So I made a mixed ou team. It's a little gimmicky, making use of both gravity and rain, but it really seems to get the job done most of the time. The only problem is that special walls are the bane of my existence. I feel this team would benefit from a good physical sweeper but I am having trouble finding one with good synergy.
Analysis ![]() Death Star (Registeel) @ Leftovers Ability: Clear Body EVs: 130 HP / 192 Def / 186 SDef Nature: Careful(+SpD, -SpA) - DynamicPunch - Zap Cannon - Gravity - Stealth Rock Registeel is my mixed wall/lead, leaning more to the special side. Being able to take both physical and special attacks with relative ease he can often set up gravity or rocks and without dying and can really cripple opposing sweepers with parafusion. ![]() Palpatine (Dusknoir) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SDef Nature: Impish(+Def - Gravity - Will-O-Wisp - Pain Split - DynamicPunch Another mixed wall that functions well as a lead. He leans toward the physical side more. I like him because he can spin block, absorb fighting moves intended for Registeel, set up gravity, and cripple walls and sweepers with Will-O-Wisp and Dynamic Punch. ![]() Roger Roger (Kingdra) (M) @ Life Orb Ability: Swift Swim EVs: 78 HP / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd Nature: Timid(+Spd -Atk) - Hydro Pump - Blizzard - Draco Meteor - Hidden Power [electric] Kingdra is a very potent special sweeper. With gravity up hydro pump and blizzard don't miss, and stab draco meteor plus hp electric provide good coverage. ![]() Sarlacc (Tentacruel) (M) @ Damp Rock Ability: Rain Dish EVs: 180 Def / 42 SAtk / 138 SDef / 148 Spd Nature: Timid (+Spd -Atk) IVs: 30 SAtk - Toxic Spikes - Scald - Rain Dance - Knock Off Tentacruel is a support special wall. With high speed he can set up rain dance and Toxic spikes quickly, as well as absorb them. Scald for stab and burn chance and knock off to get rid of annoying items like choice and life orb. ![]() Luke (Espeon) (M) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Magic Bounce EVs: 76 HP / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd Nature: Timid (+Spd -Atk) - Hidden Power [Fire] - Shadow Ball - Psyshock - Trick Trick Espeon is great at not only blocking hazard, making rapid spin a non-issue, but can also trick choice scarf onto stalls like Chansey making them useless. He can also function as a somewhat decent sweeper. ![]() Vader (Genesect) @ Choice Scarf Ability: Download EVs: 38 HP / 222 SAtk / 248 Spd Nature: Timid (+Spd -Atk) - Hidden Power [Water] - Thunderbolt - Ice Beam - Bug Buzz Genesect is a special sweeper, he has hp water as opposed to flamethrower because it makes good use of the rain boost, bolt beam combo, and bug buzz instead of U-turn because of his monsterous special attack. |

Using Landorus-T over Registeel would definitely help with special walls that trouble you. Landorus has a much better offensive presence than Registeel and still has access to Gravity and Stealth Rock. A spread like 200 HP/64 Atk/244 Def and an Impish nature makes it easy for Landorus to come in and set up Gravity/SR, while making good use of Gravity's grounding effect; it allows Landorus to hit more foes with its STAB Earthquake such as Skarm, balloon Heatrean, Rotom-W and many others.
Kingdra STABs offer all the coverage it needs, with the exception of missing out on Ferrothorn. Since Gravity is harder to maintain than a weather and you're on a timer, definitely Dragon Pulse > Draco Meteor for a more consistent secondary STAB and maybe HP Fire > HP Electric. Empoleon is nothing short of a rarity in OU and that's the only thing I can see HP Electric covering. HP Fire allows a 2HKO on Ferrothorn. I feel like you could afford another Gravity user over Espeon. Whether you take my suggestion or not, none of the three proposed Gravity setters have very reliable recovery. Mew, Jirachi and Chansey/Blissey all have access to Gravity while having Wish/Softboiled/Roost etc. |

thanks for your suggestions, I'll definitely take landorus into consideration. I was actually running hp fire on kindra i just for got to change it back from testing out hp electric, definitely changing to dragon pulse. The only real problem i have with getting mew or jirachi is that I lose magic bounce which was my main reason for picking espeon but i'll try them out and see how they do. I was also considering scarfed heracross since stone edge and megahorn won't miss under gravity.

Definitely keep Genesect over Heracross. Hera's speed is somewhat lacking, and so you'll end up totally tossed about by faster scarfers. Since most scarfers ('Sect aside) don't run +Spe natures, Genesect doesn't have that problem. It also has better coverage.
However, with both Gravity and Rain in play, I'd run Thunder>Thunderbolt on Genesect. Also, because you're running 248 speed EVs, if you see an opposing Genesect you automatically lose. Run 34HP/222SpA/252Spe to speed tie or outspeed other Genesect. Lastly, Kingdra can run a competent physical set of Waterfall/Outrage/Dragon Dance/Substitute. That'll also allow you to function slightly better outside of rain, and get you the physical sweeper you've been looking for.

I have never used a gravity team so i might 8e completely wrong here 8ut this ounds to me like a good idea (the quote) as the intimidate will also make lando t fill a imilar defensive role as your registeel whilst offering much more to the the ta8le in termns of speed and attack

Hi,
Cool team. You're running a fun strategy, but your team doesn't have much synergy. It seems as if it's just Registeel and Dusknoir setting up Gravity for themselves, and then Tentacruel setting Rain for just Kingdra, and then Espeon and Genesect slapped on. I think you need pokemon that work together more- since Espeon and Genesect are not really using your field effects at all, and Kingdra is the only one that actually uses your Rain. With such slow walls in Registeel and Dusknoir, you are also in big danger of being setup on and sweeped by pokemon like SubDD Nite or SubCM Latias. Having a pokemon that can act as a wall, set up Gravity, yet still put out offensive momentum is needed, so that you don't get set up on by punching leads. For this reason, I suggest you run Jirachi instead of Registeel. Jirachi @ Leftovers Calm, 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD Gravity / Stealth Rock / Thunder / Iron Head Classic Jirachi does quite a few things for your team. For one, it's an excellent special wall- it can tank Draco Meteors, Ice Beams, and Psychics all day. It can set up a fast Gravity- that outspeeds most Taunters, unlike Registeel who is easily shut down. Jirachi also solves your problems to Special Walls- as Blissey/Chansey will find themselves parahaxed to death. Thunder is used for Paralysis- and works well in both Rain and Gravity. U-Turn can be used over Stealth Rock if you want to be able to scout and pivot to Genesect or Kingdra for some sweeps. To improve the synergy of your team, I think a few minor adjustments to Genesect would be very helpful. I would use a spread of 4 Atl / 252 SpA / 252 Spe Hasty with a moveset of [/b]U-Turn / Thunder / Flamethrower / Blizzard[/b]. Genesect is the perfect secondary recipient for both field effects present in your team. It can use Gravity and Rain to fire off powerful Thunders and Blizzards- or just U-Turn to wear your opponent down with Stealth Rock. Flamethrower is needed here because of it's coverage- your team has a lot of trouble muscling past the most common walls such as Ferrothorn- and Flamethrower will be able to let you hit them for an OHKO. A boosted U-Turn will hit a lot of special walls hard, helping you a lot in that regard. Good luck! I hope I helped! |

I would say definitely swap tbolt for thunder because under gravity it is 100 % accurate. That's the idea here is to spam those powerful attacks or things like grasswhistle because they will always hit. You should try dusclops @ eviolite even though he doesn't hit as hard his defenses are higher. Also take advantage of pokemon with hustle. Lo hustle zweilous has the most powerful outrage in the game
