedgehog titles.

If Game Freak went far enough down this line, perhaps a Pokemon MMO wouldn't be so far fetched in the not-so-near future? It might be unlikely to be released on PC due to the costs of making a game for a platform that people have to buy a gaming build for, whereas many people own smartphones due to they way they are marketed and sold by the bucket load across the world today. Releasing a Pokemon game for iOS, Windows Phone or Android (most likely Android as they've got the most phones with their operating system on) would widen the market for potential Pokemon players massively.

I'm not saying this is the announcement at all, I'm just speculating at what could be in store for the franchise very soon.
