A Question about Showdown Ratings

Hi, people! Starblazer here, and I have a question about Pokemon Showdown ratings:

Is the higher your rating, the better? Or vice versa? Because whenever I win a battle my rating goes down. I don't quite get it.

Next time you'll probably be better off posting here.

Basically, the higher your ACRE value, the higher ranked you are. What did you mean by your rating going down when you win, and do you by any chance have a screenshot of it happening?
