If you dislike gen 5, fine, it's your opinion, but to say they run out of ideas as a fact is simply wrong.
Like the others said, the examples you gave do not show gamefreak running out of ideas but following traditions they do since the very beginning. If you say those things about gen 5 then you would also say it about gen 2, which also had a common bird, an early rodent, bugs, a legendary trio, a pseudo legendary etc. Dont state opinions as facts cause thats ridiculous. @ flareon: yeah the time before diamond and pearl were released there was a contest in japan where people should think up a dragon type attack and send their idea to gamefreak. The winner was draco meteor. Last edited by Glurak93; Mar 17th, 2013 at 10:55:25 PM. |

Feraligatr's Silver sprite always seemed cramped to me, as though the Pokemon is being squeezed into the 56-pixel box, hunched over.

Real talk everyone, there's no such thing as Game Freak running out of ideas. A single person runs out of ideas. A company that has existed for years and brings in/swaps out employees doesn't "run out of ideas." Everyone stuck for what to do new? New project director!
What is possible is that they are afraid to change a time tested formula. |

That is my thought, opinion. Pure speculation. I recognize I am a pessimist, so if you disagree, then you disagree. I never do actually state it as fact, I only build an argument with pertinent examples to explain my point and validate it. I would like to point out, even though the common bug and rodent Pokemon were present in Gen 2 and 3, the variation in appearance and style is quite large. In the next two games, that difference between the Pokemon and their Gen 1 equivalents began to diminish (all save Shinx and the bug commons). |

The conversation is now going in painfully obvious circles.
WE'VE run out of ideas. |

Err... neither raccoons nor hyena are rodents. So that's actually a pretty big deviation for gen 3. But yeah, this has been talked about before.
Since this is France, I wonder if we'll be getting any weird spindly poodles. |

Imo the biggest diversion is Bibarel with his secondary Water typing.

Has anybody even looked closely at Froakie's "Water Gun"?
Because if you have, you will have seen SNOWFLAKES! The attack was ICE BEAM! Ice type frog anyone? |

The pointed crystal-looking things accompanying the pillar during froakie's attack are meant to be rings of froth. However, it's harder to replicate good looking froth in a 3D game than it is in other 3D mediums, especially when it's likely that the footage used in that commercial was still a few steps away from the final product. We know it's a Water-type attack, because a gushing sound is played while it is executed. This has been inferred and decided upon to be as close to factual evidence as we can get pointing towards the conclusion that, while it is within the realm of possibility that Forakie can evolve into a Water/Ice type (is he blue raspberry flavored?), the technique used in the commercial is more than likely a Water-attributed technique instead of an Ice-technique. God, i'm so sick to death of this. Game Freak needs to give us an update on their footage and put this rumor to rest. EDIT: This is not a funny joke. I get so mad at this stuff because I studied the footage several times to look for pointers for my school projects. Nobody notices the blue spirals encircling the pillar, the fact that the froth rings change from light blue to blue, or the rough splashing animations that happen when it hits Pansear. I'm sleeping at night because I'm sure that Game Freak is working on a much more fluid animation with smarter particle effects. To me, it was pretty obvious that he was using either Water Gun or Hydro Pump, but I can see where people who don't study games, commercial advertising, or animation would get confused and try to read between the lines. GF would have to feel an intense level of shame if that animation is a part of their final product. I just don't want to wait until October to see for myself. Considering how bad the battle graphics were in BW, I don't think they have any shame in that respect.

If this is france, we should have… Knights Poodles Baguettes Skinny Moustache Pokemon Remember, the last region was based off NY. Did we get any typically AMERICAN pokemon? Save Vannillish (and I think ice cream is pretty much EVERYWHERE) we didn't get anything american. We got the same random pokemon we always do to fit the game. I highly doubt they are making pokemon designs based off of French animals just because the region may be France. Note to people who don't like me saying this Yes you are allowed to speculate Yes you can have your own ideas But I am pointing out the rediculousity of these ideas Do I think a poodle pokemon would be cool? Absolutely. It lends itself well to a lot of different design choices. Same with a Knight or many of the other ideas. All possible. Do I think they may do it? Possibly. As likely as anything else. Do I think they'll do it this gen? Could be. Do I think they'll do it this gen BECAUSE IT'S FRANCE? No. Not at all. They'll do it because it fits well with the other ideas that they have. Quote:

But… but… Top Percentage!
Also, cool poke idea: Russian Nesting Doll Pokemon I think this may have been said before, and if it has, I apologize. If I must, I will, for shaming myself, kill myself like a true samurai (or ninja. Is it ninja's or samurai's who do this? I forget. Maybe I'll just… jump of a table or something. That sound good?)

We know XY have a frog line, though the implications of that in a France-themed region are unfortunate. Other candidate concepts I reckon: A grass type based on grapes or vines. A grass type based on onions. A part-fire humanoid known as the "Riot Pokemon". (OK this is a bit unfair.) Maybe they could make something loosely based around the TGV, or trains in general. Fire/Electric Torkoal evo perhaps.

Ok, Bouffalant is arguable, and I don't think "American" when I think "Afro" (more "Afro" = African), but Braviary just flew right over my head.
So they represent our Flag, our pollution problems and our obesity issues. That leads to what pokemon based on france?

Anyway, because I had an idea that doesn't ruffle any of my feathers, I've got a new idea about the potential gym types. Not counting the Striaton gym, there are 41 gyms that specialize in a certain type. Some are slightly more abundant than others. Each of the following numbers corresponds to the number of gym leaders (again, not counting Cilan, Chili and Cress) Of the type to the left of the number. Grass-2 Water-4 Fire-2 Electric-4 Rock-3 Poison-2 Psychic-2 Ground-2 Flying-3 Bug-2 Normal-3 Ghost-2 Fighting-3 Steel-2 Ice-3 Dragon-2 Before Gen V, there were 2 or 3 of each of the sixteen types used in gyms. Gen V made a weird imbalance, and Game Freak might look to balance it out by using gyms with the less popular types. I'd like to think that Fire, Poison, Psychic, Bug, Steel, Dragon, Ghost, and Ground will all be used since they're eight of the nine most underused, but that's unlikely. Electric seems to be the company's personal favorite, so I wouldn't be surprised if the third or fourth gym is another Electric gym. Oh god...I do need to get outside...I guess conventions don't really count as outside....... |
