Another Smogcast, another excellent way to pass the time. As Ulevo stated, it would have been better to have more objective comments at times, but I love the overall tone of the Smogcast. The laid-back and candid feel is just what is needed for this kind of state-of-the-metagame discussion to be interesting. The OU discussion frankly has gotten a bit stale, and I look forward to you guys talking about the Ubers metagame in the future. It needs to be plugged so badly! The Smogcast really is incredibly influential, so...

Anyway, thanks for making the Smogcast possible!

This was first, and possibly last, Smogcast I will listen to.

I was expecting some kind of educated discussion about the state of the metagame, point and counter-point type debate. Facts, numbers, theories and ideas.

What we have here is actually just opinionated, filled with loaded language. I'm sorry but "Fucking" and "Retarded" are not good ways to get a point across. I feel like this kind of a display detracts from Smogon's reputation, and frankly it makes the people in the podcast sound like buffoons.
If I wanted facts and numbers, I'd go and read the usage stats.

I would much rather listen to a Smogcast filled with swearing than listen to a "prim and proper" one. And "opinionated" is certainly up to, ironically, opinion, but I enjoy listening to the opinions of the panel because it adds flavor, and it's much more enjoyable than hearing the same thing from everyone.

Also, lol hiatus after 9 posts.

The only complaint I have about Smogcast 9 is that it feels shorter than the other B&W OU Rounds, but I guess that's to be expected when it's the 3rd entry.

After listening to the cast a few times, I noticed just how aggressive the hating on KG was. Is there a reason for it?

What Jabba said. KG's a cool guy and a great player, but it's just too much fun to rag on him running stall all the damn time.

I really liked smogon before listening to this podcast...liked being the key word there.

I had to turn it off after only 5 minutes. Hearing poor audio quality of what sounds like a bunch of immature kids who think stringing together profanities is funny speaking what should be common knowledge (A Pokemon that's main weakness is fire is hard to kill in the rain? I never would have guessed that!) is not entertaining or helpful in the least.

If this is the best group of members you could find to run a podcast, then Smogon looses most all of my respect for the site as a whole. I'm not sure if I'll ever return here again.

i don't know where the idea that we find stringing profanity together is "funny"

we're not sitting there going "fuck" hahahaha i said "fuck"
that's just how we normally talk. most of what was recorded was just general conversation so what dubs ended up having to do is pull pokemon talk out of the general conversation, so we were just in our normal conversational tones. i'll admit this smogcast really isn't up to par (it was meant to be live so it wasn't structured as well as it should have been), but to say you'll never come back to smogon because of 4 people having a normal conversation over pokemon is a joke.

and if you think you're above people who use profanity in normal conversations you really need to get over yourself or you're in for a shock when you hit the real world.

I'm 20 tomorrow, attending college twice a week, have a Co-op job as a computer programmer, have more friends then most, and heard more cursing in the first five minutes of that podcast then I do most months if not years. If I haven't met the "real world" yet, then what do you call that place I'm living in?

Fluffy nerf world. The real world is full of all kinds of salty individuals using unsavory language, and if you haven't come across them, you must be in some prudish chunk of the world. The rest of the universe isn't nearly as clean as you make it out to be.

I will admit that this one was a bit over-the-top, and we didn't really prepare for it as much as we should have since we were planning to do it live (and that didn't really work out, so I was a bit annoyed). That said, the profanity level wasn't that high, and considering that we want the Smogcast to sound as natural as possible, and this just happens to be how I talk when I'm around friends. I'll try my best to tone it down slightly for the future, but I don't feel obligated to completely censor my natural speech for some prudish individuals that may be offended.

P.S.: We swore four times in the first 5 minutes. If that's more swearing than you hear in a month, I'm inclined to think you live in a convent.

Twilight Lucario, I edit the Smogcast, and I'm afraid that the audio quality in this Smogcast is the highest that it possibly can be given the parameters of the operation.

We are not paid to produce this. It is not possible for all of the panelists to gather in a studio together to record this (as much as I would love for that to be the case). Instead, the Smogcast is recorded the same way a conference call would be. Surely you are aware that the audio quality over the telephone is not so swell.

What...? They are discussing how good rain still is. Of course the most influential Pokemon that takes full advantage of it should be mentioned sometime.

I don't understand why some people are so hung up on the "unprofessional" nature of the Smogcast. It's about Pokemon.

You have the entire site to peruse for pretty much all the information you need. Why rely on this for intense instructions?

Hey but, don't you know, Pokemon is serious business.

So that this is on topic-ish, are you guys going to try to do a live cast for number 10? If you got the problems figured out from your last attempt, that is.

Alright this IS the same word(translated) that a well known AND very succesful writer that is VERY FUCKING Famous in my country said when someone ask :

Why do you use swearing and harsh word on your works ? Could you explain ?

Answer : One of the most important things to make some works a better experience is to go out and dont use polite etc words and use something that is more "common" to make the book more interesting for example he talked about how one guy ask his friend to buy him fried chicken. He talked in the "polite" version and normal version.

I must say hearing the polite version make me sick so much that i want to spit on that guy. That is exactly what happen with the smogcast. Its been like this since the first one and that is not a really big problem. I must say making polite smogcast will just make me sick of hearing that.

Believe me, living is more than having jobs and doing "supossedly" good daily course. Its also about HOW we manage our relation and accept others way of living. I do school, i do study and i make good friends with most people etc but i must say my life is really lacking the big touch because i cant really handle any and every kind of people. If you just want to have relation with a selected group of people that you believe they must act like you want they to be, believe it, you wont succeed.

finally, content wise, this cast is really great. They thought out the really great pokemon, how do they work, and actualy test them. AT LEAST give respect. Just because of cursing it doesnt mean its BAD
