Armor Testing: King Serperior vs. Simon Says

I made my way through the streets of this unnamed city, looking for the location of my next ASB League Reffing. This location was known as "King's Arms and Armor", a laboratory known for it's experiments with armor for Pokemon. Personally, I never saw the need, as Pokemon were powerful enough on their own. Regardless, I finally saw the futuristic building that was to be the arena. I walked inside, showed the attendant my ID, then was escorted to the arena proper. Simon Says and King Serperior were waiting for me, and looked eager to fight. After I got everything set up, I read out the rules, as was my custom.

The Rules said:
4v4 Doubles
LC and/or NFE or any combination of the two.
All items
All abilities
2 Recoveries / 5 Chills
Switch = OK
2 Substitutions
3 Day DQ
Arena: Armor Testing Facility V2
Field Type: All
Complexity: Moderate
Format: All
Restrictions: None except for the Armors

Description:
After cleaning up the mess from the disasterious battle between fellow scientist, King Serperior, and his foe, Glacier Knight, King Serperior scrapped all the armors and ordered his fellow scientists to go back to the drawing board.

After two years of constant research, King Serperior and his fellow scientists came up with newer and better armors......

Before we get to the armors, the arena is an exact replica of the ASB Arena.

When the pokemon are sent in, the ref RNG's which armor is given to each mon.

1). Aero Armor - An oldie, but a goodie. This jet-powered armor adds an extra flying-typing to the wearer and increases base speed by 33%. If the wearer is already of the flying type, then it gains 2X STAB on all of its flying moves and its Flying weaknesses are doubled. It also gains the following moves as long as it wears the armor: Aerial Ace and Air Cutter

2). Pyro Armor - This specially designed armor is made from a synthetic material that automatically catches itself on fire with no harm to the wearer. The wearer gans the ability, Flame Body, while wearing this armor. All contact moves used by the wearer have a 20% chance to burn the foe. The wearer gains use of the moves, Flame Charge and Flame Burst.

3). Blaster Armor - Strong armor with two large cannons are strapped to the wearer. Each cannon has auto-targeting capabiities. This allows the Wearer to use the move Lock On at half its energy cost rounded up after STAB is applied (Note: If mon does not already know the move Lock On, it gains 2 uses via this armor). Each cannon give the wearer offensive capabilities as well in the form of Charge Beam and Bullet Seed.

4). Power Armor - The wearer gains use of an armor that focuses its power into the upper torso and arms of the user. If the wearer lacks arms and legs, this armor automatically unfolds mechanical arms and legs). Physical attacks used against the wearer have their final damage decreased by 2. The wearer of the armor gains the moves, Close Combat and Mach Punch.

5). Heavyweight Armor - After countless retesting and experimentation, this failed and overpowered armor was completely redesigned. The wearer's weight class becomes 12. The wearer cannot use moves that cannot be used in Gravity. The Defense and Sp.Defense ranks of the wearer are increased by 2. The wearer learns the moves, Magnitude and Iron Defense.

6). Reversal Armor - This question-mark covered armor gives the ability, Contrary, to the wearer. It also reverses the type weaknesses and resistenses of the wearer. If the wearer is a fire/bug type, its 4X rock weakness becomes a 4X rock resist. Any immunties that the wearer has are kept. The wearer gains the ability to use Reversal and Mirror Coat.
Once that was done, I then put up on my monitor the two teams that would fight today.

After that, I was given a strange device from one of the scientists. I hooked it up to my reffing setup, and found that this was the armor RNG. I then told the competitors how this was going to work.

Turn order:
King Serperior sends out Pokemon and attaches items
Simon Says sends out Pokemon and attaches items
I RNG the Armor Choices
Simon Says orders
King Serperior orders

I see Maxim walking over to the reffing location and I nod to one of the scientists to give him the RNG device. I activate a small control pad and four of my experiments.....I mean volunteers, roll down a ramp and into a floating platform that hovers to my left. Right before I select the two pokemon that are to be sent out, I hear a beeping noise. I click a button and a hologram of Sarah, my second-in-command.

"Hello? Sir, the Brood Armor is a success. When shall we add it to the program officially?"

"We will add them after this battle ceases. The RNG Device has already been set for the ones we already have."

"I understand. I will record the battle as it unfolds. Sarah, out."

With that, her hologram disappeared and I turned back to the battle.

"Now, Simon, lets begin. Come out, Richter and Jaws."

"Please tell me that I won't be flying again. I am afraid of heights!"

"Well, I just want to burn things."

"Quiet, you two! Just because I gave you the ability to speak, does not mean you may abuse it! Jaws, take this Amulet Coin. I know how you like shiny things. Ritchter, as the results of your last testing was subpar, you will recieve nothing."

"Hi there. I do believe we have not had the pleasure of meeting like this before. I do hope this is an experience for both of us. Bonaparte, take the lead! ?§%@ - dammit, Porygon! Stop glitching my language!"

Oh crap, I completely forgot about this.

Anyways, Armor time:
1: Gible (5/6)=Heavyweight
2: Hippopotas (1/6)=Aero
3: Piplup (4/6)=Power
4: Porygon (3/6)=Blaster

Also, since KS informed me I was supposed to assign armor before you chose your pokemon, I'll give you the chance to rechoose Pokemon.

"The armors are chosen."

Prose said:
The walls and floor opens as many clawed hands carrying parts of armors and other tools.

Richter is lifted by a platform and a tough DuraWeld metal frame is strapped to its body. The frame is quickly covered with sheets of metal as wings are welded and bolted to the sides of the armor. The wings have Turbine-Thrust engines attached. After this process is complete, Richter is lowered to the ground, looking like a Hippo-shaped fighter jet.

Jaws is lifted using a similar platform as thick sheets of DuraWeld are placed over every inch of its body. Hydrolic pistons are attached in order to allow somewhat easier movement in the armor. At the end of the process, the small land shark looks like a Knight.

Piplup is then lifted as a metal vest is bound to its body. The arms are lifted up by small claws as huge mechanical arms ending with fists are bolted to the vest.. By the time the process is over, Piplup is moving like a gorrilla due to the length of the arms.

Before Porygon can have anything strapped to it, an EMP is fired at it in order to prevent any irreversable glitches in the armor placement. After that, Porygon is lifted and a harness is strapped to its back. Two cannons, larger than Porygon itself, are attached to the harness, anti-grav boosters preventing the attachment from tipping over. Finally, a helmet is brought down and placed on its head, a targeting system activating.

"Interesting. Richter, it appears that you may have a second chance to prove yourself in this armor."

"No!! Nonononono!! I will NOT fly!!"

"You will fly, even if I have to activate the remote control feature."

"Ok, HOW does one MOVE in this thing?"

"Oh, this is going to be so much fun."

I feel... Empowered. Can I punch it? | ?!@# ^^

"This does look bad, but I degress, we may be able to handle what we see."

Prose said:
Looking over the circumstances I have been given I question my odds. What is the best option? Eventually, I figure out that Porygon is the biggest threat, if only because of unconsious bursts of electromagnetic pulses. Because Jaws weighes a ton, literally, I calculate that his Take Down attack will do major damane to whom it may hit. Dragonbreath, while not based on the weight of the user, is still a useful technique with little to no drawbacks.

I then look at Richter. His best bet is to go underground and wait until the right moment. This means that he'll dodge the brunt of the offensive. His boosted speed may even give us an edge with the use of Rock Slide.
Richter: Dig (Porygon) ~ Rock Slide ~ Dig (Porygon)
Jaws: Take Down (Porygon) ~ Dragonbreath (Porygon) ~ Take Down (Porygon)

"Ok, Maxim, its been three days since my last bump. I know not what is going on irl, but at 12:00PM tomorrow, I will be calling for a Subref. I have given you more paitent than I give most refs."

*loud noises are heard from behind the reffing booth, like someone smashing something with a hammer.*

"All right, I fixed it. Just had to apply some...concussive maintenance. That's it. Anyways, onto your irregularly scheduled reffing."

After draging Maxim out of the control booth and having a long talk, I determined that he was a poor College student taking up reffing as a side job. I decided to have Maxim pay off the broken sound equipment by working on Saturdays for the next two months cleaning the testing rooms of failed experiments.

"Now that that's out of the way, lets begin anew."

Jaws: Outrage+Outrage ~ raging ~ Raging
sub: If the combo is illegal (Pretty sure it isn't, but I have heard discussion on irc), just use Ourage A1.

Just realized a screw-up I made last round, Hippopotas is a Ground Flying type, so he took more damage from Piplup's Ice Beam last round. I'm going to ref the round anyways, but if you guys have huge objections just ask and I might let you reorder.

Round 2: Mopping up what's left

Ah, hello folks. These nice scientists finally gave me new sound equipment so that I can record this match. I'll recap what's happened, both sides used a ton of attacks and had lots and lots of hax, leaving Porygon paralyzed and King Serperior and Simon Says about even. Let's see what happens this round why don't we!

Hippopotas, loving his speed boost from the Aero Armor, Digs underground for the time being, while his partner charges up a fearsome attack. Unfortunately, that charging is short lived, as Gible bites the dust due to an Ice Beam from Piplup! That's gotta hurt a little. As if King Serperior wasn't having enough trouble, Porygon overcomes his paralysis and Magnet Rises off the ground. It seems we're due for a mi---wait a minute! Hippopotas has just come leaping from the ground, jet engines blazing and tackles Porygon with a Dig attack! What just happened? It seems Simon forgot to account for the fact that the Aero Armor gives Hippopotas the Flying type and thus Magnet Rise doesn't work against it's dig.

Despite the setback, Simon's team tears into Hippopotas, after it gives a hefty Body Slam to Porygon anyways. Piplup deals a lot of damage with a nice Surf attack, but hits Porygon for light damage as well. Porygon however defies the odds and sends out an Everlasting Blizzard combo that absolutely devastates Hippopotas. Guess that Flying typing was a double edged sword wasn't it? Hippopotas just sustained so much damage from that attack that it instantly fainted! As if to add insult to injury, it was also Deep Frozen.

King Serperior is now in pretty dire straits. Simon has a 2 mon lead over him, and his pokemon are still raring to go, can King Serperior hope to win? Stay tuned to find out!
