Cephalava Cephalopod+Lava:  That's CAP3.  That's Omanyte. Omanyte is an ammonite. Ammonites are NOT snails, but they are sqiud-like creatures. Notice how CAP 3 has those same tentacles. And besides, snails did evolve from ammonites. Who cares if CAP 3 is not a cephalopod? It's close enough to a squid, which is.

So I think I should begin forming a slate. The problem with these name threads is everyone pushes themselves to make a name but they don't discuss other names much. These are the ones I like and I think fit (that have been marked as FS):
Escarglow Mollux Bomshelk Toxicone Brimscone Beacone Lot of "cones" I guess, but not overwhelming. And yes, I am partial to my own name lol. If we can get some discussion of these it'd be great.

I saw this one before somewhere, so I don't take credit for it, but whoever suggested Lavalusk is on the right track.
As for me, I think Abaconey is pretty clever Abalone + Cone = Abaconey (I feel like I need the y because otherwise its just Aba+Cone). I think it says more about what the pokemon is (which is a snail with a lava lamp). I don't like the names that try and force a fire and poison element into the name. Comments?

Apart from what you've slated, i also like
Oozone Conchious Fryanide Although the ones you've slated are all good, except imo Toxicone. Sounds too similair to Toxicroak and just doesnt ring as well. |

Fluminee "Fluid" + "Luminous" with the -ous ending replaced with -ee for a cuter name! #cap had a few concerns about this sounding too much like "flume," but I think it should be okay. Thoughts?

Burnoulli Burn + Bernoulli Props to Pwnemon for collaborating on this name! For non physics geeks, Daniel Bernoulli was a famous scientist who worked in fluid dynamics. He is most known for Bernoulli's principle. I think the sound of the name is cute and suits our snailmon. Comments on other names: There are lots of great root words to use for this mon but the challenge is getting it to fit the personality of the design. There are also a lot of overused words being tossed around (including lava, unfortunately). For those reasons my favourites are: Mollux Mollten Condera Fluminee Shelglo (maybe my favourite of all! So simple and sounds nice and uses "glow" which is super cute) Lucona - this one is nice and simple but still pretty different! I like the "Lu" sound for this design. Also to the person who suggested Conevect (Red Riddler), I like this a lot and it has lots of potential I think. You can also put the word viscous in there, like Conevisc or something. I'm sure there's other stuff you could do. Conevect is pretty good as is though!

My personal favorite name is Mollux.
Some of the other names, like Escarglow, may be creative and cute, but are quite a mouthful. Mollux is simple, but fitting. I also like Beacone because it's also simple and clever. Also, Luminusk is a pretty name. |

Final Submission Conewax: cone + wax + convex (the form of the shell, light-bundling effect) One name i really like is Conchious. Just seems to fit the design :) Burnoulli is also amusing, i see the snail doing crazy experiments with that fluids. Though Bernoulli somewhat reminds me of statistics in maths...

These are my top five that others have posted (my own being Oozone):
Brimscone: Even without punning on fiery brimstone, this has a natural Pokemon feel to it. It rolls off the tongue better than many others. My favorite "cone" name. Beamish: A very cute-sounding name, and it captures the lamp aspect of the CAP. Escarglow: The best punny name we've had, captures both the snail and lamp aspects of the CAP. Doesn't feel quite as natural as the first two. Snoxious: Has a peculiar appeal to me, hard to say why. I like how noxious is in there, since I tried and failed to use it in my own suggestion. Very cute overall. Beacone: Another good name, but I always want to just say "beacon" when I say it aloud. |

None of these names are as good as Escarglow but the whole Escargot pun has been done sooo many times ugh and I hate to contribute to that. Brimscone would work too I guess.
Cargoesce is a play on the whole -escence suffix, indicating change and movement (turbulent chemical change?) and conjuring associations with words like luminesce, incandesce, fluoresce, etc. and also works well by phonetically being a syllabic anagram of Escargot. Also, perhaps it's his "cargo-" that's doing the "-esce"-ing? I don't know. I guess that could be my final submission, whatever.
