OK I guess it's time for my monthly bump. Just offloading my MAC entry and a WoW-themed picture that will probably never be finished (seems to be a running theme for those).

That MAC entry is really striking. Just how that perspective is caused is a different story (backward binoculars? I dunno), but the close up of his face along with the skewed backgrounds really brings home the theme of that contest.

His hair below his chin (beard??) could use some finer details though, so that it looks similar to the tuft on his head.

I've seen a WIP of that WoW pic before, and the sizes of those goats could still be varied further imo. The two in the lower right corner could be enlarged as they're running towards the viewer, and yet the other light-brown one ehind them look just as big. The mound and the cliffs furthest back could use more solid brush strokes. You can add a blur effect at the end of it to indicate distance or shift the focus to the front, but right now they seem petty sloppy. And if that bench thingy behind the pumpkins isn't necessary, I'd consider dropping it and draw smaller patches of grass instead on that field.

Oh yeah... I was trying to go for a sort of fish-eye lens thing, but after looking at some different fish-eye pictures beyond the couple I used as refs... I think the world should be skewed in the opposite direction. Sort of hard to tell, some pics go one way and some go another, maybe it just depends on the type or angle you use. Oh well.

example fish-eye pictures

Agreed. That's something I'll probably fix up when I have a bit more free time.

Ha, I'll be honest, I never actually ended up making those original size changes to the goats that you recommended the first time around before giving up on the pic. I basically just did the pumpkins, started working on the shading/details on the leftmost goat, got frustrated because it was turning out horribly and then gave up. I was intending to change the background details and the sizes of the goats at a later point. The bench thing was intended to be a weird arse chicken coop (which is how they look in-game) and I was planning to add some chickens running around and nesting in/around there. I think the perspective on it is pretty messed up though so maybe it's worth getting rid of.

Anyway, I'll keep all of that in mind if I start work on this pic again. Thanks for the feedback!

Bump time! But only for shit that's already been posted in other threads because I'm a cheater like that. Here's my try at a facebook banner and my part of the entry for one of the tournament's art before Bummer was kind enough to finish work on it.

I also updated my MAC entry but the change is incredibly minor so I won't force it on anyone again, ha.

Curse you triple posts! Anyway, here's some more stuff, including the sexiest picture ever seen on this website. Prepare your sphincters for... charbat!

Also for more tourny art!

It's a good thing I wasn't eating or drinking anything, or I would have choked at the charbat. Also, the scizor OU cavalry looks great! I like the second one better though, the blended shading looks better, but that's just me. :) Keep up the great work man!

EDIT: BTW, what's the name of the pokemon fuser?

I actually couldn't remember since I started working on charbat months ago and gave up on it until today! But luckily I had it posted earlier in the thread, it's this. It's so good in a terrible sort of way. Anything with a mankey base is a winner, imo.

So I guess I should probably post something instead of being that guy that gets an artist badge and then becomes the least productive person around. Haven't done a whole lot outside of stuff that's already been posted in other places, but here's a pic I'm too annoyed to finished (based on a photo I took while on holiday) and a few other things.

Based on a sketch that NJ did about 500 years ago. Probably should've done more with it, but eh.
Delicious deformed baboon cakes on a stick
.

And just for reference, here are a few bits and pieces that were done for tournies and other stuff around the site (not that they were necessarily used).

Apparently I've been really interested in painting lately. Woo. Here's a 40min speedpaint for sandshrewz and the next addition to my 14 month old pokemon type meme.

Double post to the top! Smog art dump (mostly in the form of avatars) and some Gunnerkrigg Court fanart, which is awesome and you should read it right now.

Ew, triple posting. Just offloading my first contribution to the card deck, and a little something I did for McMeghan, who is a pretty chill dude.

Your Gunnerkrigg Court stuff is awesome and you should feel awesome. Also, loving the concept/execution on that Sableye.

Hey el cheeso, just stopping by to say the vgc logo is very impressive. :D there's also something very comforting about the style you used for the sandstorm smog piece :)

I really like these two. While Drilbur is mostly obscured, you put some real effort into making Hippopotas an actual hippo with proper lighting to boot. That, along with all that sand, seals the image nicely. Also it looks so happy to be there. Not as much to say concerning Tyranitar, but I like how you made him seem buff even though his arms are totally meek. You also did well to warmen up his palette, the official art is so cold with their choices.

Quote:
I completely forgot that you were working on this. Garchomp may have been better off stomping on the ground to cause a quake, rather than summoning dust particles from the abyss, but that was something I noticed afterwards since there's no doubt what move it's using. The font could use a better color around it to unite the two combatants rather than being a hue none of their palettes favor, although I admit that's a tricky issue since yellow and blue are essentially each other's opposites.

You dedication to CAP certainly shows, too. Almost wish that you'd gone for the Freudian tree than the goat, but I can understand why. :V

I really enjoy your realism on the Hippowdon and how it has one eye closed which gives it a bit more character.
I'll go ahead and be nitpicky but I've noticed that Tyranitar has no dewclaw on its right foot whereas it has it on its left foot. Any reason why? Also, I feel that you should straighten up its back toe on its left foot (on the right side) so it doesn't look scrunched up (because that does look uncomfortable for T-tar).
Also for your VGC logo, I find Zapdos' leg in an awkward position so I think that a quick fix for that is to move the leg a little to the left (if possible) and make the lines look like the leg is a little behind of the body (I can't explain that well).
Anyways, keep up the great work! Also, love your humor in the Simisear sprites!

Thanks for the feedback, all! I'll keep all that stuff in mind for next time. Colour choices aren't my strong point, unfortunately. Anyway, here's another tournament logo.

Monthly update time! Nothing too interesting here, Smog #27 art and a fakemon design for a tauros, miltank and bouffalant prevo (kind of obvious, really). Its name is calfpint or moo.
