I've watched it, pretty pumped, but I wanna SEE pics!

I was pretty convinced beforehand that they weren't going to use colors anymore. They're too expected.

And everyone always says that some/all of the starters look stupid when they're first revealed. Then in a few weeks everyone's opinion changes.

Also, the absolute first thing I thought of when I saw the new names was "Cartesian coordinates". Perhaps the third version will be Z, and the names would represent the 3 axes of a 3d coordinate system. Interesting names.

I think this new gen will finally be the breakthrough to more 3D Pokemon. I hope you can walk with your Pokemon in 3D like in HGSS

Honestly, my first reaction to the names was "They're making a Boys version and a Girls version???" (X and Y just seemed so...random...not colours...not gemstones...not anything pokemon-y...guess it just threw off my usual train of rational, reasonable thought for a second). To be fair, Cartesian Coordinates would make a lot more sense, but a Z version would be annoying.

Oh, and pics of Chespin and Fennekin, please? No Froakie, that thing was horrible.

Edit: Hmm, I think I might have been on to something. There is a symbol in the logos of each version which looks a lot like part of the double helix DNA is associated with.

Given X and Y are the chromosome pair for humans, I wasn't too far off. Thankfully Y version's legendary looks more awesome to me, no doubt I'll be going with Y solely for the legendary.

What is the Chespin based off of? I know what Froakie and Fennekin are based off of, but what is Chespin? A mole?

Chespin looks like a horrible Frankenstein experiment of Treecko and Dewott ;_;

Fennekin is... uh idk, someone took Zorua, changed the colour, and said this was a new pokemon

Did anybody else see the symbolism in that the Pikachu at the beginning stood atop l'Arc de Triomphe in Paris?

EDIT2: Thanks for correcting me, it's actually the Eiffel Tower. I thought it looked like he was standing a bit away from the tower when the camera zoomed out.

Also, mr. Iwata's English is... charming. It was clear he doesn't speak the language very well, but I doubt he learned it in school as a child.

Anyway, major thanks to Nintendo and GameFreak!

EDIT: Concerning the guy swinging on vines... I think it's a gym, not an regular obstacle like a boulder or a small tree. Kinda like the gym puzzles in Unova, which require you to travel in unorthodox ways.

Also the actual battle animation. This gen features more realistic attacking and defending mechanics. That was a huge plus for me, plus this game is based around France.

The video can be watched here. The game is based on France this time around (when Pikachu is introducing the video he is standing on the Eiffel Tower, which can also be seen in the background in-game; the character appears to be roller-skating down an alley in the same shot).

EDIT: Haha I guess the page didn't refresh and it still said that the last post was made yesterday. Regardless, I'm really hype for these games and they have the potential to be the best entry into the main series.

I think more details will be revealed later in the year. I think more abilities will be released and it looks like Zubats in the Cave again.

Looking at Chespin again, it looks better than I remember. Cute, even. Like a mole that someone added a green spiny shell to. I'd actually consider picking it now, if the evolutions look nice (which is what I said about Tepig...until Emboar showed up).

Fennekin is still amazingly cliche'd, but in a good way. Like Zorua cosplaying as Ninetales, to show Eevee what a proper Fire type should look like before it makes the mistake of touching a Fire Stone.

And Froakie should be killed. Along with Victini, Emolga and Elesa. By a Terrakion's Close Combat.
