Round 1 Starts!

The battle kicks off, and immediately we see what might be Maxim’s key in this match! Cincinno has long been known to be a fearsome pokemon, and Maxim equipping a King’s Rock to add to Aht’s multi-hit menace will be a nuisance to face! Simon’s Emira faces Aht off, the two ladies captivating the sights of all the males in the stadium with their Cute Charm.

Aht goes ahead and blows a hole in Emira’s defences with 5 wicked tail slaps, while Emira holds on tight, trying not to flinch from the King’s Rock effect…and she does! Confusing the oppoentn is typically a last resort move, but what else could Simon do in this situation? The two pokemon set up screens, and then Aht goes ahead and starts her barrage…with a critical hit (bypassing screens entirely too! Poor Simon, Zarator’s proposal for crits on screens hadn’t passed yet…) and a King’s Rock flinch on the very last roll! It seems that Simon really could use the assistance of his Lucario right now...
