International Wi-Fi Tournament - Autumn Friendly [OVER - Rankings Released Nov. 1st]

An official tournament has been announced to take place over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. It will go by the name of the 'Autumn Friendly' and is the first official international Wi-Fi tournament ever (it has taken place in Japan already). During the tournament, you’ll play against other Trainers online, using your Nintendo DS system and your Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version game. The better you do, the higher you’ll rank. Then, at the end of the tournament, all the results will be posted to the leaderboards on the Global Battle Union website! There are only ~~10,000~~ 35,000 spots available, during the sign up dates listed below:

Sign Ups: Oct 12 - Oct 19 ; via Global Battle Union website
Battles: Oct 20 - Oct 24 ; via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection

Double Battles
Flat Battle (lv.51+ rounded down to 50)
Unova Pokémon Only
Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Keldeo, Meloetta & Genesect banned

Item Clause is expected to be in place as it always is for Official Tournaments, although it's not mentioned on the website currently. Pokémon must be placed in your Battle Box and the Battle Tournament option will be utilised.

Nintendo had the rule scripts done,
This tournament was run about 9 months ago in japan, so they are bringing it to the US
I'm happy we are actually getting this.

Hate to sound hopeful, but I'd love to see the top 3 placing Trainers get to choose a DW Pokemon of their choice. Hopefully the winners would all be from Smogon so they could plan on what Pokemon to release. It wouldn't do anything for Ditto, Zapdos, & other Genderless Pokemon, (Since there'd literally be one in existence. Wouldn't exactly consider it legal.) but having Female Shroomish, Garchomp, Mamoswine, Infernape, or...Riolu legal would be very awesome.

I struggled to even come up with 5 noteworthy non-genderless DW Pokemon. We're starting to hit the bottom of the 1st-4th Gen barrel now.

Regardless of if they're awesome & do that or not, I'm still hyped.

I don't like that it's doubles battles. It will be fun to make teams out of strictly Gen 5 Pokes though.

The most interesting thing (in my opinion) is that the battles will have no permanent weather available. That will definitely be a refreshing change of pace.

You do realize that doubles has been the format since 2008. It is nothing new.
