Tropius is often thought to be the bottom of the bottom of NU. This is incredibly saddening, as it couldn't be further from the truth! Tropius is a very versatile pokemon, with many different tactics having the possibility to be great! Yes, maybe in order to use tropius effectively you need to be more experienced and to use your brain more... but then I bid you the question; isn't that what compeitive battling all about?

Tropius is the meaning of a sun abuser - he is made for it. He has 3 amazing abilities - solar power, chlorophyll and harvest - which when used turn into 3 completely different sets! Now, Tropius is almost always forgotten about. Chlorophyll is seemingly out-classed by Jumpluff, Sawsbuck and, if you want a more stally set, vileplume, and then you have harvest exeggutor seemingly out-classing harvest tropius, and even solar power is out-classed by Charizard! Well guess what? This couldn't be farther from the truth! Here is a thread for you guys to discuss tropius facts, sets and other things to do with tropius! (and don't forget to do the poll!)

To start off, I will post a set I have been using on my run stall team, taken from my rmt "I'm stalling on sunshine!"

Tropius @ Sitrus berry
Ability: Harvest
- Toxic
- Protect
- Air slash
- Sunny day
252HP, 220 Special attack, 36 special defense
Nature: Modest

Tropius, for me, is outclassed by Exeguttor in a stalling role because Eggy doesn't have a SR weakness and a 4x weakness to a common type (Ice). It's also outclassed by Charizard in the Solar Power role (Hell, I'd prefer Sunflora). It's outclassed by Sawsbuck, Shiftry and also Victreebel in the Chlorophyll role. It's basically a poor man's staller / sweeper, etc.

Although it may seem that Tropius' roles in sun are outclassed by exeggutor, you can't forget Tropius' flying type can be a blessing especially with a sub seeding set, as now you can hit those dang grass types for a super effective Air Slash!

Starf Berry Tropius is so much fun to use. Max HP/Sdef and you're good to go.

On a more serious note, the sub-seed Sitrus set is quite good but in most ways outclassed by Eggs. It has that nasty ice 4x weak as well as SR but it has a more reliable recovery move in Roost.

A side note - In OU, if you B-pass it aqua ring + ingrain with Harvest + Leppa Berry
then give it sub + protect + leech + roar.. Nothing stops you except Mamoswine/Cloyster with Ice spear and Taunters :)

You know, I have a battle log of a Tropius team in Ubers doing that exact thing, minus Roar plus Synthesis.

I was thinking maybe a dragon dance set with Harvest Lum Berry but It sadly just isn't strong or fast enough for that role. Although Harvest+Lum+ rest is a nice combo. Doesn't have good coverage either with Leaf blade, Seed bomb, Earthquake, Return, Aerial Ace and Outrage. Outrage works because it gets infinite lum berries with Harvest getting cured from confusion.
