Pokémon Black 2 Giveaway Contest

Hello Smogonites! As you may have seen on the front page, Smogon is going to be giving out one copy of Pokemon Black 2 and another copy of Pokemon White 2 to celebrate the release of these new games. In order to apply for a shot at winning White 2, like our Smogon Facebook page and comment on the relative post with your username. Simple enough!

If you're aiming for a copy of Pokemon Black 2, then this is the thread you want to post in. Unlike earning a copy of White 2, this giveaway is set up as a contest. What you'll need to do is share your best Pokemon experience in this thread in 100 words or less. This can be a whole spectrum of things; if you want to tell a story about a competitive battle, you're more than welcome to do so. If you desire to share something that happened in-game, with your friends, or at a live Pokemon event, that's acceptable as well. Just share your best story, whether it be funny, emotional, impressive, or whatever you can think of!

There's a few rules you need to be careful of though, so check them out before you post your story.

• Only 100 words per entry. This is pretty self explanatory. We want to hear your experience, not a novel. Keep your thoughts clear and concise.
  
  
• Only one entry per person. If you have a bunch of stories to share, that's awesome! However, just pick your best one to post in this thread. If you can't choose, get a friend to help you pick which one is better.
  
  
• No links to other sites, whether they be on Smogon or elsewhere. Share the experience with your own words, not by referencing them through links. This would give you an unfair advantage; so as a result, these stories will be deleted and not considered for the prize.
  
  
• Only one image allowed per story. If the image is large, put it in hide tags. The text of the story should be written, however. If you use an image to unfairly increase the length of your story's text, then you will be out of the running for Pokemon Black 2.
  
  
• Feel free to comment on other stories, but don't be negative. By all means, say which posts are your favorites! However, it is not acceptable to push down other stories that you don't like. Keep it classy.

That should be about it. Next Sunday the 14th, at 10:00p.m. (GMT -6), this thread will be closed. A panelist of judges (which will be announced in a few days) will choose the best experience from this thread. We will make our decision within twenty four hours, so the winner will be declared on Monday. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask them to me through private message or in this thread.

Ten year old Sir was about to defeat the Wallace of the Hoenn region. No cheap potions for the chivalrous Sir, that was for noobs back in my youth. Packing a level 52 Jolteon and a Sceptile, I knew I could win. Unfortunately, those were the only Pokemon left. Fast forward 12 turns and 3 Full Restores and all i had was my poisoned Jolteon versus Milotic. With only 1 Thunderbolt left, I had to make it count versus Milotic. Just as it is in the competitive RBY metagame, Jolteon managed to crit, marking me the champion of the Elite Four. Victory.

In college, we did an Air Band performance to the Pokemon theme song, which involved lip synching the words. Some of us dressed up as Ash, Misty, and other trainers. Others as Pokemon, and we had live-action battles in front of a cheering crowd of our peers. For my part, I repeatedly threw a stuffed Bulbasaur at a girl dressed as Jigglypuff, but then a Snorlax body slammed me off the stage. We won third.

My best pokemon experience was when me and my lil bro were chaining shinx in dp and after only 2 shinx were defeated my bro started screaming bloody murder "I FOUND A SHINY SHIIIINNNNXXXX" I ran into the room wonder what the hell was going on he told me what happened and I thinking it was BS grabbed it and immediately shat myself to see a lemon yellow shinx on the screen, needless to say, we felt like badasses. PS: It was our first legit shiny pokemon ever

Asterat and his friends were playing pokemon emerald because we were cool kids, in like 3rd grade or whatever. We all had our gameboysout and were trying to push through victory road. My friend robert found a shiny zubat. He didn't realize it and released it because he thought zubat was really annoying and bad. To make his point he released it. Then I get pissed and throw a fit. With the use of the internet I try to hack for a shiny zubat. I crrupt my game and it breaks. A few months later when pokemon isnt cool anymore I am at Robert's house. I find his pokemon emerald game while he is in the bathroom and steal it. XD

I would have to say my best Pokemon experience would have to be the first time I got the game.I was 6 and I lived in Jamaica at the time and my family and I were about to drive to the beach when my mom surprised me and my older brother with the special edition Pikachu gameboy color and a yellow version. Me and my bro played it all the way there and just had a really great time talking about it. Not really a great story but its the first thing I think of when someone says Pokemon.

No matter how hard I tried I could never get past Tucker in Emerald. His Salamence was absurdly powerful. I made a toxic stall Porygon2 (with tips from Serebii). It allowed me to win against Tucker and get my first symbol. I was so excited. It was then I happened upon Serebii (which later led me to Smogon). That Porygon 2 is now a Porygon-Z and a pokemon I will never ever delete (despite its brave nature). Seems corny, but I bonded to it,(and much to my surprise, its competitive value to this day is still taking out those Salamences).

My best Pokemon experience was hunting for a shiny Mudkip. For two whole days i soft reset my old SP time after time after time until finally, the pink swamp monster shone it's glorious gold and pink sparkles. I almost immediately gave my Sapphire version away to my sweet-heart and we've been dating ever since. Pokemon is so much more than just a game. To me, it's been an integral part of my childhood since my first game (Gold version) and I have been in love with the story for better or worse.

I was on my way to Fuschia in LeafGreen, and to avoid the trainers on Route 15, I decided to go through the dreaded tall grass. I saw the most amazing Pokemon I had ever encountered (even to this day), the Ditto:



My life was never the same. Every time a Ditto lays its eyes upon me, or vice versa, I "befriend" it by throwing Pokeballs at it. In fact, I involved my family in this adoration for Ditto, and now we collect lots wonderful and majestic Ditto items, from plushies to cards to pins.

pokemon0078 was alone playing pokemon emerald in around third grade (at that time he had no friends). he destroyed the elite four with a rayquaza. he later said that it was really fucking fun.

I was playing Pokemon Diamond and I beat the trainer right before Diamond and the Dialga battle is right after. I crit Dialga with Infernape's Close Combat and took it down super low and started trying to catch it. It KOed all my Pokemon except my HM slave Bibarel and I was like "well fuck I gotta do all that all over again." Throw one last Ultra Ball, managed to catch Dialga.

Using the Gold/Silver trading glitch to duplicate my lvl 100 Feraligatr while on a road trip with one of my good friends. Elite 4 couldn't handle me :P good memories

Playing Platinum and hatching eggs, accidentally wander into grass and find a Chansey. Been wanting to get a Lucky Egg but I have no Pokemon on me even remotely at its level, so I just chuck a Quick Ball at it and catch it first try. Lo and behold, turns out lucky is a better descriptor than I could have imagined when it turned out to be holding one.

I always tried to culture my cousins. Nothing ever stuck. Until one Thanksgiving I was playing Silver. He basically perched on my shoulder and never left. Before they left I gave him my copy and let him reset it for himself.

Pokemon Silver+Gold had just released in Australia. I took it with me when I went shopping with parents one day. I sat down at a bench blindly next to a kid ... when we both realised we were playing the same game. He even had the same color GBC (aqua)! We were both roughly at the same progress; at the Ruins of Alph. I solved the slide puzzle for him and his eyes grew when he first encountered ‘Unknown’. He was so surprised at the odd pokemon, he ran to his mother and jumped around exclaiming ‘it’s called an Unknown!!!’

I am seven, and a Pokémon Master. Well almost; nobody told me there was KANTO in Gold version!
I excitedly chatter the ear off my little sister Felicity; I rant about how cool my team is; I even have a Gengar (given the name of the girl I liked in first grade, naturally)!

In my excitement I tell her she HAS to play it.

She wakes me next morning, MY Game Boy and MY Gold Version in hand:

“Tendie I just beat Bugsy!”

I remember getting my first Pokemon game: Pokemon Red. I had all the patience in the world back then; I either caught or battled every single wild Pokemon I met. With my Charmander, I couldn’t beat Brock until it was level 20 (I still had to crit), and after beating Misty it was level 30. (again, had to a crit) I had a Charizard by the fourth gym, and at Saffron's gym, Charizard was level 70. By the time I got to the Elite Four, my team was level 70+ and my Charizard was at level 90. Such memories...

A year back was running around in some cave in Platinum when I encountered a Geodude. It was shiny. My first in 7 years. So I was like, "yeah Chimchar's got this". Chimchar's Ember critted Geodude, stopping my heart and reducing it to red. Then it burned Geodude, freezing time as we knew it.

Geodude survived burn damage with 1 HP and I Pokeball'd it. That's a 1 in several hundred million chance right there.

I remember long car trips to the Snowy Mountains (highest mountains in Aus) which was about 7 hours drive from Sydney. I hated the car trips. Seven hours with bags at my feet and two grumpy older sisters on either side of me. I would pass the time with my sisters old purple GBA and the copy of Pokémon Blue we had stolen from our cousins. I picked Squirtle every time and rarely got further than two or three gyms. The best part? Missingno meant I got to start again on the way home. I <3 Squirtle.
