Default WTF Pokemon: Stats, Moves, and more

Some Pokemon have some really peculiar coverage options, or a weird level up movepool, containing either misplaced moves or things that are inconsistent with the Pokemon's appearance/Pokedex entry. This thread's purpose is to try and find the outliers, the weirdest instances.

A notable one would be Wooper's ability to use Ice Punch. Another would be the odd case of Pinsir's level up movepool being almost entirely Fighting-type attacks.

Ghastly can use the punches now? That would've been helpful in Gold. Raticate can use ice beam because the normal types are the versatile type they for the most part have the widest range of movepools, Meowth for example is the only non-dark type to learn foul play (Technically theres seedot but he evolves to a dark type).

Maybe it builds up static? I dunno.

Shedinja learning Final Gambit and other moves that require HP, like Substitute.

Normal pokemon learning elemental moves isn't wierd at all. They're versatile pokemon, and learn them either through TMs or through breeding. That isn't really that ridiculous.

Lickitung not getting lick until GSC was pretty silly.

Diglett learning scratch and slash.

Rhydon learning surf seems odd as it's 4x weak to water.

All the bug/flying types not getting fly, despite two non-flying type bugs getting it.

But Mankey and Primeape are Fighting types, whose movepools primarily consist of martial arts or other physical attacks. Thunder(bolt) makes no sense whatsoever.

When I think of ridiculous movepool, I gotta go with Aggron. That thing's movepool is abnormally immense for a Pokemon of its type, literally learning almost every single respectable attacking move in the game, on top of a myriad of support ones. Too bad he can't he can't take advantage of it as much as other Pokes with big movepools like Nidoking can.

As well as Double Edge, Sandstorm, and Rest. However, I think that's just Gamefreak trolling (like how Shedinja yields 2 HP EVs).

I don't see why this is so ridiculous
It probably scratches with the same unseen claws it uses for digging.

TrollFreak strikes again.

Also, armless Wooper can use Ice Punch. You know, with it's face or something.

  • Metang/Metagross w/ Sludge Bomb. Is this like motor oil, or something?
  • Slowpoke line and Flamethrower/Fire Blast (and Incinerate <_<).
  • Lombre/Ludicolo and Fire Punch (and to a lesser extent, ThunderPunch).
  • Wailmer line with Selfdestruct.
  • Munchlax line with Selfdestruct.
  • Magby line with Mach Punch.
  • Victini w/ Glaciate. I know it's an event move, but how in the hell does it blow freezing air at its opponent?

I'll think of more later.

Um, I'll go ahead and link my thread with the exact same topic that like 3 pages down right now into this post. You really need to check a little bit further if you did at all.

I guess movepool oddities also imply lack of moves that a pokemon is supposed to have.

Why doesn't Flygon learn Dragon Dance?
Why doesn't Flareon learn Flare Blitz?

I don't think we want to know. If I may guess, Emboar might be an exception to the norm that the scalding liquid is expelled from the Pokémon's mouth...
