Default Down south light drizzle

This is my first post on smogon and my first attempt at a competitive team I thought I would try a rain team.

Changes will be in bold

Politoed @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Nature: Modest
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hypnosis
- Focus Blast
Politoed a guaranteed pick for any rain team, with this set up I have enjoyed him quite a bit since hypnosis can disable one of the opposing teams Pokémon mix that with a strong STAB Hydro Pump and Politoed can be a tough little guy, I picked ice beam and focus blast to help deal with dragons and pesky steel Pokémon.
I had tried a defensive set before this and it just didn’t work for me might be because I’m new to competitive battles or it just didn’t fit my style.

Jellicent @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 36 HP / 252 SAtk / 220 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Water Spout
My favourite Pokémon of this team in a great colour as well, with a Choice Scarf she can generally get the first move, with Water Spout being extremely powerful in the rain and a STAB Shadow Ball and she can cause trouble for most teams, I went with Hydro Pump for when she takes damage and Ice Beam to cover some annoying threat, one thing I like about Jellicent is her ability to take a hit as well as deal

Genesect @ Life Orb
Trait: Download
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Bug Buzz
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Rock Polish
With a big weakness to fire being lowered in the rain he is perfect for a rain team, after one rock polish Genesect is one fast Pokémon and can become one tough Pokémon to stop, I went for a common attack choice in Bug Buzz and Ice Beam, since he is in a rain team I picked Thunder over Thunderbolt

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
- Water Pulse
- Thunder
- Calm Mind
- Substitute

Dropped Jynx for Jirachi after I have played a few games I will post my thoughts on her

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Nature: Calm
- Hurricane
- Dragon Tail
- Thunder
- Roost
Dragonite one of my all time favourite Pokémon got in this team because of that but then showed why he should stay in with a powerful STAB Hurricane guaranteed to hit in the rain which makes it tricky for Pokémon to switch in on, Thunder with its 100% hit in the rain is good to deal with bulky water types

Keldeo-Resolution @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power Ice
Keldeo is an interesting Pokémon I saw him and thought that he might work in a rain team and he is good at causing some havoc with the opponents, I went for Hydro pump for a strong STAB that gets powered up by the rain, Secret Sword is also another great STAB to have and with calm mind to boost the special attack Keldeo can really cause problems, I picked Hidden Power Ghost to help deal with ghost and psychic types that might cause problems

Your entire team is special attacking. Special walls wreck this team - the only ways you have to attack physically are Secret Sword on Keldeo and two physical moves on Dragonite. Jynx should be replaced with Toxicroak if you want another Dry Skin pokemon.

Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Dry Skin / Adamant
244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def
-Bulk Up
-Substitute
-Drain Punch
-Sucker Punch

Jellicent is far too slow and offensively weak to make use of a Choice Scarf set - you'd be better off using the more defensive sets and taking advantage of its Water and Fighting immunities as well as using Scald to burn foes.

Came by a fork in the road, and went straight

Hey!

Welcome to Smogon! From my experience, the key to this game is hard work and experience. If you've got the drive, you can do well.

Anyway, onto your team. Interesting sets for sure. The only big concern I have is Jynx. As you'll soon find out, Jynx is a gimmick. It's not fast enough to beat Lati@s, Tornadus-t, Genesect, and all the other powerful OU Pokemon BW2 has to offer. Accordingly, Jynx is going to be KOed before it can even attack. Instead, I think an excellent replacement would be Sub CM Jirachi. It's a great Pokemon, and conveniently it's used in a similar way to your Jynx. Calm Mind and Thunder's Paralysis rate make Jirachi an incredible tank, capable of taking out entire teams.

My next couple suggestions are just touch-ups. I believe Keldeo would be better with Hidden Power Ice instead of Ghost. It hits a much wider array of Pokemon (Dragons, mainly) and will be more useful in your matches. HP Ghost is almost only used Jellicent, but I think your team has Jellicent covered.

Dragonite should definitely had Roost. The Rain Tank is awesome because it can repeatedly switch into Defensive threats and deal out tons of damage. With Stealth Rock being a must-have, Roost will certainly improve your longevity.

Finally, give some thought to Genesect with Life Orb. Rock Polish Genesect is very strong, and sometimes I'm glad I have the extra Life Orb power to finish off Ferrothorn or Specially Defensive Jirachi. It really comes down to longevity vs. immediate power, and you'll have to weight that for yourself. If you find yourself wishing you had a little more power sometimes, definitely give Life Orb a try.

Good luck!

Thank you for the help Relados and undisputed.
I'm going to drop Jynx and try out Jirachi, I have turned Dragonite into the rain tank set, I have given Genesect a Life Orb and changed Keldeo's Hidden Power into Ice
with Jellicent I will try the Choice Scarf a little longer as she seems at the moment to be doing better than a defensive one I used before (might just be because I'm quite low rated on pokemon showdown)

Was not sure on how to edit the first post with the dropping of one of my team, I hope that how I have done it is correct

jellicent definitely does not do well with a choice scarf. i would recommend rather replacing jellicent for a specially defensive set, or switching jellicent to tentacruel. tentacruel can spin, and it can wall pretty well. it can also lay down toxic spikes which can help alot. it abuses rain with rain dish and rain will boost the power of scald. if you do decide to use tentacruel, this is the set i recommend:

Tentacruel (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Bold Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Protect

with this set, you have a spinner, which always helps. you also can lay down toxic spikes which can really help at a lot of times. protect will allow you to get some more health back and stall. scald lets u get burns and it stops you from being completely shut down by taunt. it will also be boosted by rain.

i also recommend adding Tornadus-T. With Tornadus-T, you can really abuse rain with Hurricane. I recommend switching Keldeo for Tornadus-T. I recommend this set:

Tornadus (Tornadus-T) (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Hurricane
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Taunt

It is great against things that come in and try to set up or lay down hazards because of taunt. It is also a great scouter because of Regenerator and U-turn. Superpower is better than Focus Blast because Focus Blast will often betray you with its 70 Accuracy. Obviously we have Hurricane. 100% Accuracy with rain, 120 Base Power, 50% Chance of confusing, and STAB. Yeah, its really good.
