Trying to come up with ideas building off of the religious aspect. Per wikipedia and my religious school education... Seraphim are referenced in Isaiah as fiery six-winged beings that fly around God's throne singing "holy, holy, holy". This throne scene, with its triple invocation of holiness (a formula that came to be known as the trisagion.)
Personally, I think Trisagion is a brilliant name on it's own, but unfortunately, the trisagion is not really what a seraph would have said according to the original Isaiah. That would be the kedushah, which I prefer. So maybe Kedushah or some variant? I do like Glorifly, but I prefer a name that references seraphim's main responsibility with regards to humans. Seraphim purify prophets. Ergo Purifly. Spitballing ideas.

Moguith
Gui is the rough pinyin for "Ghost" in Chinese. (Yes, I know its a physic type, but KoA's art looks sort of like a ghost.)The mo at the beginning and the th at the end are, obviously, moth.

Lepidiance(Lepidoptera, the order of insects for butterflies and moths, and radiance).
Motherian(Moth and Therian, people who form spiritual and psychological connections with animals). Cerastrial(Heterocera, the scientific name of moths and Celestial). |

The most specific designation for moths is "Heterocera," and we need to name a moth that is also based on a seraph. Clearly, the most descriptive name is Heteroceraph, but, due to the 10-letter rule, I propose the short, but effective:
Ceraph |

Gonna throw this one out there
Mirarch Mirage + Arch (as in archangel, or monarch). The -ch in the end is pronounced (see: Garchomp) so it would sound like Mirage~

I have to second Sephirmoth, just because of its speakability, even if it doesn't quite have "seraph" in its name.

Apparishine or Apparishun?
The latter feels like it's a lot easier to read, but I can't figure out how to fix the first.

Divinimoth. Rolls smoothly off the tongue.
From "divine" or "divinity", alluding to the CaP's seraphic concept basis, and "moth", the type of insect it most resembles, in my opinion. Divine has another definition as a verb, however. To divine means to discover or perceive by intuition or insight; conjecture. This ties in to the concept of riskiness that CaP 4 was modeled after and ties in smoothly with its Illusion ability, for obvious reasons. The opponent forced made to divine, out of all possible courses of action, which will yield the optimal result in defeating the angelic arthropod, or suffer the wrath of its god-like statistical capabilities. One downside to this name is that it closely resembles Venomoth, another moth Pokémon, in pronunciation, but sometimes those cases are unavoidable. This is my final submission for CaP 4's possible name slate. Last edited by RavensNation; Oct 21st, 2012 at 10:21:45 AM. |

Scaramoth or Scarmoth
Scarab + Moth. Scarabs are those Ancient Egyptian accessories. They kind of resemble bugs (maybe they actually do) so I thought, why not? Alternatively, Scarapace Scarab + Carapace let me know what you guys think :)

Final Submission:
Hexalae Literally means "six wings". I guess "Hex" could also refer to the Psychic element, so this name seems quite fitting in my opinion. Last edited by DarkBlazeR; Oct 21st, 2012 at 5:22:15 AM. |

I'm not throwing in my own idea because it seems everybody has theirs, so there's more than enough already. I'll just wait for the name poll then.

Seraphimoth doesn't work because it has 11 characters. You can mimic the sound and get within the limit with "Serafimoth", though it looks a little clunky.
Final Submission: Hexcellent Hex + Excel + Excellent From "Hex" for a spell or charm, the number six (as in six wings, the number of legs on a typical insect (taxonomic subphylum Hexapoda), Base 600), "Excel" (which means to surpass or be superior in some area) and "Excellent." Not only does adding the -(vowel)nt suffix incorporate the final word, it is also a comfortable Pokemon ending (exs. Snowrunt, Crawdaunt, Unfezant, Lampent, Durant, Jellicent, Bouffalant.) Most Base 600 Pseudo's incorporate some overarching theme that is expansive or powerful ex: "Meta" Gross, Sala "Mence" (as in immense), "Tyran(i)t" as in tyrant, or king that rules with fear, etc. Garchomp is just garish, ignore it.

Mylena or Omnilena sounds cool to me
Mystic/Omniscient + Falena (The italian name of moth). Maybe Mylena is better 'coz it can remember a girl name (Like Armaldo remember Armando). yes ! Mylena is my Final Submission

Deirath Deity (Dei) + Seraphim (ra) + Moth (th) Etymology: Deirath derives from Deity, which is a god, Seraphim, which is an angelic being, & Moth, which is of course, what this CAP appears to resemble the most. I kinda like this name, liking how simple it is, how easy it can roll off the tongue, & yeah. That is it, I guess... |

Hmm... Now that I think about it, I'll try this instead:
Final Submission: Lassiah Las is the last syllable in Atlas, which relates because the Atlas Moth is the largest species of moth in the world. Siah comes from the last two syllables of messiah, which we all know is a powerful entity, and considering this guy's a 600BST, it's kinda fitting. So there you have it: Lassiah

Other good names I've seen in this thread are Deusect and Hexcellent. These sound like good names for a pokemon this powerful. As for my own ideas? Well, when I look at this design, the first thing that comes to mind is that the wings look like either shields or pieces of armour, so I started thinking of names that incorporated shield or armour, but then suddenly I thought of adamantine armour (blame D&D), and since this pokemon is apparently meant to resemble a moth of some kind, I came up with this name: Adamoth.

we can still change final submissions right?
I thought of another name: Zephirath it's a play on the word Sephiroth. also, if we're dissecting the name, Zephyr means "wind" (I know it's not exactly a flying type) and Wrath gives the name a tone to match its superb attacking stats. still not completely sure whether I should opt for this one or my original final submission. what do you guys think?

Final submission
Echizzect (E-chi-zect) Hechizo stands for Spell(as in the magic kind) in Spanish. Since the H is not pronounced at the beginning of a word, Echizzect sounds like a nice name for this Pokemon in particular, ect being the ending of insect. Echizzoth is also a viable name, but I'll go with Echizzet. Too many Oth's at the moment.

Final Submission
Mothuwroth Moth (For obvious reasons) + (W)roth I chose to double the intention on the sencond half by adding a (W) so that it could be less overtly just an adaptation of the word Sephiroth. Wroth denotes anger and rage, which I think can been seen in KoA's design (look the eyes...and don't blink). I also chose to use the conjoining letter "u" over "i" or "o" because otherwise there would be too much similarity between and Mothim with "i", and 3 o's is a bit too much and it would sound like a Moth o' Wroth. (which someone else is free to submit.) Good luck to all, I'm thoroughly enjoying this process so far! |
