Basically, here's a thread where you can post the video numbers of the Battle Videos you've recorded and uploaded onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
The Vs. Recorder makes a return from the latter part of Generation IV, and is obtained as soon as you set foot in the entrance to the Battle Subway in Nimbasa City. As in Generation IV, you can use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to upload a recorded Battle Video and download Battle Videos to your Vs. Recorder; although unlike in Generation IV, you can do it from any Pokémon Center instead of the Global Terminal which was in the latter part of Generation IV and tedious to get to. However, now the Global Terminal is gone and everything it did (aside from the removed box photo feature) is doable in the Pokémon Center. To view Battle Videos, use the Vs. Recorder and click on "Battle Videos". (You can change the color of the Vs. Recorder by clicking the lines on the side, but only when you use it as an item in Browse Mode.) You can record Battle Subway battles, battles held over Infrared, battles held over Wireless Communication, or battles held over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Random Matchup. You cannot record in-game battles, not even ones against your rivals, Team Plasma, or the Pokémon League. You can also only have one Battle Video recorded at a time, although you can store up to three downloaded videos. (you can download your own videos) You shan't worry about losing them if you upload the ones you want to keep and post them here. (Please note that you cannot record battles you fought on an Entree mission in the Entralink.) Battle Videos are the equivalent of warstories for Wi-Fi and wireless. Feel free to write notes in your post for us to read while we watch your battle, to make it more like a warstory. In Generation IV, doing this to make it more like a warstory would have been hard to do, but Battle Video watching got a major upgrade: the bottom screen now says what turn it's on and how many turns there are in the battle, and you can also toggle between turns. That's right; you can now say what turn your commentary refers to without the viewer having to count. This means that this is a lot more epic than a warstory could ever be, as you can actually see the battle. Let's start with mine. Here's a Battle Video of my first fight with Subway Boss Ingo, and a reminder of why your Flying Gem Archeops should always have Earthquake. 87-57355-61049 Last edited by TorchicBlaziken; Mar 16th, 2011 at 9:34:08 PM. |

I LOL'd too, seeing it happen. It had Rock Slide, Crunch, and Fly.
I replaced Crunch with Earthquake after the battle. I'd had trouble with Klink and Klang earlier on, and I was worried there'd be a Klinklang. And there was. I shouldn't have trouble getting to that point again. Besides, I'd only ever used Acrobatics and Rock Slide on the way. |

There are a bunch of steps, but it all starts with the lady at the top-right of the Pokemon center. It sort of leads you through it from there.

I had this Idea for a VGC team I wanted to try but I couldn't find any VGC takers so i just put my TR set up and my Sweeper (and four other random pokemon) in a team and asked for a standard OU to see if I could be victorious using only my Lead and Sweeper. Here is what happened.
27-32190-76835 It's a little bit of a stall war as his Sigilyph wouldn't go down. But I like the idea of being able to view each others videos so I thought I'd add my first one to the thread. Hopefully I'll be able to get some better ones in the future. |

But speaking of Trick Room, here's a video [81-97442-77494] of my Trick Room team Vs. a guy who tries to set up four sweepers. Not a high class battle by any means (you see me KO an opponent when I should've just waited to restart Trick Room, as I had time, which honestly could have led to a VERY amusing Cofagrigus sweep, I decide not to Wild Charge/Megahorn a Starmie out of fear of a focus sash, he tires to KO an Aggron with +2 ExtremeSpeed), but it might be amusing to watch.

I'll have a look. The psycho shift miss was quite a blessing.
I'm really interested in trying to focus my VGC team around Beartic. I'm not really solid with gen five TR just yet so it will take a few goes to get my team right but Beartic seems like a viable option for now. |

Hm, I hope this thread gets more responses. I like watching other people's battles and seeing what tactics they use. Here's a couple more videos for anyone who wants them.
1. 26-39851-60433 (Just some team I'm trying to make in progress vs. a sun team. Scarf Braviary, DDsun-Dragonite, Stall-based Ninetales and Cobalion might be interesting reasons to watch.) 2. 41-55345-37927 (Trick Room Vs. Trick Room, Nasty Plot Cofagrigus semi-sweep.) 3. 98-68466-71409 (Trick Room Vs. Sand Team)

For those of us without easy Wi-fi access it would be great if those with Youtube accounts could post their videos there so we can see these battles.

Hm. Not sure why this thread isn't more popular; good concept. Anyways, I've got a video of a random battle from a while ago which is... Well, I found it pretty great, but it might not be... anyways, here it is:
17-11901-94007 psuedo-narraration: Turn 1: drought... Of course. "This'll be easy" I thought, as I (believe) I had 2 dragons at the time, but only decided to bring one. Anyways, I saw the balloon and wasn't worried, as I had no ground attacks. I switched out, since I didn't know if I could take the oncoming solarbeam. Hydreigon takes it much better than I thought. Turn 2 + 3: I'd never seen this strategy before, which is why I didn't switch out; I did know that I'd get outsped, though. Turn 4: Specs'd Hydreigon; Obligatory switch. Took that fire blast pretty well, considering it's pretty much neutral. Turn 5: Gastrodon... The Bane of my existance, seeing as Fissure doesn't really miss (30% accuracy my foot...). Surf wouldn't have done crap in the sun, so I decided to just go for the toxic instead. Turn 6: I KNEW it was coming. KNEW it; I knew it when I saw the team preview. Turn 7: HA! fool'd some of ya. Had it hit, I would have lost; but since he (she?) didn't know it was a Zoroark, he went for the Ice beam; However, if my opponent was observent, they'd know that levitate activates over a miss (i.e. If it was a hydreigon, it would have gone straight to levitate; no mss message.) I had a sash, so even if i got hit, i would have gotten 1 attack off. I go for the NP instead. Turn 8: A bit suprised it lived; I guess because if the toxic it was insignificant, but still. Even more suprised I lived. Turn 9: Zoroark was nearly dead, And I knew I was faster, so I didn't even worry about the Disable. He did his job well. (I truly wonder what that Ninetales lived with...) Turn 10: I knew that he knew I was choice'd. So I knew what he would do. Turn 11: /Obligatory switch. Took it like a champ. Turn 12: Decided to stay in and take it like a man. Too my suprise, that did MUCH less than I originally expected. I actually debated using toxic this turn; good thing I didn't, as it probably would have missed. Turn 13: His last... Charizard. That was CLEARLY a game changing crit. jk of course; I knew there was no chance of me living; A tackle probably would have done me in at this point. Time for the final "dragon" showdown. Turn 14: "Alright, lets see... I honestly have no idea what to do. With my luck, draco meteor will probably miss; ah well. GG Random Japanese person; It was a good match." I was in absolute AWE. I seriously cried out in joy; that's how amazed I was. By far the best, and closest match I've ever had. Thanks for reading (If you did, which I doubt) |

An example of Curse used by a ghost with some effectiveness. The JP double battle players are insane. I won my first battle against one, then it's all been downhill. Oh well, back to the drawing board. 72-95417-25913 Abusing his Drizzle. Very close match, I won do to some Blizzard miss-hax.

Winning the match with exactly 1 HP. Shows how much work my team needs, if I almost lost to a guy with Quick Claw Bronzong.

That guy with the Cofagrigus Trick Room set up was crazy. Mental Herb for taunt and encore users huh? He really wanted to prevent people from ruining his set up. I didn't think he would do so well with curse either.
I'm not too sure on what the tactics behind Drizzle-Blizzard was. Just quick powerful field hitting attacks? I dunno, seemed like he could've done that with surf too, since most of his team resisted water, but eh. And the Whimsicott display was some evil use of the lack of evasion clause in random wi-fi.

It WAS cheap, but oh well. I'm trying to replace Double Team for U-Turn or Taunt, though.

A video of my Dunsparce, Emonga and Roobushin against a Thundurus, Rotom-W and Reuniclus. Guess who wins. I had to save this battle, it was epic in my eyes. EDIT: Also, if you don't mind watching a 21-turn battle (in 3v3, lolwut), and want to see how useful Mandibuzz is, then I had this battle a while ago. I'm actually suprised that they didn't disconnect.. Number is 19-79577-78359.

Battle between me and a Japanese guy with 1000+ wins. Random Battle, Singles. He plays very well and makes very excellent switches, but it just goes to show you that the unpredictable nature of Random Battles means that even excellent plays can backfire on you. |
