Little Cup Teambats

~LC TEAMBATS~
Credits to my boys in NU for the thread.

That's right, they're finally here! In the same vein as NU and other tiers, we will be starting teambats for all you LC fans out there.

In a teambat you are assigned to one team with various other competitors and together you create a team based on specific restrictions given to you in a specified amount of time (20 minutes). Some restrictions may be for both teams (such as no using any of the top 10 Pokemon in x month's usage stats) and some may be for only one team (for example, both teams may be required to build a team around a Pokemon, be it the same Pokemon or two Pokemon of comparative in game or usage stats). After you build your team, you go fight the other team(s)!

The teambuilding part of the teambats will take place on the irc #littlecup channel and the battling part on the Smogon server. (If Smogon is down, another server will be used.) After you are put in a team, one of the people on your team makes a channel for the team and that's where you discuss the team-building and such. For the battle, one member is chosen by their team to battle for their team, they may consult their actions with their teammates. It can be very stressful during these teambats as you have a limited amount of time and your teammates may not be the most reliable, but that's part of the fun! Sometimes unique, potentially tier-changing discoveries may be found in these teambats!

Overall, these teambats will attempt to encourage participation of both new players and pros in LC. If you are interested in participating and have some time to spare, come on to #littlecup! Teambats can be as large as the number of people that want to participate in them. In general, try to keep the teams at 3-5 people (if necessary, more than 2 teams can participate).

Teambats Schedule

Do not start a teambat unless it is the scheduled time. Anyone with aops or higher in #littlecup is allowed to start teambats at the scheduled time. I'd prefer that the host does not participate so as to reduce bias. If for some reason there are not enough people and the host has to participate, make sure the theme is even for both sides (for example, both teams have to build around the same Pokemon).

What to do if you are hosting a teambat

Anyone with hops or higher will be given first priority when it comes to being a captain. In the case in which not enough people are active or willing to participate, anyone can be nominated as a captain. Being on the winning team of a teambat will earn you 1 point. Points will be reset if we ever feel the need to do that.

We had a teambat this morning!

Rules were teams must be bitype. No team may have more than 2 different types of Pokemon. Dual-type Pokemon count as both types, so having Squirtle, Chinchou, and Omanyte on the same team is illegal, but Omanyte, Bonsly, and Squirtle is legal.

oh and it started at 12:00 PM EST and we took 40 minutes to build teams (bitypes teams are hard to make....)

Ugh, I wish I could have made this second one. These are a lot of fun! I'd highly recommend that anyone wishing to get into LC metagame to give this a shot.

Also, maybe you guys want to post the next scheduled teambat in the OP? That will allow users stopping by to budget their time accordingly ;)

I'm totally for scheduling it! My only thing with that would be please no assigned hosts. People have lives, and as we've learned from the LCC thing, having assigned hosts, whether there are co-hosts are not, really diminishes our chances of having the scheduled LCCs. By assigned host, I mean one or two people, not the whole group of AOPs. 7 people is totally fine since there will likely always be an AOP or SOP online.

About anyone starting it: I kind of want to refrain from doing this for a few reasons. If we have teambats every day, they won't really be as fun anymore. People who aren't on as often will really, really be down on the point system, and we will run out of ideas for the challenge too fast. Plus, I feel like it would be way too messy if anyone can start them. I'm fine with moving down the list of hosts to HOPs, but I'd like some other people's input on this, especially Ray Jay and other #littlecup AOPs and SOPs.

You may notice one of our scheduled times is Saturday at 8 PM EST. That means our first scheduled teambat will be tonight! Hope to see you all there!

Updated the OP to reflect that teambat as well as the new leaderboard.

In the future, let's try to not unban stuff in a teambat. For example, I see people were using Carvanha and Meditite; let's refrain from that. Reason being we want to use these to help introduce new people to the tier, so although the themes can be whacked out, don't unban stuff. Of course, it's not that big of a deal, and if the theme's really good there can always be exceptions I guess.

1) My name only has the first J capitalized, if any letters are capitalized at all.
2) Teambat 4 says Team 1 used a Ferrothorn, but they had a Ferroseed because Ferrothorn is banned in LC

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES may a team go over the time limit. Once you've set a time limit, stick to it. We've had some problems with this recently, so I'm putting my foot down. We'll let the past instances slide, but in the future, I want this to be a rule we stick to. In any case fun times.

Dual-type Pokemon count as both types, so having Squirtle, Chinchou, and Omanyte on the same team is illegal, but Omanyte, Bonsly, and Squirtle is legal. Team 1 won oh and it started at 12:00 PM EST and we took 40 minutes to build teams (bitypes teams are hard to make....) __________________

People have lives, and as we've learned from the LCC thing, having assigned hosts, whether there are co-hosts are not, really diminishes our chances of having the scheduled LCCs. By assigned host, I mean one or two people, not the whole group of AOPs. 7 people is totally fine since there will likely always be an AOP or SOP online. About anyone starting it: I kind of want to refrain from doing this for a few reasons. If we have teambats every day, they won't really be as fun anymore. People who aren't on as often will really, really be down on the point system, and we will run out of ideas for the challenge too fast. Plus, I feel like it would be way too messy if anyone can start them. I'm fine with moving down the list of hosts to HOPs, but I'd like some other people's input on this, especially Ray Jay and other #littlecup AOPs and SOPs. __________________

In the future, let's try to not unban stuff in a teambat. For example, I see people were using Carvanha and Meditite; let's refrain from that. Reason being we want to use these to help introduce new people to the tier, so although the themes can be whacked out, don't unban stuff.
