I started a new game of my emerald and just finished that long process of finally being able to go chase after May from my hometown in Littleroot town. As i started to go up to route 101, I came across a shiny zigzagoon. I was so excited because it was my first shiny pokemon I found in the game, the problem was I had not received any pokeballs to capture it with. I got so angry that I stop playing Emerald and went to go play pokemon Fire red instead. Charizard all the way.

My best experience with the Pokemon series had to be beating the Gym Leader Elesa in B/W. With a Dewott, beating her seemed out of my reach until one day my Dewott evolved in the middle of a battle with her into Samurott, the Formidable Pokemon. I proceeded to blaze through her team. Pokemon White was my first game in the series, and Oshawott was my first 'mon, so I was pretty excited.
EDIT: Sorry, mis-type. I meant to say it got to the correct level during battle, I lost, then pwned. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Can Pokemon evolve mid battle? I didn't think so.

Our personalities get defined at our happiest moments. Can I say that about that far, distant morning my father came back from the USA and gifted me Pokemon Blue? All I know is I love blue, I love Dragons ever since I was fishing for Dratinis at the Safari park because my gambling skills suck, why I tried to study robotics (Porygon) or why I think of myself as special for freezing a Missingno glitch, lvl 212 Snorlax with my Articuno and continue to ice beam it to death during my first public battle at school ^_^

I was playing my Pokemon Platinum version, trying to get a good Dialga. I knew what natures were, and I also knew about stat variations (the concept of IVs). I was getting fed up of getting a bad nature, so I popped in my Action Replay DS and turned on ONLY the "100% Catch Rate" cheat. After about 7 resets, there it was: a SHINY Dialga! I was so excited, since I had only found 2 shinies before! I caught it, and it was Modest, just the nature I was looking for. I later found out that it also had a 30 SpAtk IV.

I haven't owned pokemon long i bought pokemon White in March 2011 and have been playing since; its been great playing battling with my pokemon and training them to become strong. although I only got one pokemon to lvl.100: Gallade! the rest I gened up using pokegen. I remember when i brought my pokemon game with me to NYC and we were roaming around looking for a hotel, or a motel at 2 am and were pretty much hopeless; I literally got no sleep that night as I was restless to explore NYC the next day. so i played Pokemon all night in the motel! it was the best time i ever had especially after I finally got Zorua ingame! I LOVE Pokemon!

First time ever owning a "true" Pokemon game was Pokemon Platinum and my boyfriend gave it to me! <3 Anyways, my best experience ever was my first time EVER breeding for nature and EV Training. And my first Pokemon ever EV trained was Milotic, my favorite water Pokemon of all time! I felt so proud and so happy about my first ever EV trained Pokemon. Lucario soon followed and even though I look back and see that they're actually pretty bad, I still feel the same nostalgic feeling of achievement...

My best experience was the in-game Arceus event on Pokémon Soul Silver. The Sinjoh Ruins backstory was really interesting as well as the first use of real life images in a Pokémon game. Then, after learning how to RNG, coming back on my Heart Gold game and re-doing the event and RNG'ing a Level 1 Event Palkia.

One fateful Halloween night... My friend taught me how to clone Pokemon. My 12 year-old brain couldn't process all that... Power! Curiously, I attemptd to clone my amazing, level 100 Swampert. However - excitement made me miss a step, and... POOF! He was gone! Needless to say, there were many tears that night, but eventually my friend gave me his most valuable, shiny Blaziken, and has been forgiven. :)

My brother had Blue, my sister had Red. I wanted my own Pokemon game but couldn't decide which version. Problem solved - Yellow was announced. Couldn't wait for Christmas.
Christmas Eve, Mom came home from her traditional last-minute shopping. She was upfront with me - all the stores were sold out. I was disappointed but understanding. This was the first Christmas after Dad's death; she didn't need me whining about a video game. On December 26th Mom and my sister went bargain hunting. By shear luck they found a copy of Yellow. Best Day-After-Christmas present ever. Last edited by Jug of Voodoo; Oct 9th, 2012 at 9:41:03 AM. |

Our Pokemon League was rather peaceful, consisting of mostly little children who enjoyed playing the TCG with decks full of favourite pokemon. We all gathered at a Toys R Us to play some TCG, trade some newly released G/S pokemon, . However, there were these annoying twins that continually harassed everyone, steamrolling kids who played less than ideal decks. Being the only other player with a pretty good handle on the TCG, I challenged and promptly stomped them. The twins never returned, and people were free again to use what they pleased without worrying about playing only the best cards.
the op didn't say anything about strictly video game only, so i figured i'd share a TCG moment. the rest of these felt good to read, too ! |

My best Pokémon experience was when I first got Pokémon: Leaf Green Version. It was my first ever Pokémon game and I attained it when I was in the fifth grade. I was so excited all day long, waiting out the few hours of torture before I could get home and play it. The moment of truth finally arrived and I turned it on. I chose Bulbasaur because he was my favorite Pokémon and I named him Apple. This was the start of my epic journey.

My best experience was when I battled my brother and was getting whipped, but then somehow my mienshao (my last pokemon) took out four of his so that he had one left. It was a simisear and it used actobatics to OHKO me. Yes, I lost, but it was just so funny that it really was my best experience.

Smogon has revolutionized Pokemon for me with their RNG manipulation research, and their generosity in sharing this knowledge with the public. Even with my huge collection of competitive Pokemon, I'm always seeking a more challenging project. I do abide by one rule: never use roms/hacks to obtain projects.
My best experience in Pokemon was the successful result of a painful month-long ordeal capturing a shiny jolly pentaflawless Metang in SoulSilver's Safari Zone. With a catch rate of 3, fleeing, and inability to inflict damage, I was retail abusing the same seed infinitely to succeed at this impossible project.

The moment when I learned other people still love this game and appreciate its competitiveness. Pure Blissey.

My best experience is probably an emotional one for me. Twas the year of the release of the Limited Edition Pikachu GBC w/ Yellow version. Growing up, my family didn't have very much money and it was Christmas morning. Everyone had their presents to open, except for me. I figured that I probably wouldn't be getting anything that year. I was Ok with that because I knew our situation. My mom reached behind the tree saying, "OH! WHAT'S THIS?!" Words cannot explain the smile on my face when I unwrapped that Blue and Yellow Game Boy box.

My best experience was during Gen 2. I had just gotten my copy of Silver back from a friend. I load it up and find that I have 2 Celebi in my party. Deciding to continue were I left off I go hunting for Lugia. When I finally find him, I nearly drop the gameboy in shock. It was SHINY!! on the first try. After spamming balls at it I finally catch it with a random lure ball.

Honestly, it must have been when I was in school. Some of my classmates had seen me play Blue version on my Gameboy, and I convinced a lot of them to buy the Silver/Gold versions so we could play. When we all got our 'mons to level 100, I remember having a Blissey that pretty much stomped everyone's shit with a combination of Hypnosis, Softboiled, Dream Eater and Thunderbolt. Obviously, noone had heard of "Sleep Clause" nor anything like that, and since they sent their strongest 'mons against my Blissey (their starters), most of my classmates couldn't KO it. It was a cheap strategy, and it did work until we agreed to ban sleep moves from our battles (it stopped being fun after a while imo), but man did it feel great.

I was playing Pokemon Crystal and I started off with the male protagonist and one day, after pausing mid-Surf, I turn the game back on and I am the female protagonist. I literally had a sex change mid-game.

It'd be hard for me to pick one adventure because I've done them all. I was constantly defeating Oak's Grandson. I reached Mt. Silver and defeated Red. I took down all of Hoenn's Gym Leaders & Elite Four members who had tricky strategies. I smacked around Palmer. And I beat the crap out of Ghetsis. I have to say experience was training my team in Hoenn. I loved Hoenn. Hoenn was tricky and confusing, yet I love it best. Now all I wanna do is make a new experience in the next game.

I used to stay up way past my bedtime playing Pokemon Yellow with a desk light and a GBC and feel horribly sleep deprived during elementary school, but still feel so satisfied with my decision making :)

Pokemon has given me a lot since I started playing Red version at seven years old, my happiest memories are getting a Charizard card, collecting all the Burger King toys, watching the first movie in theaters, catching a shiny Oddish in Silver, sweeping the Elite four with Pikachu and the three starters in Yellow, watching Ash say good-bye to Butterfree in the show, learning how to EV train and IV manipulate, and becoming a part of Smogon's wifi community with cool people like XElite, WildEep, Muffinhead, Shii, Winter's Zombie, Buckert, lOlpO, Chocolate-kipp, Articuno64, and more.
It felt good to IV breed my own pokemon and Ev train them and be a competent battler. Also felt good to have a Shiny Dragonite. Fuck yeah. I grew away from pokemon, but I don't think I can ever forget it. Everything about it has been amazing. |

Playing Pokemon got me a job.
I am a programmer. In a field where everywhere has a bachelor's or master's degree, I have an associate of arts degree (with a low GPA). My prior work experience is a $10 / hour job at a car / trunk rental company. I have no connections in the industry and only one source of experience to speak of. That experience is writing Technical Machine, a program that plays Pokemon. I now work at a great company and get paid to do something I love.
