It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that all those substitutions are illegal & why they are illegal. GALLADIATOR
Your failure to make legal substitutions cost you big time, as Jack is quickly taken out as soon as he entered in a flurry of blows! At this point, you are forced to send in Maria, as the Guardians get ready to break further holes in your team!

Okay, so you gain more HP than you lose, but you are using up a lot of energy...At least you took out Ivysaur...

Only one Non-KO Substitution is permitted in TLR before the Boss. Also, considering you plan to kill the Altaria, suppose I shall do this?
GALLADIATOR Windswept Meadow - Berry Tree Hill Not contempt with your party, Altaria simply glows up, before going down in a blaze of glory, taking Maria out in one mighty charge! After the battle, you lick your wounds, as you pick up the Heat Rock & Dragon Gem, before moving on, deeper into the forest...

Windswept Meadow - Ancient Tree Exhausted from your battle efforts, you continue to plod on the path, wondering when this ordeal will end. Lost in your thoughts, you don't realise the huge shadow that you walk under; soon enough, however, you realise it and look up, gasping in awe. A magnificent tree lies before you, wider than three Snorlax lying side by side, and higher than the eye can see. Seeing a hole in the base of the tree, you crawl in excitedly, wondering what lies ahead. While you're still crawling within the tree, you encounter a fork—one that goes left, and one that goes right. Also, for some reason, you look in your bag & realise the seeds you collected earlier have vanished for some reason...Nevertheless, Which way do you go? a) Choose the left fork b) Choose the right fork

Windswept Meadow - Ancient Tree You choose the left fork, but the path seems to be extremely twisty; at some points, they even intersect, making you extremely confused. You eventually crawl out, though. As soon as you stand up, you feel a couple objects fall on top of your head and onto the ground. You pick them up and, to your delight, find that they are some Elemental Gems! You pocket them and carry on. Windswept Meadow - Leaf Pile As you continue to wallow through the tall grass, you come across a small clearing that has a conspicuously circular pile of leaves stacked neatly on top of it. The leaves seem to come from nearby trees—oaks, maples, and other big-leaved trees—but despite the greenness of your surroundings, these leaves seem to be from the opposite season, as the majority of them are in bright autumn colours: red, orange, and slightly mottled browns. You flash back to your childhood memories, jumping into raked piles of leaves for mindless fun, and decide that trying that now might not be a bad idea after all. However, the way and pattern in which the leaves are arranged are somewhat offsetting to you... a) Hop in the leaves! b) Stay away and carry on

Windswept Meadow - Leaf Pile You stay away from the pile and carry on. Nothing special, really. You do find two Power Herbs hidden among the leaves, though. Windswept Meadow - Rustling Grass As you venture deeper into the meadow, you notice that the grasses become more and more unkempt, as if no gardener has wishes to enter this area. This is somewhat disconcerting, especially as the hue of the grasses turn from fresh greens to that of yellows and darker greens, like that of a savannah. As if to exacerbate your discomfort, you realise that some of the grasses tend to rustle about in contrasting motions to the wind, giving the impression that there are things hidden in there. You eventually reach an area of this grass where you see two patches of rustling grass—one to your left and one to your right. The one of the left seems to rustle with greater frequency but with smaller magnitude, but you never know... a) Enter the left patch of rustling grass b) Enter the right patch of rustling grass c) Wait and see if anything happens

You cautiously enter the right patch of grass, not knowing what to expect. Suddenly, the rustling around you increases in volume, seemingly getting closer as you step further into the patch; this doesn't seem to be a good omen. Before you get to ponder the implications of this rustling, two small creatures - you realise that they are Snivy - suddenly pop out from the brush and attack you, eager to test their battling prowess. As you prepare to send out your Pokemon, another two rush out and glare at you menacingly, while surreptitiously pushing the Snivy back into the grasses. It seems that these Servine will protect their younger siblings quite fiercely.

GALLADIATOR Windswept Meadow - Rustling Grass You forgot about Mirror Coat...Well, if anything, that proves to be a decisive factor, as the Servine reflected Jean's assault back on her, killing her, before slaughtering Roman in a storm of leaves! This forces you to black out, forcing you to leave the meadow towards a Pokemon Centre...You also randomly lose the flower you got in the process...
