Default Seaking (QC 0/3)

[Overview]
• Stats are lacking
• Access to 2 great abilities in Lightningrod and Swift Swim
• Decent base Attack
• Access to Rain Dance and Agility
• Water typing

[SET]
name: Rain Dance
move 1: Rain Dance
move 2: Waterfall / Aqua Tail
move 3: Megahorn
move 4: Return
item: Life Orb / Damp Rock
ability: Swift Swim
nature: Jolly nature
evs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
• Rain Dance lets Seaking double its Speed for 5 turns and power up its STAB
• Waterfall is a reliable stab move with a 20% flinch chance that is boosted by rain
• Aqua Tail is 10% stronger, but is also 10% less accurate
• Megahorn provides Seaking with good coverage to hit Grass-types
• Return provides almost unresisted type coverage when combined with Waterfall or Aqua Tail
• Damp Rock sacrifices the extra power than Life Orb grants Seaking for 8 turns of rain in comparison to 5
• 184 Speed EVs lets Seaking outrun Jolly Choice Scarf Primape after a Rain Dance

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
• Seaking can run Substitute over Rain Dance if your team already has rain support
• Works well on rain teams
• Appreciates the help of other Swift Swimmers such as Kabutops and Omastar
• Appreciates hazard support

[SET]
name: Agility
move 1: Agility
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Megahorn
item: Life Orb
ability: Lightningrod
nature: Hasty
evs: 72 Atk / 252 SpA / 184 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
• Agility lets Seaking boost its lackluster Speed
• 184 Speed EVs lets it outrun Jolly Primeape after an Agility
• This set takes advantage of a great asset to Seaking in Lightningrod
• Switch Seaking on a Pokemon such as Galvantula using Volt Switch to grab a Special Attack boost
• Hydro Pump provides great power
• Ice Beam provides coverage
• Megahorn rounds off the set by hitting off of Seaking’s decent base Attack stat and rounding off coverage

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
• Can easily set up on Pokemon that rely on paralysis such as Uxie
• “Surprise” ability of sorts
• Surf could be used over Hydro Pump for reliability, but Seaking really needs the power
• Hidden Power Fire can be used over Megahorn with a Timid nature to hit Ferroseed
• Appreciates hazard support greatly

[Other Options]
• Hidden Power Fire
• Surf
• Substitute
• Water Veil prevents Seaking from being burned, but it is outclassed by Seaking’s other abilities
• Hidden Power Grass
• Hidden Power Electric
• Signal Beam

[Checks and Counters]
• Ferroseed causes trouble for all variants of Seaking
• Not all that bulky, so priority can handle it
• Poliwrath
• Munchlax eats the Agility set alive
• Scarf variants of Galvantula and Manectric outspeed it, and can hit it with a Bug Buzz or Hidden Power Grass, respectively

What does Ice beam hit? You have it in the ac of the first set, but what does it hit?

I took it out just now. It didn't strike me for a minute that Seaking's uninvested Special Attack was 166.

I'm sorry, but Seaking is just...well, bad. Terrible stats, outclassed by other Swift Swimmers (Megahorn does not make up for the terrible Attack stat) and Lightningrod is a cool gimmick but it just isn't any good.

QC REJECTED 1/3
