Are there any situations where a Pokemon with the Sturdy ability (moves that would kill it in 1 hit will instead leave it at 1hp) will still faint from a single hit?
The reason I ask is because of the fight with Iris. I was fighting her Haxorus with my Magnezone (it has sturdy), and she is able to 1-shot my Magnezone with Earthquake every time. What is the deal here? I was under the impression that Sturdy was a 100% guarantee to survive at least 1 turn. |

Haxorus has Mold Breaker, which negates Sturdy. Burn and Poison are also ways to kill a Sturdy'mon in one hit.

There are also Ttar, Hippo (those two only apply to Pineco and Sawk though) and Abomasnow who can finish opposing Sturdy Pokemon in one turn thanks to weather they bring in however they have to take a hit.
It works like Sludge Bomb + poison or Flamethrower + burn. |
