I've been getting really miserable with competitive battling cause I've been losing so much in OU I wanted to know if it was my team that wasn't up to standards or if it's just myself imagining things. Please rate my team. :3
Pokemon: Hydreigon @ Life Orb Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 speed, 252 special attack, 4 HP Nature: Timid - Dark Pulse - Focus Blast - Roost - Dragon Pulse Hydreigon is one of the sweepers, or powerhouses to my team. I chose to give him a Life Orb instead of Choice Specs because I didn't like being locked into one move and having to switch if something resists one of my moves. I use Roost to get some HP recovery from the constant Life Orb drain. Dark Pulse and Dragon Pulse should be obvious for Special STAB. I add Focus Blast in for heavy damage to anything that doesn't resist it and to deal with pesky Steel types that totally wall this dragon. I give Hydreigon a Speed increasing nature so I can out speed some things that can beat him in a race, Hydreigon's speed isn't the very best and he sadly doesn't get Dragon Dance. Pokemon Gliscor @ Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal EVs: 252 HP, 128 speed, 128 defense Nature: Impish - Swords Dance - Earthquake - Roost - Ice Fang I consider Gliscor like a minor wall but at the same time a possible sweeper. I gave him some EVs in defense to give him some bulk along with max HP so he takes a few more hits. I make him tough to kill with Poison Heal and the Toxic Orb to give me some nice recovery. Swords Dance is viable to begin sweeping as it lets me start setting up a +2 in Attack with each use. I give Gliscor Earthquake for his first attack for nice STAB and hits many types. His only other attack Ice fang I keep just in case I face off those pesky Dragon types. Lastly, I add in Roost to receive even more HP recovery to make Gliscor somewhat annoying. Pokemon Starmie @ Choice Specs Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 252 speed, 252 Special attack, 4 HP Nature: Timid - Hydro Pump - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Psychic Starmie is one of my main sweepers. It has some very nice speed even without the EVs I invest into it. Along with some nice special attack I give Starmie Choice Specs to add a big punch, I think this Specs set for Starmie is the standard and in turn, the best moves for it. Hydro Pump and Psychic being very viable special attacks along with STAB. Though I'm considering swapping Psychic for Psyshock, deals less damage but it hits like Psychic but instead deals damage from their physical defense. Just in case someone sets up a few too many special defense raising moves to where even Starmie only scrapes a few points off. Ice beam is their to annihilate any poor Dragon types that are easily seen in OU and Thunderbolt fills in slot four simply for type coverage. Overall I really like Starmie and he's been doing great so far on this team. Pokemon Scizor @ Occa Berry Ability: Technician EVs: 252 speed, 252 attack, 4 defense Nature: Adamant - Bullet Punch - Bug Bite - Super Power - Swords Dance Scizor is kind of like Gliscor in my opinion, he has some decent defensive bulk but he is more of a attack stacking threat. I add 4 EVs into defense instead of HP just to get a little extra physical bulk. I start setting up Swords Dance as soon as possible mainly when I predict a switch so Scizor becomes a terrifying threat from the get go. The reason I choose Bug Bite over X-Scissor is because one, I can steal and eat a foe's berry (if they just so happen to have one.) Also, it's 60 Base power so it receives a nice boost from Technician along with STAB. Same goes for Bullet Punch over Iron Head along with having priority. I use Super Power just to deal with Steel types along with more coverage. The Occa Berry is on Scizor since it's only weakness is fire which it is four times as weak to it so Occa Berry softens the blow somewhat. I'm somewhat happy with this set but I feel like theirs something else I could add in this set to make it better but I can't wrap my finger around it. Pokemon Conkeldurr @ Leftovers Ability: Sheer Force EVs: 252 attack, 252 speed, 4 HP Nature: Jolly - Substitute - Focus Punch - Stone Edge - Mach Punch A standard SubPunch for Conkeldurr, I'm currently testing him out to see how I like him, right now he's doing...decent. I gave him some investments in Speed just to make him a bit quicker Stone Edge is their for coverage and nice against flying types. Mach Punch for priority STAB and Substitute and Focus Punch for...You probably know why. I'm not sure if I want to try a completely different build for Conkeldurr or stick with this one. Pokemon Deoxys- Defense Form @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP, 252 Special Defense, 4 Defense Nature: Calm - Stealth Rock - Spikes - Toxic - Seismic Toss Deoxys-D is my Hazard Bringer, he has some really awesome defenses so he can take a few blows while I set up a layer of rocks and several layers of spikes. I made Deoxys more specially defensive than physical since most of the time I usually face special based Dark types or special sweepers. Even with the small investment to defense it still easily breaks the 300 barrier. Toxic is in this moveset just to give my opponent yet another problem to face along with hazard damage. My only attacking move is Seismic Toss so Ghost types really wreck this somewhat. I'm not sure if I want to try another Pokemon for my hazards or not but for now Deoxys is doing okay. Any advice, suggestions or help would be really appreciated. Last edited by Terumi Dragura; Nov 4th, 2012 at 1:02:23 AM. Reason: Fixing up to meet RMT Rule standards |
