Introduction
Hello, I'm Prevent others may know me as IchooseU. I recently just started getting back into competitive battling and to do that I need to make a update date team for the current metagame. With help from Princess Bri and Bluewooper from rmt irc, I made team based around a special Landorus. I've had good success so far with this team, highest peak #12 on ladder on PS, and look to get help here to improve it. At a Glance ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THE TEAM ![]() Uranus (Landorus) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Sheer Force EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature - Substitute - Focus Blast - Hidden Power [Ice] - Earth Power The star of this team, such a good anti metagame set and scary force while behind a substitute. Landorous can force a lot switches with its high speed and power finding many opportunities to find a substitute. Once it behind a sub it can proceed to take out counters and either sweep or allow team mate to do so mid-late game. The EV spread allows me to max Speed to let Landorus tie with opposing Thundurus-T and other Landorus, while out speeding Salamence, Jirachi, and Volcarona. Calcs of Landorus damage Earth Power vs 252 HP/168 SpDef Ferrothorn: 49.72% - 58.24% 2-3 hits to KO (with Leftovers) 4 HP/0 SpDef Tyranitar: 89.47% - 105.26% Guaranteed OHKO 252 HP/252 SpDef Tyranitar (+SpDef) : 54.95% - 64.6% 2 hits to KO (with Leftovers) 252 HP/252 SpDef Jirachi (+SpDef) : 81.68% - 96.53% 18.75% chance to OHKO 252 HP/4 SpDef Vaporeon: 51.29% - 60.34% 2 hits to KO (with Leftovers) Focus Blast vs 252 HP/252 SpDef Tyranitar: 106.93% - 125.74% Guaranteed OHKO 252 HP/4 SpDef Skarmory: 80.84% - 95.21% 56.25% chance to OHKO 252 HP/4 SpDef Blissey: 43.7% - 51.54% 2-3 hits to KO (with Leftovers) 252 HP/252 SpDef Balloon Heatran (+SpDef) : 73.06% - 86.01% 2 hits to KO Hidden Power [Ice] vs 252 HP/0 SpDef Gliscor: 132.2% - 154.8% Guaranteed OHKO 4 HP/0 SpDef Landorus: 137.5% - 162.5% Guaranteed OHKO 4 HP/0 SpDef Salamence: 132.53% - 156.63% Guaranteed OHKO 4 HP/0 SpDef Dragonite: 112.35% - 132.1% Guaranteed OHKO ---Multiscale Active: 56.17% - 66.05% 2 hits to KO (with Leftovers) 4 HP/0 SpDef Tornadus-T: 66.67% - 78.67% 31.25% chance to OHKO 4 HP/0 SpDef Thundurus-T: 73.33% - 86.67% 87.5% chance to OHKO ![]() Hades (Tyranitar) (M) @ Chople Berry Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 252 HP / 76 Atk / 180 SDef Careful Nature - Stealth Rock - Crunch - Pursuit - Stone Edge Maybe one of the best Tyranitar sets to currently run, Chople Berry to take good advantages of its options. As you can see my Stealth Rocker, but does much more as it spread allowing me trap threats such as Latios to not be 2 KO'ed by even Specs Latios Surf. Pursuit allows me to trap Latios and Gengar and to guarantee a kill thanks to the Ev's in Special defence and chople berry for Gengar's Focus Blast. Stone Edge allows OHKO's on threats like Thundurus and Volcarona. And Crunch for STAB. Could run superpower > crunch. ![]() Poseidon (Slowbro) (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Regenerator EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold Nature - Scald - Ice Beam - Toxic - Psychic Slowbro has incredible bulk combined with it's new ability regenerator it allows to almost every current physical attacker in the metagame. Pyschic and Scald provide Slowbro STABs, With Scald 30% burn chance and Psychic letting me hit fighting types harder. I decide to run Toxic > Slack Off, as I find with Regenerator and it's amazing synergy with Amoonguss who as well run's Regenerator that I found myself never really low in health. Ice Beam allows me to deal with Dragonite better, and Toxic to deal with bulkier opponents. ![]() Athena (Amoonguss) (F) @ Black Sludge Trait: Regenerator EVs: 252 HP / 28 SAtk / 228 SDef Calm Nature - Spore - Stun Spore - Hidden Power [Ice] - Giga Drain Princess Bri suggested this set for me to use and at first I was optimistic about using Amoonguss but I don't regret it now. It serves excellent synergy with Slowbro (Regenerator). Well it has one the best moves Spore which technically means something on the opponent team is crippled. It's typing provides nice resistances and allowing me to remove toxic spikes from the area. Stun spore is excellent to surprise offensive switch-ins with paralysis, after I hit spore on them. Hidden Power [Ice] allows me hit Dragon and Flying types. Also Amoonguss runs as a excellent counter to Breloom. ![]() Hermes (Genesect) @ Choice Scarf Trait: Download EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Naive Nature - U-turn - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Flamethrower I usually send this out as my lead, makes as a excellent scout or can lock a kill early game. His moveset allows maximum coverage to hit almost everything for neutral damage, Genesect also makes as a good late game sweeper. U turn allows me to scout and rest of the moves are pretty self-explanatory... ![]() Ares (Stoutland) (F) @ Choice Band Trait: Sand Rush EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spd Adamant Nature - Frustration - Wild Charge - Fire Fang - Superpower Amazing late game sweeper behind sand with it's Choice Band. Instead running max speed I put 44 in HP for some bulk while still maintaining 492 Atk. CB Frustration allows many OHKO's on pokemon's without resist especially after SR damage! Stoutland as become one of my favourite late game sweepers and amazing revenge killer. Could consider running 252 Spd to obtain 518 speed in the sand. Conclusion So this is probably one of my most successful team I've made currently. Shows that you don't need to run team full of op ou pokemon and can be successful in the ou ladder using NU and UU pokemon. I'm not retiring this team but looking to come here for your advice on how to make this team better. I will attach a importable and hope you all enjoy the team. Importable Please keep nicknames

Hi-- it was fun helping you out on irc and the end result turned out to be a pretty solid team. In my opinion the team is pretty much set in stone, but you may try out a different move instead of Pursuit on Stoutland like Superpower since Tyranitar has it and Terrakion seems annoying. Other than that I really like the finished product. Cool team! Luvdisc.

Hi,
This looks like a really solid team. I can't pinpoint a single overriding threat- just a small weakness to Sun Volcorona. If Sand isn't up when it comes in, it can sweep your whole team- and it can set up on Landorus and Genesect locked into Ice Beam. At +2, your whole team is outsped and OHKO'ed by Fiery Dance or Bug Buzz, in Sand and not. The trick to it is to keep sand up- and since Volcorona frequently runs with a Dugtrio, being able to escape with Tyranitar and reset Sand as often as possible will be a Godsend. That's why I suggest you test out Shed Shell instead of Chople Berry- that way you can escape trappers. Your team has no end of fighting resist- Amoonguss and Slowbro especially, so you should have no problems there. Since you lack phazers, pokemon that set up too much could be a problem- so I suggest you try Clear Smog over HP Ice on Amoonguss. Clear Smog lets you counter even SDLoom, and a horde of other Grass types and even the occasional Dragon. Using Ice Fang instead of Pursuit is probably a good idea. You're already got a strong trapper- and the extra coverage Ice Fang gives you will definitely be useful. Being choice locked into Pursuit is never a situation any pokemon other than Scizor or Tyranitar want to be in. Really solid team. Nice job! |

Hey broh! Nice team, i cannot see serious weaknesses or major threats to this team, your synergy is working very nice and your offense/defense distribution is also great.
But...your team is based on abuse sand with Stoutland to sweep (it is your main sweeper i think), also using sand force with landorus. Dugtrio can trap easily Tyranitar to finish your sand and then just go for the rai, the sun, or the hail, ruining your main technique. I'll suggest to use Shed Shell > Chopple Berry on Tyranitar, so he will be able to survive to dugtrio's attempt to kill him. Nothing else by now, again, nice team! Good luck! ~LilOu EDIT: LOL I didn't notice that Electrolyte made this suggestion before, anyways, try it out!

Thanks for both the rates and yes I know Volcorona could be a threat and keep sand is crucial. I usually do a good job at it but I think Shed Shell would give me extra safety of keeping sand.

Hey dude, awesome avatar and awesome team! I could not find many problems other than the fact that you nicknamed your Slowbro "Poseidon" instead of "Broseidon". Nice work! =P

Very nice team you have here, agree with Princess Bri that its set in stone, at least most of it. Tornadus-T seems a mayor problem as i see it, considering it can gain momentum, hit the mayority of your team hard, and TTar gets demolished by Superpower (yeah i know bout the Chople Berry, but after seeing no lefties, a smart player wouldnt leave such a big threat to your team in, or thats just me). I would reccomend you switching Stone Edge for Thunder Wave for this matter, since a paralyzed Tornadus is dead weight (in the case youre switching Chople for Shed Shell, then ignore it).
Hope i helped :], either way really nice team man (OOOH HOOOOO SANDˇˇˇ)

Your Stoutlands needs 224 Speed EVs if you want to outspeed + Speed Sandslash in the sand. It's only 12 more EVs, and I'm sure you'll want the extra speed rather than the bulk if you see one.
In addition, I would replace Ice Beam with Flash Cannon on your Genesect. You don't lose much (other than hit other Landorus) and you get a reliable check against non Scarf Terrakion and Kyurem.

I never ran into a sandslash yet, and I'm willing keep the bulk instead the speed to beat the once in blue moon sandslash that can't even sweep. And imo ice beam > flash cannon, but i have had some trouble taking out terrakion sometimes and flash cannon would make it a lot easier.

Hey, nice team you have there, but one of your biggest problems seems to be Scizor, which can come in on Tyranitar, Amoonguss and Genesect locked into the worng move, as well as Slowbro when you killed something or your opponent predicts the Slack Off. Both of your resistances to Bug can't switch in realibly due to their lack of bulk and recoverie. Scizor is also able to revenge kill both of your sweepers relativly easy as they're pretty frail.
Changing a Pokemon or something would ruin te whole Synergie, so I would recommend using Fire Punch on your Tyranitar as well as 40 Speed-EVs to outspeed standard CB-Scizor. This way you can kill Scizor with some prior damage when it switches in your Tyranitar. |

Great team you have man, I've been using it a lot and have won 2 ou tourneys with it on PO. A few minor things I changed though, I put Clear Smog in place of Stun Spore. This allows you to completely screw set up sweepers since you don't have a phazer. You can clear smog while they try to set up and then either spore or death fodder and revenge kill with stoutland or genesect. Also I changed Leftovers to Choice Specs on Slowbro. Mainly to get the 2HKO on CM Keldeo which can be a problem if Amoonguss is down. Finally Superpower over Pursuit on Stoutland. You need super power to kill the blobs.
