Welcome to the Monthly Art Contest's 23rd poll! This time we are judging entries for Surrealism, entries of course being drawn from the Monthly Art Contest thread!

MAC #23 - Surrealism
Use Pokemon in a way that would break the regular norm. Use the element of surprise. Be imaginary.

Surrealism, a 20th Century avant-garde art (and literature) movement, was pretty rad. It historically involved a lot of dream-like imagery, commonly utilizing some type of juxtaposition in its images or themes. This movement sought to explore the creative potential of the human unconscious, which is part of the reason for its use of irrational, sometimes-frightening imagery.


Our artists weren't working with the above definition, but rather their own interpretations of Surrealism. Here are their entries, in order of submission!

If the artists had anything to say about their piece, I've included it below their work.

I like Sæglópur's MAC entries. :) They're creative. The fact that this particular image uses Munna to play with the idea of dreams makes it even better!

Hrrmmm I think it boils down to either nov's or Magistrum's. However with all the surreal world details, not to mention all the eevees made me pick the latter.

A bit late on this thread conclusion-- sorry about that!

Congratulations to nov and Magistrum for tying for first! I thought both winning images had good takes on surrealism, specifically in their dream-like characteristics. Really cool work all around :)

As for the next MAC-- please stay tuned!
