Default God I'm so wet! (Rain RMT)

Alright, needing a little bit of help on my rain team, it's my first time planning a team seriously so it's probably filled with mistakes... Feel free to suggest not only moveset modifications but also Pokémon change, I am willing to change them because I probably have holes in my team. Although, I'd rather keep my Slowbro and for the love of god, DO NOT SUGGEST ADDING FERROTHORN. As good as he may be on paper, never such an ugly creature has ever existed. I won't ever have him on one of my teams. God he's ugly. Yuck.

This team is used for Random Matchups on Nintendo DS, so there are some things I simply cannot pull like getting Jirachi, Raiku and the such. Plus each item can only be used once.

Thanks in advance to everyone, I love you all!

TEAM BUILDING PROCESS

Alright so I started with Politoed (Duh). Enough said I guess.

Then comes Slowbro, because I simply love the look on his face and he's been my favorite pokémon in like forever. So much swag. Plus he's rather bulky and can kinda sweep too, at least that's how I feel him.

From the release of Keldeo-R, the little pony seems to pack a respectable punch so I decided to add him to the team.

With two special sweepers on hand, I figured a wall could be pretty useful. And since all of my pokémon so far are water-typed, I wanted to go with something else in order to avoid the noob trap that is "Politoed and five water types I'm gonna pawn trololol!". I chose a pokémon I was already familiar with from White1, my eviolite Porygon2.

For a little more pain on the physical side, I went for Scizor, which gets his fire weakness heavenly reduced in the rain. He also seems to end up on nearly everyone's rain team, so why not?

To round things up, I sincerely had no idea what my sixth team member would be. I was going a little more toward offense from the beginning so might as well head that way full throttle. I was thorn between a thunder-abusing Jolteon or a hurricane-throwing Volcarona... I decided to go with Jolteon for the Volt Absorb that can be useful on switches and the ability to bring back Rain through Rain Dance if needed.

Took Jolteon out in favor of Thundurus-T, since it gets better typing on the defensive side, not being countered by every ground type existing. Plus he gets better coverage, achieving a decent speed (Even though not as great as Jolteon's) with Choice Scarf to allow it to get revenge easily.

IN DEPTH LOOK

Politoed@Leftovers
Drizzle
Bold Nature ( 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD )
-Scald
-Toxic
-Perish SongENCORE
-Protect
Defensive Politoed in order for him to stay alive as long as possible. Since my team already ditches some damage, I figured I didn't need him full offense. Protect allows for a free turn of Leftovers heal. Left Perish Song for Encore, allowing Keldeo to set up if the other team tries to set up or wall on Politoed. Looks like I'll have to go back to breeding.

Slowbro@(I'm really not that good with items)
Regenerator
Bold Nature ( 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 SpA )
-Scald
-Psyshock
-Slack Off
-Thunder Wave
A more bulky Slowbro who can still put pain in the opponent's face. Thunder Wave is there so he can also cripple opposing Pokémon, giving my other sweepers an easier time sweeping.

Keldeo@LifeOrb
Justified
Timid Nature ( 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe )
-Calm Mind
-Secret Sword
-Hydro Pump
-TauntSUBSTITUTE
Calm Mind Keldeo who gets persuasive coverage in his two attack moves. He can switch in on many priority moves that would be aimed at other Pokémon (Aqua Jet, Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch) and shrug them off easily, set up, then sweep. Taunt is more of a filler in case there's a staller on the other team.
Switched Taunt for Substitute to have an easier time setting up with Calm Mind. Might also run Hidden Power Ghost or Dark on him if I get the right IVs.

Porygon2@eviolite
Trace
Bold Nature ( 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 SpD )
-Thunder
-Ice Beam
-Toxic
-Recover
Porygon2 takes advantage of the rain with his Boltbeam combo becoming "Thunderbeam" for great damage and coverage. The 30% stun on Thunder also allows him to carry Toxic instead of thunder wave for Stallers, the last slot obviously kept for Recover so he can last as long as possible.

Scizor@ChoiceBand
Technician
Adamant Nature ( 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD )252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef
-U-turn
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-Pursuit
An average Scizor who can scout and deal decent damage to most threats in OU. Not much to say here as this is the Scizor everyone uses and he fits just as well in a rain team thanks to his reduced weakness.
Switched EVs to Specially defensive Scizor for more bulk.

Thundurus-T@Choice Scarf
Volt Absorb

Timid Nature ( 252 SpA / 4 HP / 252 Spe )
-Thunder
-Volt Switch
-Focus Blast
-Hidden Power (Ice)

Jolteon's replacement as a Special Sweeper focusing on revenge and late sweep. He allows for Volt-Turn/U-Turn juggling with Scizor, making a great switch core to confuse the opposing team. Plus he's a unicorn. With a moustache. Damn. Flying unicorn with a moustache.

Hi there!

This is a pretty nice balanced Rain Team you have here, with your defensive core of Politoed / Slowbro / Porygon2 supporting your sweepers well. One thing I do see is how much you rely on Porygon2 to deal with Special Attackers. Latios and Latias seem like they can be annoying for your team to face, when you have to continually switch in Porygon2 to deal with them, especially considering you lack a Rapid Spinner. Latios has no problem spamming Draco Meteors, and only needs prior damage on Scizor to secure the 2HKO. Latias on the other hand, can easily set up Substitutes on a lot of your team members and start setting up Calm Minds, while you can't touch it. Your only option seems to be Politoed's Perish Song, which is not reliable to deal with Latias. To help with this problem, I recommend you try out a Specially Defensive Choice Band Scizor over your current set. Specially Defensive Scizor allows you to switch in on the aforementioned threats a lot easier. You have a lot easier time Pursuit trapping Latios, as it fails to 2HKO you. Latias on the other hand, really needs to be at +3 / +4 before it actually starts to dent Scizor, while you can repeatedly hit Latias on it's much weaker physical defence to wear it down. This set also gives you a much better check against Rain abusers, such as Keldeo, Thundurus-T and Tornadus-T, as Scizor can take Hydro Pumps / Thunders / Hurricanes a lot better.

I also picked up on your Jolteon set. Given how common Rain is, I really don't see a need to use an additional Pokemon to set Rain up, especially one with such poor defences, and risks being OHKO'd while setting it up. If you play well with Politoed, you really shouldn't need to have another Rain Dancer, as Politoed has a great lead matchup against all other weather starters except Abomasnow, but Hail teams really don't look problematic for you to face. With only one other hard hitting Special Attacker in Keldeo, I think you should take full advantage of Jolteon's offensive power. To help with this, I recommend you test out a Choice Specs Jolteon over your current Damp Rock set. Choice Specs Jolteon gives you a much hard hitting Special Attacker on your team, taking full advantage of the Rain support provided by Politoed. Running Choice Specs on your Jolteon makes it a great revenge killer, with Jolteon's brilliant speed stat, you outspeed many common Pokemon such as Terrakion, Landorus-T, Thundurus-T, Tornadus-T, and the aforementioned Latias and Latios. Equipped with Specs, you can actually leave a huge dent in all of these Pokemon, most notably Latias, making it easy to deal with for Scizor. Choice Specs Jolteon also gels with Scizor very well, a more powerful Volt Switch equipped with Scizor's U-Turn quickly racks up damage on your opponent, and it forces a lot of switch ins for Keldeo to clean up.

Finally, I noticed your Keldeo set. Taunt is an interesting option on Keldeo, as it allows you to shut down a lot of defensive threats. The problem Keldeo has as a sweeper is it's very limited coverage. With your current set, you are walled very easily by common Pokemon such as Jellicent and Latias, both of which look annoying for your team. I think Keldeo would have a much better time at sweeping if you tried out Hidden Power [Ghost] over Taunt. Hidden Power [Ghost] gives Keldeo perfect type coverage, allowing you to hit Jellicent and Latias, both of which are beaten by Keldeo carrying Hidden Power [Ghost]. While Jellicent can Recover up easily, it is 2HKO'd by a +1 Life Orb Hidden Power [Ghost], while Latias cannot win a Calm Mind war if it does not carry Psyshock. Weakening these threats can make it much easier for Jolteon to revenge, and Scizor to clean up with priority.

Cool team, hope I helped!

Thanks for the input on my team buddy, I'm definitely gonna switch my Scizor to special defense. I'd also love to try the hidden powers on Jolteon and Keldeo, I can probably pull it off on Jolteon by catching a ton of eevees but I think I'll have some problems with Keldeo, since I can only get the one Gamestop will be giving through the coming event. I hope he'll get the stats to use HP Ghost...

Hey there nice looking rain team i am suprised why it hasnt gotten to much rates!

Ok you said you wanted to go with a more defensive Politoed while that set is good you could increase its longetivity even longer by changing its set to ChestoRest This Helps your Politoed win the weather war while also being a one time status absorber. The set is still defensive and preforms the exact same role, ChestoRest is good because your Politoed lacks real recovery apart from leftovers. Also your team seem very rain reliant and you wouldnt want your opponent having sandtorm, hail or sun up.

If you decide to go with that Politoed set then there is really no need to run Jolteon with Rain Dance as Politoed will be living a long time. So Choice Scarf Thunderous-T>Jolteon is a good idea because your team really needs a revenge killer and a powerufl Speciall attacker whic Thuderous-T brings to the table. You also make a good offensive core with Keldeo and a nice Volt-Turn core with Scizor.

I firmly agree with Jimbon's suggestion of using Specs Jolteon. Due to his already crack speed, he makes an excellent Specs user. Jolteon also has something going for him over Thunderus-T in its higher base speed stat, which allows it to outspeed an OHKO Thunderus after Stealth Rock and K.O. Dragonite at + 1 speed after its Multiscale is broken with Hidden Power [Ice].

Hello!

This is a good team, but there are some improvements you can make.

First of all, I would suggest adding ferrothorn to your team. He is really good in the..... Just kidding!

I agree with jimbon that choice specs would be a much better item on jolteon. It hits like a truck with thunder.

I would also suggest changing keldeo's taunt to substitute. Substitute allows it to set up on non-threatening pokemon as well as blocking paralysis, which keldeo abhores.

I also find that your team has a bit of a problem with sun teams. Once the sun is up, they can do some major damage to your team. I know you love slowbro, but I think suggesting replacing him with sub/cm latias will benefit your team. After a boost or two, latias can firmly wall most sun attackers. It also works in tandem with porygon2 as the special glue. If you find that you just can't live without slowbro, you can replace porygon2 with latias. Note that replacing porygon2 may open up a slight weakness to scizor.

Latias @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP, 248 Speed, 8 Sp. Def | Levitate | Timid
~Dragon Pulse
~Calm Mind
~Recover
~Substitute

Ah, sub/cm latias. A fair amount of people forget about latias when teambuilding. Dragon Pulse is for nearly unresisted STAB. Calm Mind is for steady boosting and slowly becoming impenetrable on the special side, the side that sun, rain, and hail use the most. Recover is for staying healthy so they don't just whittle you down until you die. Substitute is to block nasty poison and paralysis, two big threats to the calm mind set. It also helps take weak moves from either side, and makes him tank almost everything special with enough boosts.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the team!

I run Protect on my Politoed so he can protect and heal with the leftovers, I don't know if a chestorest would be really more useful though. With leftovers I get some health after each turn, plus I can protect to heal more. With chestorest I can only heal once in the entire fight, even though it's a full heal.

I'm going to back up what King of Blades said about Slowbro being swapped out for Latias. Slowbro is awesome and all, but his typing conflicts with Politoed's, and Politoed is not negotiable on a rain team. If you choose to keep Slowbro, his item should be Leftovers, but since you can't use two of the same, maybe a one of those berries that tone down a super effective hit? Just a thought.
On Politoed, I always found that Encore was a fantastic move with more uses than Perish Song. Pokemon are almost always switching anyways, and you force yourself out with your opponent. Encore can let you switch to the correct wall after an attacker hits you, or you can use it on a set up move, switch to another Pokemon, and set up yourself, or just take it out.
If your looking for HP Ghost on Keldeo, you might want to consider HP Dark instead. You get perfect IVs, but only lose coverage on Toxicroak, who's rare anyways.
Superpowerdude's suggestion of Thunderous T over Jolteon seems like a good idea to me. TT has a massive SP Attack stat, and the power it might lose compared to Jolteon's Specs powered attacks is nullified by the fact that it has superior coverage. TT's Speed is perfect for a Choice Scarf, as it will be able to outspeed many important threats it could not earlier. Finally, TT's typing is superior to Jolteon's. It resists VoltTurn and is immune to Ground moves, while Jolteon cannot take U-Turn or any kind of Ground move.

Finally, is it just me, or is your title innuendo?
