I got 41 in Multi battles using

Heatran @ Choice Specs/Life Orb
Modest
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Dragon Pulse
Iron Head

Salamence @ Choice Band/Life Orb
Hardy
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Fire Blast

I usually teamed up with Buck since I found her teams were most complimentary to mine. I narrowly lost to a team consisting of a Special Sweeping Tyranitar, a Milotic holding a Salac Berry, Screech Electivire and a Leech Seed, Double Team, Toxic, Giga Drain Tangrowth.

Yep, it is illegal, Gengar cannot learn CM.

In my second try, I lost to Palmer's second team in battle 49. Stupid Regigigas freezing Garchomp! Bleh, I misplayed anyway.

Ah. I always thought it was a strange name for a girl. lol.

I also got Tabitha's, Bugsy's and Motry's genders mixed up in the past. They need to be a tad more clear about things like this, or I need to be more observant...

Diamond team which was using the similar pokemon for the Pearl team that got to 105 now has a record of 84 wins as it died on the 85th battle facing regice, abomasnow & mamoswine. Looks like I'll need to get something to counter ice types better on my party.

Current party though garchomp not same as one used in pearl party:

Modest natural-cure Starmie: 20 / 29 / 17 / 31 / 27 / 31
252 sp.atk/speed, 6 HP
holding expert belt
- surf
- ice beam
- psychic
- thunderbolt

Adamant female Tyranitar: 31 / 31 / 16 / 10 / 21 / 31
86 hp, 252 attack, 172 speed
holding lum berry
- dragon dance
- taunt
- crunch
- earthquake

Adamant male Garchomp: 24 / 31 / 21 / 28 / 24 / 31
32 hp, 252 attack, 224 speed
holding choice scarf
- outrage
- dragon claw (should I replace with fire fang or aerial ace?)
- earthquake
- crunch

Yeah, read this entire thread, there's a lot of good advice in here. General rules of thumb though are to not have any two pokemon weak to a particular type, and that speed really, really goes a long way in the Battle Tower, even more so than in Advance, it seems.

I made a somewhat slow team that got me to rank 9 in the online battle tower; the team is Yanmega, Snorlax, and Metagross.
However, I believe the Yanmega is hacked, as I just realised it knows "protect" over "detect"? Can Yanmegas learn both, or is whoever gave it "protect" an idiot?

Question for Jumpman16: is there any significant difference between having a DDTar with adamant and 172 EVs in speed vs. jolly with max speed? I just recently re-bred for a DDTar as jolly and max attack/speed and am thinking of having one version with taunt to deal with the likes of ludicolo & dusknoir and other double teamers and another with stone edge to deal with those pesky ice types in the later round. I just want to get my diamond version up to 100 wins just like in my pearl version. It bewilders me that I was so lucky doing it in pearl and am struggling with diamond.

Multibattle Streak of 41

I used..

Tauros@ Choice Band
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spd, 6 HP
Nature: Adamant
~Rock Slide
~Earthquake
~Zen Headbutt
~Return

And..

Dragonite@Life Orb
EVs 252 Att 252 Spd 6 HP
Nature: Adamant
~Outrage
~Dragon Dance
~Fire Punch
~Earthquake

I teamed with a mix of characters.. Cheryl, Riley, and Marley. Last battle was against Focus Sash Jolteon, Ferligator, Special Slaking, and Drapion was the final Pokemon. It survived a Choice Band Return and OHKOed my Tauros (no intimidate in) with a critical hit Night Slash. Alas.

I found the biggest problem leading with Dragonite is there are so many surprise Ice Beam users, and for those that don't have hidden Ice Beams, Ice Fang is usually around the corner. Teaming with Marley's Starmie helped out a bit, as it'd frequently setup Light Screen for me. All in all, I find multibattles very fun. :)

As my streak is now back to 28 this time using a jolly tyranitar with max attack/speed, I notice it still cannot outspeed the likes of a double teaming skuntank nor Palmer's milotic before the salac berry so I'm still wondering about the benefit of more speed on tyranitar in place of more attack/HP. I'm still re-breeding for a better adamant gible that the one I'm using as both parents have max IVs in hp/attack/speed but the offsprings having been nothing but disappointing so far.

Quick note...Palmer's Milotic outsped my Blaziken before the SalacBerry, even though my Blaziken runs 280 speed (I found out the hard way...oh, hello Hydro Pump). This leads me to believe that Milotic is Timid with max speed, so no amount of speed will allow Tyranitar to outspeed it.

Max speed Jolly TTar gets the jump on all the base 70 speed pokes without a +speed nature. That's a pretty good list of pokes at 70 speed. Notable are Metagross, Breloom, Ludicolo, Solrock, Skarmory, Poliwrath, and Lanturn (at 67). All of those can present certain problems for Tyranitar. Some of those own TTar completely (Breloom says hi). Others TTar can hurt, if he can outspeed them. If they are damaged, TTar can finish them off. Many times, I finished off Ludicolo with Tyranitar. If I would have eaten a water or grass move it might KO the big lizard. That max Jolly speed was the difference in winning the match. Same thing with a finishing EQ from TTar on Metagross. Without that speed, I eat a big Meteor Mash and die.

The max Jolly speed is arguably more important when you start Dragon Dancing. It's not uncommon for Tar to sneak in a DD here and there, even when faced against tough SE competition. With just one DD, a max Jolly Tyranitar outspeeds a whole lot of stuff -- Starmie, Azelf, Ambipom, Lati@s, Tauros, and Gengar come to mind. He also outspeeds attack-natured Aerodactyl, Jolteon, and Crobat. Some of these pokemon are easily handled by Tyranitar without the boost. But, in the BT, hax, crits, and status are very common. It's nice to OHKO without risking anything.

You can build your team however you want. But, I suggest you go max speed Jolly with Tyranitar.

So far jolly tyranitar has been great as it still survived steelix' iron tail as I currently using one with taunt to prevent shuckle from double teaming and may use another version with stone edge for later rounds with the pesky ice types. I'm still working on getting a better adamant garchomp so it can survive some ice shards at least. My streak is now back to 42 as that was a round I often had trouble with many times before.

Re: Jolly Tyranitar

When playing the Battle Tower with Tyranitar, I love the frequent Eevee-theme teams. Inevitably, Jolteon, Espeon, or Glaceon show their face -- which is a green light to bring in Tar, Dragon Dance several times, and pimp-slap the rest of the team.

However, one time, I was reminded of why Jolly Tyranitar is the better nature for the BT. An Eevee team showed up, Glaceon led, and I switched in Tyranitar and danced. Glaceon Yawned. I decided to KO with Rock Slide instead of dancing again -- knowing my Lum would heal the sleep, and not wanting to get yawned again. Next comes Jolteon. I got greedy and danced again, figuring I'd make Jolteon my bitch no matter what, and with a few more DD's, I could wipe up any troublesome Leafeon, Vaporeon or Umbreon waiting in the wings. Jolteon T-waved me and my lum was gone, so my speed advantage was irrelevant. I was haxed with full paralysis for the next several turns, while Jolteon proceeded to shove super-effective Iron Tails up my ass. Eventually, I was KO'd and humiliated. Fortunately, Scarfchomp came in, rofl'd at Jolteon, and mopped up the rest of Team Eevee.

Actually I learned three lessons in that fight:
1) Don't fool around with paralysis in the Battle Tower
2) Iron Tail Jolteon can piss on Tyranitar
3) Life can be a whole lot easier if a one-DD Tyranitar outspeeds base 130 speed opponents

Well. I found this on GameFAQ.. and this is pretty accurate:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/925602/49097 (credit goes to him) and
http://mewn.psupedia.info/Pokemon/BTMovesets.htm
The first time you fight Palmer, he uses the following Pokemon:

Milotic @ Salac Berry
Timid; EV Trained in Defence and Speed
Marvel Scale
~ Hypnosis
~ Hydro Pump
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Recover

Rhyperior @ Expert Belt
Quiet; EV trained in Attack and Special Attack
~ Flamethrower
~ Ice Beam
~ Thunderbolt
~ Rock Wrecker

Dragonite @ Wide Lens
Adamant; EV trained in Attack and HP
~ Stone Edge
~ Dragon Rush
~ Aqua Tail
~ Iron Tail

Apparently rank 10 is the highest rank achievable; I wasn't promoted after winning 7 times at this rank.

I just started playing the Wi-Fi BT and I'm already annoyed at all the Focus Sashers. Do you people just pick a random room when you play? There really isn't any major differences between rooms 1-50, right?
