This is a Swiss style tournament using VGC 2012 rules. I have also confirmed that players will receive Play! Points for their participation in this event. This is an excellent opportunity to practice before Regionals.

I've been to two of these and they are a lot of fun. I can't make this one, unfortunately.

A few deviations from standard VGC to keep in mind:
  • Battles are via IR, meaning Team Preview is OFF.
  • Due to IR, battles are 6v6.
  • IR is on, but Wonder Launcher is still not allowed.
  • Matches are Bo3 with 15 minute time limit for each battle.
  • IR forces level 50 for Pokemon that are below level 50.

Again, from the organizer:

"This will be a double battle format and you will place 6 Pokemon in your Battle Box, pick 4 for the double battle against your opponent.
  • Prior to the start of the battle, the Pokémon on each player's team will be displayed to their opponent briefly. Moves and held items are not displayed
  • While viewing the Pokémon on their opponent's team, each player selects four Pokémon to use during the battle, and sends out two Pokémon at a time. The Pokémon that a player selects and the order of those Pokémon remains a secret until they are revealed during battle.
  • A 15-minute time limit for each match will automatically be enforced in-game, beginning at the start of each battle. If the outcome has not been determined by the end of the time limit, the game will automatically apply tiebreakers to determine a winner.
  • At the beginning of each turn, players will have 1 minute to select moves for both Pokémon, or the change Active Pokémon. If a player has not made his or her selections at the end of this period, the game will automatically make selections for the player."

Yeah, the organizer implemented the "paper" team preview system last week at KS States and it worked really well. Sorry for not updating my post.

Did you go? How was it?
