My best pokemon experience was when I was training in Snowpoint Temple and right when I was exiting, a shiny sneasel appears! Instantly caught it and leveled it up. Now it's a Lv.100 Weavile.

When I was young, my cousin and I would play Pokemon all the time. He even bought a GBA link so we can trade our pokes around. During the DS age, he quit and I began to decline as well. When my friend brought up the VGCs, I figure that I should give B/W a shot. After playing it though, I rekindled my love of Pokemon and saw it in a whole new light. My more casual friends who've only played up to 3rd Gen scoff at me, but I constantly try to show them what changed me.

I suppose my best experience would have to be when I went with my cousin to a Pokemon Rocks America event for Pokemon XD, way before I ever got into competitive battling. It was my first live event, I got the pass for Navel Rock to finally catch my favorite pokemon, Lugia, entered a small tournament (lost miserably in the first round, dang Crobat killing my Zapdos), and ended up on TV thanks to "Gabby and Ty." (Man, were they creepy...) I spent the rest of the night just trying to catch Lugia...

My favorite story is actually kinda pathetic, I ran around the house (8yrs old) when the guy in the pokemon center said I could get the most powerful pokemon for only 500 pokedollars. When it was magikarp I cried, but my neighbor taught me about gyarados and i trained it to level 100 and started battling ferrealzies ever since!

I saved right before entering Mt. Silver in Crystal. I didn't notice my battery was running low, I was only 9. I reached the top and gasped.
Ash. Ash Ketchum was waiting to battle me. Remember, I was nine at the time. We fought; Blastoise was his last pokemon. Meganium was mine. Suddenly, my battery started dying, the screen flickered, pixels threatening to die out. Desperate, I smashed the A button thinking it would save my battery. The screen started to have clarity! I kept pressing and pressing. I beat him. I saved. And I let the pixels fizzle out. |

I have had many experiences with the Pokémon games throughout the years, my most memorable experience actually comes from one of the side games. In PMD: Explorers of Time, I had just made it to Fogbound Lake for the first time. Leading up to this point, I'd enjoyed it as a game with a story added as a bonus. Upon my arrival at the lake, it suddenly became an experience. The music drew me in, and presented a stunningly beautiful scene. The blue of the lake was incredibly vivid, and the Illumise and Volbeat in flight blew me away. As the hero and partner commented on this display, I found myself agreeing with everything they were saying- the emotions, their opinions on the beauty of the spectacle...
I had never been this immersed in a game before, and have unfortunately never come close to that level of immersion ever again, even replaying the scene. However, I can still say that in spite of it being "for kids," Pokémon is the only game metaseries that has inspired that kind of reaction in me. The game has remained one of my favorites, though, and still gets regular playthroughs! |

The summer before fifth grade, I used to always bring my Gameboy to my friends house when we could play R/S instead of actually playing outside.
One day while looking for secret bases, my friend was browsing around my game for me. All of a sudden, he yells "I found Latios!" I didn't believe him but when he showed me, it started a craze between the three of us to find Lati@s in our games that lasted for a very long (but fun) time. The fact we didn't know how to catch them only made this more fun. |

When I was a wee lad of 6 years old, I saved up all my christmas/birthday money to get a GBC. It came with Pokemon Yellow and the game guide. I was happy. I started that game, named my character my name, and my rival was my brother. I leveled up that Pikachu, and when my team was fully fleshed out, I had a Gengar, Alakazam, Pikachu, Butterfree, Gyarados, and Dugtrio. I beat the Elite Four and my rival, and immediately ran up to my brother in real life and said, "HA I BEAT YOU!"
He was confused and speechless.

I won a UU tournament just with Belly Drum LO Clefable (my first tournament ever) on PO. Down to my last poke (he had all 6) in the final game, belly drummed up, he used Stone Edge, it missed. I proceeded to Fire Punch and Double Edge his team to a dramatic win.

This happened when I was a total Pokemon Noob. Sure, I'd finished Pearl and had a lv100 Infernape, but it's moveset was BlastBurn, Flamethrower, FlameWheel and CloseCombat, lol. So my sister bought a used Pokemon Diamond, and the previous owner had finished the game. He had some really rare pokemon, 3 shinys and a bunch of legendaries. I decided to transfer his cool pokemon to my Pearl before allowing my sis to start a new game, but I completely overlooked the shinys, most of the legendaries and even the rare ones. To this day I am still beating myself up.

My best pokemon experience was:
I had stayed up all night trying to beat Red. Before school I skipped breakfast to try and beat him. I even was playing my DS while going to the bathroom. Finaly CRIT KO I win. Ran out to catch the bus. I forgot to save. My DS DIED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. But my brother had gotten home early and was playing it and saved the game. I will always love him.

I was playing Black, and I had just beat Ghetsis at the end, and during the ending credits, my hand slipped from the Circle Pad to the power button. The dreaded words of the 3DS:
...
That was horrible. My last save was before Shauntal... AAAAAUUUUGH!

Two memories: Playing RBY with my friends at school, and battling every Tuesday. It will always be one of my favourite memories. The other was beating famous Smogoner VIL in the finals of WCoP IV as a heavy underdog and when we were down 4-2, with me and Earthworm yet to play. Everybody remembers the tiebreak from that year but that match is still very dear to my heart. It was huge for me personally, and in conjunction with two doses of Earthworm heroics™, allowed Oceania to win our first of three WCoP tournaments and break Asia's hold of the trophy.

I was going to make an entry for myself, and one for my girlfriend, but I don't see it going well; 2 entries from 1 ip...and I can't think of a good entry anyways, so here goes...
my GF; playing HG as a solo run, using her favourite Pokemon; Lapras. She trounces Gym Leaders all over both regions, then packs a couple HM slaves to make her way up Mt. Silver. Go L81 Pikachu. Bye, L100 Lapras. this continues for 5 attempts in a row, and since it's a solo run; no revives. we were just about to give up hope when I remembered about Wacan berry! Lapras survives the 6th attempt, and proceeds to sweep Red unhindered...after a Full Restore, of course..

I think my favorite best experience with Pokemon was when R/B was released in NA. I was only 8 that time and I remember watching 2 guys who were probably in their teens (12-16) having a battle but yeah after the match I went to talk to the guy who won and asked him a lot of questions like how the game is like, favorite pokemons, team building etc...
After getting to know him and becoming friends as well; he told me that one day we'll have a battle so I just nod my head in a agreement. After that encounter; I didn't meet him again until 2 years later when G/S was released and we see each other and talked about the match in the past and after that he kept his word and battled afterwords. Though I end up getting steamrolled by him but it was a great match because after that match he told me he's done playing pokemon and gave me a shiny lugia as a parting gift which to this day I still have that lugia in my gold cartridge haha. P.S sorry if it's hard to read or understand, I just typed it down as if I was telling someone about it in person. Last edited by xKYSx; Oct 10th, 2012 at 12:14:38 PM. Reason: oh snap just realized it's 100 words or less but it's fine lol I don't feel like fixing it up and making it shorter |

I received a Gameboy and Blue for my ninth birthday. Having never had any games that could save, I borrowed my cousin’s super Gameboy and managed to get to Victory Road, only to have the game freeze. After reading through the guide book, I learned of the"SAVE" function. I started the game back up, and tested it out. This time once I reached around Fushia...my game erased. Finally, my third time through the game, I finally managed to become the champion of Kanto....by which time Yellow Version arrived under my Christmas tree, enticing me to do it all over again....again.

Pokemon had a massive impact on my childhood, but my fondest memory is probably when I was about 6 years old, and I would go with my father to the New Orleans nature center in the bayous. Each time we went, we would walk along the boardwalks and imagine I was a Pokemon trainer, catching Pokemon from Butterfree (really just a butterfly) to Squirtle (a turtle). We would walk for hours with me amassing a team of imaginary Pokemon.
That nature center never recovered from Katrina, but it will always hold a place in my memory as my Route 1. |

My greatest pokemon experience was my first completed nuzlocke run of ruby. I had lost countless times and had spent hours weeping over my lost starters, and all my other lost companions. And then even more hours grinding and training. On my final run i went into the elite 4 with only 5 pokemon, on of which was barely trained and ready, but despite all that, my hard work payed off and i became the champion of the hoenn region.

I remember playing on my LeafGreen catridge late at night with my team of level 73s, trying to catch Mewtwo. With limited Balls on me, I attempted one last time for the night...and ran into a Shiny Mewtwo. Trying my best to not KO it while I tried to catch it, I managed to snag the Mewtwo while it was at half health. With my last Great Ball.

My first Nuzlocke:
I had finished off a Gyarados, Charizard, and three Dragonites, although not without cost- my Dragonair and Magneton were both nearly dead, and Steelix had been annihilated by a rogue Fire Blast. Ponyta had sacrificed herself to heal Feraligatr, who now stood in the ring with nothing but one Aerodactyl between him and the championship. My heart nearly stopped when Caimin was struck with the critical Thunder Fang, but he pulled himself up and, with a single Waterfall, ended Lance once and for all. The sacrifices along the way had not been in vain. I was Champion. |

The second time I played a Pokemon TCG tournament, I decided to run a deck that I hadn't used before that day. It was a five round, single-elimination tournament. It was made harder by the fact that I was put against each of my friends, one at a time. I made it to the final round, and the match lasted an hour and a half. The store itself was within two minutes of closing (and the game would have been declared a draw) when I made the winning play.
It was my first tournament victory. |

Easily my best Pokemon experience was beating Red in Pokemon Heart Gold. He was one tough motherfucker to take down, but I did it with my awesome team.

Back when pokemon anime was launched, the hype it made, the popularity it gained. In the school, while all chanted about the episodes, I merely listened to them, imagining them, and thinking if only I could watch them too (Our street had issues and fights with cable TV operators back then). I always felt left out in those daily "Pokemon Discussion Classes", but then that day came. I was not even aware, my family had planned to gift me a GameBoy Advance Console with none other than POKEMON FIRE RED (In India, anime were launched quite late). My jaw completely dropped when I woke up that day. The feeling of training a Charmander, that awesome moment when you encountered and caught a Pikachu in Viridian Forest, the feeling of winning the first badge (and that too with difficulties), and that tune which followed... My Charmeleon EVOLVED!! Bow down before the trainer of the mighty ZAPDOS!! Hey Man, See my Surfing on my beloved Gyarados!!
No one knew how much I enjoyed when I used to show it to my friends and let them enjoy too. I might be far from anime, but HEY!! I was living that fantasy world itself.. Even though the new generation games have outstanding mechanics and updates, but nevertheless no game, no version whatsoever beats that nostalgic feeling, which I still get, just by looking at its cover only! Love you Fire Red...
