Default Landorus-T (Sub-Bulk) [QC 0/3]

*I saw a Landorus-T main analysis on the second page but since it is done with QC I assume any new set needs a separate thread to valuate it.

[SET]
Name: Sub-Bulk
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Bulk-Up
move 3: Smack Down/Stone Edge
move 4: Earthquake
item: Leftovers
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant/Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Phenomenal attack stat which is begging you to use it (427 with max evs and nature)
  • New nature Intimidate gives you plenty of opportunities to switch in or force switches and abuse this set
  • Substitute blocks things that would otherwise cripple Landorus-T that isn't named Thunder wave, it also makes the foe lose a turn and set up for yourself
  • Because it has good defensive stats to begin with and a sub to take a hit with, you can maximize speed and attack to strike immediately after one bulk up
  • Smack down, besides it being a 100% acc Rock attack being fed with that enormous attack stat, ensures that no one will escape the wrath of earthquakes especially Levitators and Flying types

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
  • Stone Edge is another option for those who want an immediate OHKO and aren't worried about the Rotom-W's or missing against Air Balloon mons
  • Jolly is another option should you find yourself need to score two hits against base 95 speeds
  • If you aren't interested in passive recovery and want to strike immediately after one bulk up or even right after a sub, you can opt for attack increasing items such as expert belt or Life Orb
  • EVs can be fine tuned to achieve more defensive mons, these versions better use more powerful base power moves such as Stone Edge, etc.
  • Since the most problems would probably come from ice shard users who use focus sashes (Weavile, Mamoswine) as well some Bulky Grass types, you might want to pair Landorus-T with your own Ice Type mon

No. We've already decided that Smack Down is inferior to Gravity, while Bulk Up is questionable at best.

QC REJECTED 1/3

Also, if you want me to rate your team (OU/DW OU/Ubers), give me a VM. If I don't rate it, it's either 1) it's so shit it's too much trouble, 2) I'm busy, or 3) the team is fantastic and I have nothing I can suggest to you. You should be able to recognise which one.

I didn't see any serious discussion about bulk-up in the Landorus-T analysis. In any case before you guys close this topic, Smack-Down can OHKO pokemon such as Volca without wasting a turn and it doesn't run out after a couple of turns or requires that your team be built upon gravity.

Bulk-up and a sub comes in handy when played against stall teams and against teams that only have attack focus mons left.

I'll continue to ladder with it to see if I can make any changes, thanks.

Well that's cool to KO a Pokemon that will likely never switch into Landorus-T except to revenge.kill it since most Volcarona are faster than Landorus-T anyway.

Volca needs to set up before killing it and I think the sub was intentional. In any case if there are no serious discussions to be had this topic should be closed, I'll include this set up in my team description and we'll leave it at that.

369 SpA Life Orb Fire Blast does 98% damage minimum outside of the sun.
