Where did this come from? Also congrats to our new king, Sawk! Also Mushy being so used is not surprising and is quite awesome, actually. Top tier threat right there. Also, Gardy and Golurk are still some of the most viable in the tier, so it's awesome to see such good mons at the top. Except people might have to realize that Skuntank =/= Absol :/ Oh yeah and Wartortle at 22 is just ugh |

sawk is the new king due to its sheer wallbreaking power. the popularity of liepard is rising and as a result, i choose to run 0 atk ivs on special attacker w/o hp to lessen its annoyance. also stop using wartortle plz, its a bad mon and has no offenses to speak of.

My first tought went to Torkoal.
With all the Defensive Grass types being more popular, SmashKoal can be a huge powerhouse in this meta and he can even spin. Idk. Happy to see Piloswine getting the usage that deserves being the 4th SR setter in the usage stas is good. Actually the top20 reflect exatly the meta, the top10 principally. I see all the top10 guys a lot a they're all very good in their role. Except for Armaldo. I think that with all the offensive pressure that this meta has, is pratically impossible to set SR and spin. I better use a set focused on the duty of spin OR set SR. Just my 2 cents.

Not surpirsed at all that Sawk is laying on the top, is by far the most dangerous Choice Bander and wallbreaker in this tier and it seems like people have been realising that after Mold Breaker got released which actually makes a lot off Stealth Rock weak pokemon's like Articuno and Charizard get more attention which I think is cool and healthy for the meta.
But there is a thing I find so annoying like omg, that Liepard people suddenly realised how annoying and good it actually is and it's really annoying and it is by far one of the reason I don't ladder that much anymore because it literally just pisses me of, but anyway can't do anything about it lol.

For Liepard i just sent out my Piloswine or Gurdurr and pray that the he don't stay confused lol.
All the pokemons that has Oblivious are pretty bad/in an high tier/has better abilities. And a LumHarvest Exeggutor/Tropius are pratically unseen. I don't see any other way to beat liepard if not getting the confuse and pray that it don't do its effect lol.

The top 20 indeed is a good view on what is mostly used in the meta, as you will almost only will find combinations of those. I find it weird that people are coming up with such straight forward teams, as I like to look between pokémon that are really never used, although Django always tells me I should use good pokémon instead of shitty ones. It's pretty selfexplanatory that Sawk, Mushmush and the others are in the top ten, as they're good in many ways, and they're the most valuable counters to some of the main treats in the metagame. I'd like to see some change though, like the renaissance of pokes like Zebstrika and others, which are quite low in my opinion.
And I don't know why people are going on about wartortle, I myself never used it, but it seems like a pretty good poke if you want to use a set like rapid spin etc. I can see a raise in usage here, and I don't really mind it if I come up against it.

Weird seeing Liepard above 2% usage, the hax set can definitely turn games around but its still completely luck based. Without some good luck Liepard is can be a wasted teamslot, really don't agree with 7% usage. Prankster Twave is definitely nice though.

When the opponents team had been weakened enough, Swoobat could come in and get in a Simple Calm Mind to clean up. Would be nice to see some other people trying this out as well, maybe we can get Throh and Swoobat's usage up a bit.

Slowly, the tier is becoming more offensive (Choice and Life Orb users are at top usage, and Musharna), and I din't even think that could happen with Cinccino's out, but, wow, I was in a mistake, Zangoose is too low for my taste, too, he can sweep everything on the tier without any major trouble, and it doesn't need of too much support or help for do that.

Whoops, guilty here. At least I can still claim to not have lost to Liepard yet (though I came pretty damn close when it was accompanied by a Murkrow with the same set XP). In order for people to rage less, I don't even use T-Wave Liepard, which sucks on stall anyway. Encore punishes them for their own mistakes as opposed to being totally reliant on luck. Roselia's low use should be for Skuntank's high use, people wants to use a Poison-Type more for absorb Toxic Spikes than put them, and Skuntank is being too much useful for offensive and balanced teams than Roselia is for the low number of stall teams. That should be.
Also, Wartortle is the MASTERFUL setup bait of all times alongside Alomomola, with the exception that Alomomola's Wishes and physical tanking are a lot more useful than a hopeless spinner. Also, Wartortle can't beat the spinblockers unless they users are being... unbrained or something. Even if you use Haze, that doesn't change the fact that your opponent can setup a substitute, or doesn't change the fact that they can just attack you until you're near the K.O point, focing you to out or being KOed, and leaving them an extra turn. Yawn is an ok move, anyway, but that just work once, if it even works at all. Wartortle have an small (should be bolded, small) niche, as being the unique spinner who is not weak to Stealth Rock, but that's pretty much all, any opponent will leave you at the K.O range soon, and all you'll gonna do is spin one or at most two times per game, and if all you want is to spin 1-2 times per game, Torkoal and Armaldo can do, and they can do A LOT more than just spin. Wartortle can still be used at some degree with Wish support, as he'll use it a lot better than Torkoal and Armaldo for futher spinning, but Alomomola is the most used Wisher of the tier, and Alomomola and Wartortle have null synergy, making it not a great idea to use both, so, Wartortle just have an edge on teams who use other Wisher than Alomomola, like Wigglytuff, Audino, or Chimeco. Wiggly's + Audino's + Chimecho's Usage = 3,4% (Assuming the abscense of multi-wishers per team) Wartortle's Usage = 7,1% It's obvious that Wartortle's users are not using him for it's edge over the others spinners (bulky and durable spinner who can afford multi-spinning along the match thanks to Wish support, and able to stop some sweeps, and help with type synergy), that is the problem, and Torkoal should be used a lot more as he's not a niche Pokémon like Wartortle. Wartortle without Wish support (or well, without Rest and Heal Bell support, even smaller - and awful - niche), is just like a turtle without it's shell, in other words, totally outclassed and useless.

Absol with its powerful Sucker Punch, Emboar with its STABS, Amoonguss with its walling capability, Snover summoning hail (which chips of Sawsbuck's HP from time to time), and Cinccino with its fast U-turns. This mon can really dent some pokemon, and even set up on them (read: Alomomola). This Pokemon deserves a lot more usage. Kangaskhan With priority STAB Fake Out, a good 90 Base Attack, and priority Sucker Punch. This pokemon acts like a decent revenge killer without even holding a scarf! It has really amazing bulk for such an offensive Pokemon (105/80/80) and good speed as well (90). This mon also has an amazing ability in Scrappy that makes its moves all unresisted! Liepard being in the top 20 is very depressing. :( I look forward to the day people forget about it (lol yeah like that's going to happen). Nice to see Sawk got first place although I did kind of think one of the two big psychic types would've taken out first given the tier changes. Oh and it's good to see Braviary rising (at least iirc from the last stats?) just because I like Braviary.

@sickweare and Nyara: I didn't say anything about Wartortle being better than Armaldo or Torkoal, what bothers me is that some people think that Wartortle should be E tier or something.
By the way, Nyara, you seem to have forgotten about Lickilicky as a Wish passer; Lickilicky has Wish, Heal Bell, and awesome special bulk to support Wartortle. Why would you even put Wigglytuff and Chimecho in an argument -.- Wartortle is not outclassed and useless; he has no SR weakness (which you're aware of), beats Golurk, the top spinblocker, has surprisingly awesome bulk to take hits for its team (even some SE ones), and a lot more. I have used all spinners and I can attest that they are all effective in some teams in one way or another. Torkoal's niche is its Shell Smash set, so it is much more better in more offensive teams and some balanced ones (particularly those without much weakness to SR). Armaldo's niche is being the obligatory Normal resist that can set up Stealth Rock, sometimes it also finds use as a sweeper with Swords Dance or as a support in Rain teams with Swift Swim. However, they have some weaknesses that my teams does not appreciate, such as their weakness to Rock, Armaldo's lack of resistances other than Normal, and Torkoal's SS set being a one time use only (if you're not using Shell Smash, then you should be using Wartortle). Wartortle is the spinner that works for my team, and if you can't make him work for your team, then at least you shouldn't be calling him outclassed or useless or garbage, since I and apparently a lot of other people find him effective for our teams. |

Wartortle, overall, is less effective than the other spinners (of course, anything - even a Pichu - works against the 50% of players in showdown, but that's other story), and only works as a somewhat niche role of "not weak to SR spinner who's water-type", that usually, just work better for teams with Wish Support and by hands of other Wisher than Alomomola (yeah, you pointed Lickilicky, he's a good example of how to partner Wartortle, did forgot about him, sowwie), but, of course, Wartorle is barely more bulky and is punched just somewhat less by Stealth Rock, in exchange for don't being able to carry Leafovers, so, he's unique niche over the others spinners is... well, it's somewhat higher durability thanks to it's type and Eviolite, and he needs Wish support in order to avoid being outclassed, as without Wish, you're just carrying a spinner who can't attack, is the masterful setup bait, and can't spin more than 1-2 times per match.
So, just for leaving clear, I'm not saying Wartortle is useless when it's used correctly, and that's inside of it's (decent-good) niche, but he's useless and trash when is used on teams where Armaldo and Torkoal just have a lot more of things to offer than just a single move (that, in basic, makes your battle 5vs6 as Wartortle can't attack at all or do something more than use Rapid Spin and... beat the Golurks of stupid players). But it's niche is small, he's only ok on certain archetype of teams, while Armaldo and Torkoal are good for almost any team, thus, they should have more usage (they are more versatile, while Wartortle is pretty non-versatile while we talk about team building). Edit: Oh, yeah, also, looking at the RU Stats, it seems we're about to get Munchlax, Hariyama, and Scolipede, and maybe if we're lucky, Klinklang. Hariyama and Scolipede are lowest than the cut point, already, and Munchlanx and Klinklang are so near (about 10 uses less, and they're lowest the cut point).

There' also the fact that Roselia can still set up hazards in Wartortle's face, while Wartortle can't do anything about it lest it eat a Giga Drain.
Edit: Damn, I wanted Mandibuzz in NU, after all Braviary is fine(?) in NU :P. Aside from that, having the ultimate stop to Musharna in the tier is quite the godsend and means we won't see Skunks everywhere we turn (Pinsir's a welcome sight though, and I apologize for using Liepard as my Mushy counter D:).

Sawks is one of more predictables Pokémon ever, with the same set always, but it works, and really well, but I think he'll fall from it's place soon or later, when people will start to overpredict him, he's not being like Braviary who can use different sets, and employ different tactics and moves.
