Hey guys I haven't made a decent OU team for like months. I'm not saying this one's decent but hey, it's still good. It's sort of a balanced bulky offense. Since this team is slow, i need you guys to tell me how to counter fast sweepers. My main problem is Infernape since it can smack my whole team with powerful moves and leave dents if i manage to kill it.
And so without further ado, here's the team. Tyraniboah Kills: A Bulky Offense Team Heatran@Air Balloon Ability: Flash Fire EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Nature: Modest ~ Fire Blast ~ Earth Power ~ Hidden Power [Ice] ~ Stealth Rock Here's one of the most underrated sets in history, Balloon Heatran. To me, this is probably the most useful set that Heatran can run allowing it to be a support and offensive Pokemon at the same time. I'm a conservative player and if you're like me, then you can preserve Air Balloon for at least half the match. Heatran is my main killer in the team packing raw offensive power that can decimate even some resists. I chose Modest over Timid as I see no point running timid since Heatran is slow. The moves that I chose give me all the coverage I need to get rid of all the things that can wall my Tyranitar. Earth Power is for opposing Heatran. Reuniclus@Leftovers Ability: Magic Guard EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD Nature: Bold ~ Calm Mind ~ Recover ~ Psyshock ~ Focus Blast Reuniclus is my main counter to Stall Teams and is my late game sweeper. After a few Calm Minds, barely anything can touch me on the special side. Heatran also provides a good support to Reuniclus getting rid of Scizor while Reuniclus gets rid of the blobs. I chose Psyshock over Psychic to win CM wars although sometimes I regret not going for Psychic since Conkeldurr is such a huge threat to my team once Gliscor is down. Focus Blast for opposing Tyranitar and other Steel-types. Tyranitar@Leftovers Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 176 SpA / 20 Spe Nature: Quiet ~ Substitute ~ Focus Punch ~ Crunch ~ Ice Beam And here we go. The Pokemon in which this team is built around. SubPuncher Tyranitar. With the chosen moves, I can hit a lot of Pokemon and dent everything else with Focus Punch. Tyranitar's substitutes are bulky and can survive weak attacks allowing me to use Focus Punch with impunity. Substitute isn't just there for Focus Punching. It is also there to protect me from burns and poison. I don't really mind being paralyzed since Tar is already slow. Also, this set can get rid of Wobbuffet since Tar is immune to Mirror Coat and I can just spam Ice Beam. Gliscor@Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 Spe Nature: Impish ~ Earthquake ~ Ice Fang ~ Protect ~ Swords Dance Most of my teams really can't work without either Gliscor or Scizor -.- Terrakion is such a huge threat that I always have to pack a counter or else I get swept. Gliscor is chosen for this team since I have three ground weak Pokemon and two fighting weak Pokemon all of which Gliscor can take all day. I used the standard SD set so that I can get rid of Bulk Up Conkeldurr which is a threat to the team as well. Keldeo@Choice Scarf Ability: Justified EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Nature: Timid ~ Hydro Pump ~ Secret Sword ~ Hidden Power Electric ~ Surf I had to replace Suicune 'cause I needed a revenge killer and a +1 Gyarados check. I also needed a late game cleaner and Keldeo seems to be able to perform all of these. Keldeo is also a good check against opposing sand teams as Gliscor can't take on a Landorus thanks to the risk of HP Ice. As for the other moves, Hydro Pump and Secret Sword are general. Surf is chosen for the last move to clean up late game and for having a reliable STAB that doesn't miss which is sometimes crucial. This set is walled by Lati@s but I have Tar to threaten them out. ![]() Gastrodon@Leftovers Ability: Storm Drain EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD Nature: Sassy ~ Earthquake ~ Scald ~ Toxic ~ Recover GASTRODON !!! The best wall against Rotom-W. This is also my best check against Rain Teams and Thundurus. Though sometimes Gastrodon is just death fodder (it's not bulky if you look into it), it's not much of a dead weight to the team since Gastrodon performs a really good job at what it does. Not much to say since moves are standard. Conclusion Like I said, fast and strong Pokemon pose a huge threat to this team. I have replaced Jirachi with a Suicune then Keldeo to deal with the threats but I still have trouble against solid stall teams. That's pretty much it. Thanks for reading and leave nice rates. I would appreciate it if you guys would post an actual rate instead of just saying "nice team" though saying that still makes me feel proud of what I've done. A Luvdisc is also nice ;) Threat List

perhaps in place of jirachi you could use the standard Choicescarf Landorus? Or Landorus T.
Hes fast enough to KO alot of set up sweepers. He KOS infernape, Volcarona, Terrakion, salamence, And sooo many more pokes. However using him means your weak to Ice shards from mamo and HP ice from Tornadus again. Perhaps switch Gliscor for Standard spiking skarmory, And set up spikes. This would form the Heatran, Gastro, Skarm core. When played right its nearly unbreakable or at least very very solid. And i feel being bulky offense hazards might do you some good, and weaken those fast frail mons as they scramble to break your core. Overall nice team. PS: Lando can abuse the sand well.

Nice team dude. However, as you mentioned, Infernape is rather annoying. Surprisingly, Hitmontop is a good counter and can fit your team well as it has pretty good synergy with Tyranitar and Reuniclus. I suggest replacing Gliscor with Hitmontop. With access to Intimidate, Hitmontop can lower opposing Infernape and Terrakion's attack stat making it easier for Hitmontop to take the hit. Hitmontop can come in on any of Infernape's attacks and not be OHKO'd. Then, just use Fake Out since it has +3 priority and then finish Nape off with Mach Punch. Same thing with Terrakion. TechniTop would be the set to use as you need the attack damage to be able to kill Infernape.
Hitmontop
The last move really depends on what you want to hit, but 3 priority attacks can actually really help you out. Sucker Punch can eliminate Celebi and the Lati twins who are pretty common switch ins. Hope I helped dude. |

you guys are missing the point here. I need Gliscor in this team as I have no ground immunity and the ability to take on Terrakion.
@Oh Captain: Landorus can't take too much Close Combats even though it's resisted. @Shining Latios: This is going to be a hard choice but then I'd have to take a lot of damage if i'm going to use Hitmontop thanks to sandstorm. I'll be replacing Jirachi and see if it works. BTW, intimidate sorta defeats the purpose of TechniTop. I'll go for Technician EDIT: It doesn't work much :/

I suggested Skarmory in place of gliscor.
Landorus in place of Jirachi...O_o Skarm doesnt get hit by ground, and can indeed take a few CCs.

You also have reuniclus who can take a cc from any terrakion.
But if you llike gliscor that much by all means keep him. i only suggested landorus over rachi because you said your team was slow. he is fast and abuses sand. Thought if you needed speed thats a way to go.

Perhaps you could suggest something else? Landorus sure is strong if in the sand (effectively stronger that Landorus-T thanks to higher SpA and Spe) but then I'll lose a lot.

Might seem a bit unorthodox but a set i've used in the past to some success was
Gliscor @ Flight gem Sand veil Swords dance EQ Acrobatics Rock Polish I went RP over sub because more often then not you can catch a frail scarfer off guard and get a suprise KO, and with sandviel hax in play its not that hard to double dance. Flying ground is also great coverage resisted only by flying dragons, or bronzong really I dunno, might wanna mess with it, you could always use sub over RP if you want something safer

EDIT: oh yeah one problem. Terrakion. CB Stone Edge will now 2HKO. It doesn't work as expected :/

Hm. Maybe you could try CroCune? It handles Infernape really well if it doesn't carry Grass Knot. A Banded Close Combat from Terrakion is a problem though. Dusclops can be a option. It walls Terrakion pretty good. If you want to try them out, here are the sets:

Have you thought of having a semi trick room team? Reuniclus could be Trick Room/Psychic/Focus Blast/Shadow Ball. Then you could bring a ghost type like Cofagrigus or Dusclops to also set up TR. Someone who's actually better than me could probably give you sets, but i'll just give you an idea of TR.

nah Reuniclus is just fine as it is. I'd lose to Scizor if I go for TR

For the ttar, if you want an extra 20 evs, change its nature to modest and change the ivs to 19. Should be around the same speed of 146. Unless the ttar is supposed to be 0 ivs. Then you can still change the ivs and relocate the evs.

Modest Nature defeats the purpose of a SubPuncher. It reduces attack in case you didn't know. I just copied the speed EVs from the Smogon StrategyDex and I believe it is there to outspeed some slower walls and substitute before they can status.

thanks for the suggestion.
currently, I'm testing SubSplit Gengar. It works fine so far and I replaced Reuniclus since Suicune already performs the same role as Reuniclus. Any suggestions? EDIT: gonna update threat list. Stay tuned
