Wow, a best pokemon experience. That's a tough decision. I'd have to say just playing Pokemon Stadium (1 and 2) with my mom, dad, (and sisters when they grew old enough), is my favorite pokemon memory. We still play occasionally now, and it's a nice family bonding experience. Hopefully we'll play again when I come home next.

My best pokemon experience would be being able to entertain so many people with my pokemon videos and also making money from them at the same time. Its just made this game so much better, and just a great overall experience.

Before I got my own Pokemon Crystal game, I was playing my brother's Silver. He wanted me to catch Qwilfish or anything else that he did not have in his Pokedex. I only caught one Pokemon that day and it was the first Pokemon I ever caught. It was Suicune.

Now is my best pokemon experience...well, I've always been competitive in everything. Pokemon is honestly one of those games I can remember playing without having any pressure to actually win by any means necessary but my own perception of skill. No worrying about EVs. No worrying about IVs. Hell, Sassy was just an in-game personality to me which made me think my pokemon wouldn't listen to me anymore. But those times take me back to a time where I felt the freedom of childhood and it's quite nostalgic to think on the comparison of how I've matured.

Last year, I argued in English class with a great friend of mine, known on PO as Zaminator, about who was better at Pokemon. We decided to settle it with a battle during, of all times, AP History class, with half the class curiously watching (no we didn’t get in trouble). Although I lost, because he had better EVs, I gained a new friend who I still chat with online and I felt happy that I personally knew someone who shares my serious love for Pokemon. Remembering this makes me rather sad since I recently moved out of that town.

My most memorable Pokemon experience was about 3 years ago.I was eleven years old and I had never seen a shiny pokemon in any of my 3rd gen games. So I decided I would reset for a shiny Mudkip in pokemon Ruby. About 100 SR's in I found a shiny poochyena, laughed and kept going. About 50 resets later i found another and started to get angry. This happened to me 4 more times before i just gave up. I may have horrible luck, but i keep coming back for more

I was eight and on my first playthrough ever of Sapphire. I was stuck on Steven, but was determined not to re-do the E4. I had only one Pokemon I'd raised adequately, a Pelipper named Pelipee. Since I'd used him for the entire E4 he was lacking most of his PP, and without PP restorers I was in a bind. After my second defeat I had an idea - I hadn't yet taught him Surf, so I had him learn it. It was a close call, but in the next battle with Steven I surfed my way to victory.

Well when I was around 8 or so, I was playing through Pokemon Red and I had finally acquired my Masterball. I was just strollin' through Seafoam Cave trying to bag myself an Articuno, and I found a Dewgong. For some reason, at that point in time, my brain thought, "Dewgong is rare. Dewgong is powerful. Must have Dewgong. Dewgong > Everything" (Don't question me, I was 8), so I VOLUNTARILY parted with my Masterball (when I had like... 20 Ultra Balls) and caught it.
My friend said that I was bragging about it for quite a while too... Last edited by Silenced Melody; Oct 13th, 2012 at 11:14:53 PM. |

It all started on HeartGold. I was in the Burned Tower when I encountered a Level 13 Magmar. I thought it was some rare, legendary Pokémon, so I eagerly caught it and named it Maggy. I completely abandoned my team and only used her. From that point on, she was my best friend, my first level one hundred, and my number one battler. I did everything with her. Somewhere along the way, I made a mistake. I deleted my save file on accident. Her death was my fault. I’m so, so sorry Maggy. You were my best friend.

There have been many times since I entered the fandom in 1998 where Pokemon had influenced my life and thinking, from taking that first trip to buy Blue at a major mall at my first job, to becoming an artist, wanting to learn to read Japanese. But I have to give it to that first time I introduced the Pokemon games/anime to my young nephew and nieces in an attempt to teach them how to read and develop a love for learning. I'd say it worked, though we're all still working on our respecting "reading" goals.

The response that the community has had to this thread is awesome! I love reading these stories, and I know others have too. I am just popping in to remind everyone that this contest has less that 24 hours remaining. Make sure to get those stories written up and perfected. The judges and I will be sweeping in tomorrow at 10p.m. GMT -6 to close the thread and begin selecting a winner. Oh, I should probably mention who exactly is on the panel. Let's begin!
Zracknel will be joining us; he is well known for his vector artwork that can be seen all over Smogon (learn more here). Next up is Jellicent, who is a hot and upcoming member on Smogon who does things like lead Ruins of Alph and the Grammar Prose team. The infamous Oglemi will also be taking part in the judging process; he's best known for leading Smogon's RarelyUsed tier and spearheading the Contributions & Corrections project. Continuing onwards, Zebraiken has offered to lend a hand. He's the active leader of our NeverUsed tier and has a solid presence in a variety of other forums. Also joining us is the lovely Solace, who has some solid experience in leading VGC here on Smogon and as a battle simulator moderator. And to wrap it all up, I (Birkal) will be our final judge (I help lead CAP and OU and stuff whooooo). So that's our judging staff for the contest! We'll be meeting up tomorrow when this contest is over to determine our winner. Make sure your submission is ready for the deadline tomorrow. Best of luck to all of you =) Last edited by Birkal; Oct 14th, 2012 at 2:18:05 AM. |

My best experience has to be the time I taught this kid at school about ev-training and type coverage when I saw he was struggling to defeat the battle subway. A couple months later, my school hosted a Pokemon tournament. I breezed through the tournament until the final round. My opponent was my former student (poetic justice). Soon, we were both down to our last Pokemon. I had alakazam and he had tyranitar. Luckily, focus blast hit, so I was victorious. It would have been more dramatic if I had lost, but still this is a great story.

This is weird, but my best experience was playing on Amazing Ampharos's modded NetBattle server in 2005-2007. It was the first large-scale mod server and also the most successful. It was a totally fresh experience with all the new moves and abilities for Pokemon, and dozens of Pokemon became viable because of AA's dedication to balance. There's was some great quirky stuff like Sacred Fire Togetic and my signature Hax Delibird. We had a great community for years, and I share the opinion with several others that gen 3 mod was the best metagame in Pokemon history.

It was when I was about 5 years old and my brother, who was 13 years old, and I were playing our Gameboys while waiting for dinner. My brother got tired of playing games so he gave me his Gameboy and the game he was playing, Pokemon Yellow. He left me at the champion, Gary, with only his Zapdos that only had Drill Peck left at full PP. It took me about 5 tries, but I finally defeated Gary with a Zapdos that only knew Drill Peck. And that's the story how I got into Pokemon.

I was living in a friend's office for a couple months prior to leaving the state for college. All my stuff was kept in public storage. I had an urge to play Pokemon for the first time in ages; turned my public storage locker upside-down looking for my game, in which I spent 500+ hours breeding Pokemon with good IVs. I couldn't find the cartridge anywhere. I never found it. All those pokemon and all those hours of breeding were gone.
The next day, after my friend gifted me his spare game, I found out about the existence of RNGing.

One of the neighbor kids who had just moved in stole my Silver version, so I beat the shit out of him with a plastic shovel. They moved.

My favorite Pokemon adventure is all of them. I loved the games so much I read Pokemon Special. I've been playing Pokemon since I was 4. Now I'm 17. I remember first playing my cousin's Red Version and when I got first Pokemon game (Silver Version). I live in Atlanta, Ga and Pokemon has died down in my area, but I keep it alive. Hopefully, next year I can go to the VGC 13 and meet more Pokemaniac's. I just wanna be a Pokmon Master.

I was on a road trip, and I played Platinum to pass the time to catch Palkia. On my second try, without even trying, I encounter it. The SHINY PALKIA. I send out my Empoleon which knew Slash and Ice Beam. I lowered Palkia’s health and I knew how much damage both attacks did. However, to play it safe, if I got a crit with Ice Beam, I would have killed the Shiny Palkia. So, instead, I used Slash and BAM it was a critical hit. I thanked myself so much for that amazing move and I caught the Palkia.

My best pokemon experience would have to be the first time I found out my girlfriend plays pokemon. She came over one day and we couldn’t decide which game to play until she found my Pokemon Battle Revolution on Wii. We loaded it up and I instantly gave her my best team while I chose the worst team. She didn’t know anything about EVs or predictions, so I destroyed her, but I didn’t care that I won, I was just happy I found an attractive member of the opposite sex who is as much of a nerd as I am.
Ps: I love you, Sarah :)

My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Diamond. I found an old rod and I went
fishing. I found a Magikarp that was a higher level than my Chimchar and thought "Wow, this must be strong!" I caught it and decided to use it against the first gym. I sent out Magikarp and used the move splash and it did nothing, and I was like WTH? Roark killed my Magikarp and my Chimchar with his Geodude and I was sent to the Pokecenter...and that's how I lost my first gym battle. That’s my best Pokemon experience ever, a learning experience. |

If I have to choose the best experience, I'd have to go with Pokemon Yellow: Best Pokemon game of all time. I loved yellow because you get Pikachu, as well as all of the Starter Pokemon. There's a few glitches in the game, but no harm done, it just gives good pokemon, like Level 100 Nidokings, Level 100 Mews, etc. I love how it gives that feel like how it is in the anime. You get to battle Jessie and James, which is great, plus you battle Gary, but however, he has an Eevee. Pokemon Yellow, Best Experience ever.

Back in '04, my brother and I went to a trip to Hawaii. First of all, during this time, Fire Red and Leaf Green had come out in Japan, and being in Hawaii, we tried to see if we could get it, but to no avail. Otherwise, My brother was one of the first people to test out the full extent of the Mew glitch in Red and Blue version, and some of the things we encountered were absolutely hilarious. Misty with a Growlithe anyone? Agatha with lv 255 pikachus and seels? Documenting this glitch was my best pokemon experience.
