Cofagrigus remains #1, although it is getting significantly popular in UU so it will most likely become UU in 2 months time. Metang has dropped to #67...Molk do something. Zangoose is climbing up the ranks as expected, and how Whimsicott and Electivire have more usage than Escavalier and Spiritomb is mind-boggling. In my opinion, this just shows what a simulator of such high caliber as Pokemon Showdown! can do. I surely hope this continues in the future. Also, Crawdaunt and Absol are rightfully rising up the ranks. Also, Munchlax is still holding on at #48...please stop using it. The same goes for Dusknoir. In conclusion, the reign of Pokemon Showdown! has begun! In my opinion, it has truly influenced RU in a positive way, Whimsicott soaring up the usage stats faster than one can say, "LOL WHIMSICOTT NOOB HAHAHAH!" But I digress. Anyway, discuss :)

I'm going to say something here.

Whimsicott is actually a very good Pokemon, and the fact it makes it to Top 30 of RU shows it. While SubSeed isn't quite the set it could be, it can still be a mess to deal with against balanced and offensive teams.

It's one of my favorite Gen V Pokes in general, so there's some slight bias to my usage of it. However, it holds much more merit into a teamslot than Sandslash, at the very least.

Escavalier's a terrific Pokemon.

While I'm quite worried people underestimate its potential in the RU tier at times, I also can use Esca against said people. And win, as I have a team dedicated to laughing at people with him and Gallade.

This Pokemon, while it may be meritable to completelegitimacy, is incredibly difficult to take seriously, mostly because many people I come off against wind up leaving their Ferroseed at inconvenient times.

With the increasing amount of Fire and Fighting-type Pokemon and techniques in the tier, and the frequency of some set-up sweepers such as Gallade, any value Ferroseed might have had in RU has long since diminished.

Also, Bastiodon and Probopass do hazards better and are each easier to put into a team. Deadly serious about that.

The less people use these Pokemon specifically, the better. Magneton might be okay as an Escavalier check, but Steelix does that job much better. Unless there's an influx of Bastiodons, Probopasses, and other viable Steel-types coming into RU within the next two months, Magneton seems more like a liability.

Munchlax and Rhydon just aren't standing up to the threats in RU. Arguably, Rhydon just suffers from being high-risk high reward, but it is just something incredibly out of place and not viable at all. :I

Honestly, I find RU's stats a mixed bag. Bar Sandlash's persistence in the top 10, RU is slowly molding to be balanced for once soon as it gets rid of Nidoqueen and makes sure to keep Metang out of the stat radar forever.

That said, I'm still keeping my eye on RU. BW2's only just begun, and some Pokemon are still being analyzed who aren't even on the radar (Shadow Tag Gothitelle, the NU Pokes who are often found in RU Research Groups, etc.).

I am really confused why Ferroseed is even being used at all, it really is useless in the current meta. All fighting types destroy it, Entei, Archeops got Heatwave, Escavalier can setup on it, Evire flamethrowers and the list continues. The only thing it walls is Feraligatr and Crawdaunt which Tangrowth does just a good job walling as well as fighting types which ferro cannot.

Sandslash does not deserve to be above 30 and really has no place sitting 7 while there so many better spinners (Being cryogonal and kabutops) it just shows how many new players there must be or people still believe it is actually good.

The most satisfying stat for me personally is rise of Evire to 29th because no matter how much people rip on this guy I still feel he holds a unique niche in the current meta. 95 Speed isn't terrible and access to so many coverage moves plus motor charge he can be really strong late game. I love Evire and all the hate is unneeded because he really does stand as a threat to a lot of walls in RU, his only problem is he can't OHKO Tangrowth, Steelix, Whimsicott, Etc but like I said he is better for late game.

The thing about Whimsicott is that it's so predictable it's not even funny. Its offensive presence essentially equates to zero, meaning it has a harder time with opposing Grass-types (especially Roselia and Amoonguss, as they have super effective STAB to use against it) Also, I believe Sap Sipper gives an Attack boost when the user switches in on Leech Seed? If so, then Bouffalant is a great counter.

You're using SubSeed. That's your first problem, if only because of actual Sap Sippers being in RU. SubSeed Whimsicott is terrific in Ubers, and possibly OU, but other than that it's actually mediocre. Unless its Ubers analysis is remodeled, Whimsicott is still the best annoyer in the game.

The second problem is that you're not using Giga Drain or Hurricane, both palpably good moves that make Whimsi not Taunt bait to other Whimsi.

So no, Whimsicott is not for noobs. Just the exact opposite - it takes skill to use Whimsicott effectively.

2HKOs are still good, even if it's Electivire. Are there better Pokemon than Electivire? Certainly. I could argue all day that Dusknoir laughs at it, but I doubt anyone will stay awhile and listen.

Whimsicott just hasn't really struck out to me as good - there seem to be other Grass-types that can screw it over and a certain Afrobull also says hi. But yeah, SubSeed is a terrible strategy - Whimsicott is better at other things like blajaran's set. I don't really think its that great, but it isn't complete garbage and a waseful noob Pokemon.

Electivire IMO isn't really that bad. There are times when I just literally have nothing that can deal with Electivire because its coverage ensure a lot of my team is going to get hit hard by it before I can get a decent opportunity to do something, especially when I run offensive teams and I use Slowking as my main wall. Its faster than Nidoqueen and actually isn't that much weaker - it just dies a lot faster, but it also has mixed coverage. It really isn't all that bad IMO, and while it isn't super strong, it has good coverage. It is a bit too high in stats, but I think it deserves to be in RU.

I will verify this and say that Leech Seed, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, and Spore all activate Sap Sipper, and thus give Bouffalant +1 in attack. In addition, considering that Bouffalant very frequently uses a Choice Band, it can easily annihilate Whimsicott with either Head Charge or Megahorn. Bouffalant is generally the best of the Sap Sipper abusers but there are others, such as Sawsbuck, which are not used as much.
