Hey guys!! So this is my second 5th gen team, and my attempt to stray away from sandstorm completely. I think of this team as a sort of bulky offense (with Conkeldurr representing that well, hence the title), as 4 of my pokemon can force a very power sweep when my opponents team is weakened well. I think I've hit the 1300s in ranking on the PO server, which is pretty big for me.
Changes in RED The TEAM Team Building Process
...
![]() Mienshao (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Regenerator EVs: 196 Atk / 96 SAtk / 216 Spd Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef) - Hi Jump Kick - Toxic - Taunt - Hidden Power [Ice] Switching Metagross for Mienshao was a fanastic idea, and between team preview and Chimpakt's specialized attacks, i can take on bulky ghosts by toxic them, slower stealth rock users with taunt, gliscor with hp ice, or simply fire off extremely powerful HJKs. Mienshao's role is definitely that of an anti lead, preventing those nasty rocks from coming up. My only big concern is that hes not too bulky, and even with regenerator he cant come in too easily mid game if hes eaten some damage early on. It also limits my ability to get the rocks up quite as early as i want. Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon Trait: Flash Fire EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Fire Blast - Earth Power - Stealth Rock - Hidden Power [Electric] Heatran is my sun team destroyer and also my switch in for fire attacks. Heatran causes so many switches its ridiculous, allowing me to set up on anything except other heatran. They are generally beaten though as long as my balloon is still intact. Keeping his balloon intact is even more important for taking on Excadrill, in case my enemy decides to bring him in early. Heatran is now a slower stealth rock user, with the loss of Flame charge. For him, im trying to find a proper ev set to reliably set up those rocks. Hes my primary fire switch in, and sometimes even against ground moves if his balloon is good. With Hidden Power Electric, i get something nice to hit bulky waters, but as ive found out, he cant stay in to them (duh!) so hp electric sees very little use because of that and its low base power. bummer :( im considering a new pokemon as well, but with the right evs maybe he could still work. ![]() Starmie @ Life Orb Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Psyshock - Hydro Pump - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam Starmie is rather fun to use, as many people don't understand how it is so fast. It outspeeds gengar, thunderus, tornadus and latios, and while it can't switch into them, it can certainly threaten them for OHKOs or 2HKOs. It can absorb status, but really hates switching in back and forth just to clear them. Psyshock is really a filler, as it doesn't even do substantial damage to chansey. I've been thinking recover and rapid spin, as well as giving him Expert Belt to fake a choice set. Starmie is almost irreplaceable because he's such a fast pokemon, and Latios fails to outspeed gengar. Still i think Latios' bulk is not to be overlooked, so I would like suggestions on who to pick. ![]() Scizor (M) @ Choice Band Trait: Technician EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bullet Punch - U-turn - Pursuit - Superpower Scizor is so ridiculously hard hitting that i find it hard not to use him. With powerful priority second only to boosted Mach Punches, it can really punch holes into enemy teams that carry fragile sweepers. He's the real gengar counter, and the perfect scout for switches with a hard hitting U-Turn. Being so hard hitting comes at a price, and its the fact that he's completely vulnerable when choice locked. Not too much of a problem but can really hurt give Skarmory and Ferrothorn chances to spike, limiting his ability to switch in and out. Overall hes really good at scouting and taking on those pesky Psychics, taking on Reuniclus and latios with no fear, making a Conk sweep ever the more closer. ![]() Gengar (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Disable - Substitute - Shadow Ball - Focus Blast What a deadly monster this guy is. Sporting a fast substitute and disable, he takes out most fighting types only method of breaking its subs, payback. This forces a switch which allows me to take on many pokemon with a sub protecting me, which makes this guys so amazing. He can take on almost anything, even faster threats while hes behind a sub, and it can protect him from an untimely focus blast miss. Gengar cant switch in to many moves unless he is completely immune to them, but thats good enough because giving him one turn of setup is all he needs. ![]() Conkeldurr (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Guts EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 SDef Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Bulk Up - Drain Punch - Payback - Mach Punch Conkeldurr is simply amazing, and is my prime status absorber/sweeper. With a couple of bulk ups, he can take any physical hit and heal himself back up with a powerful drain punch. It isn't hard for him to set up either. He has plenty of opportunities to set up on Ferrothorn and Blissey/Chansey. Conkeldurr doesnt take special attacks too well, but considering as he's my lategame sweeper it doesnt matter too much. Threats? Anything that fires off a powerful electric move (e.g. Rotom-W) eats my team, as something going down to take that hit. A very dedicated stall team could shut down this team, but I've hardly seen those around TBH. Rain Teams are huge threats, and i really have no way to counter them, especially their power water and electric moves. Top priority is countering them. I've just realized how rain teams can also abuse non choice azumarill to destroy my team. Thanks guys ! So what do you guys think?

Try HP ice on Heatran, you keep your dragon coverage, most times it goes from x2 to x4 super effective against dragons because of their secondary typing, but it also helps you hit defensive counters such as Gliscor

I would give heatran Stealth Rock over Flame Charge and maybe HP [Electric/Grass/Ice] over Dragon Pulse, since you said you fail to OHKO Dragons anyway. Choose whatever you feel works best when testing it out.
Since you have a reliable stealth rocker in heatran, I would replace Metagross with Mienshao. It is a pretty good lead with Fake out + Uturn, but it can also help you set up a sweep with Conkeldurr. With a neutral nature and 96 special attack EVs, Mienshao OHKO 252/0 Gliscor 100% of the time with Life Orb hidden power [Ice]. Combine that with your scizor taking out ghosts/psychics with pursuit, there's not much that can take a boosted Drain punch. I don't know what would be the perfect Mienshao set for your team but you should play around with it and test it. Mienshao @ Life orb 196 Attack/96 SpA/220 Speed Fake out U-turn HiJumpKick Hidden Power [Ice] Toxic Taunt It have enough speed to outspeed Jolly Landlos and finish it off with HP Ice if its not scarfed [BIG IF]. I don't know how much you want Priority fake out or another uturner so that's why I am just giving you suggestions. Toxic would be for Jellicent's that come in on HJK. The only thing that I could see as a really big threat to your team is Skarmory at the moment, but that could be relieved by making your starmie less offensive and giving it rapid spin.

I would try Subsplit Gengar because it severly dents Blissey who you shouldn't have problems with, but it would arguably do better than Disable. Using LO and Substitute can LOWER your health alot. Then Painsplit just recovers all your health and u can return to ur vicious cycle
