Hey guys, welcome to the Fakemon Galleria-- the place to talk about your fakemon ideas. Are you the type who likes full creative license? Don't feel like always being restrained by the CAP process? You just want to spout out your unadultered fakemon ideas?
Well, me too. A History: Back in the DPP(t) days, there was no Orange Islands, so there was basically no place to talk about casual Pokemon topics. Despite this, there would frequently be attempts at fakemon topics-- usually with n00bs posting awful OPs like: Dragon + Fighting + Huge Power 110 / 135 / 90 / 120 / 90 / 111 would be totally brokezors~~~~!!!! These threads were obviously immediately deleted, their posters socially scorned, and fakemon topics were completely unacceptable. Beyond being generally poor quality discussion, they were regarded as "completely uncompetitive," and "completely irrelevant to real Pokemon." And thus, completely unsuitable for the elite, competitive community of Smogon (outside goofy IRC chats). However, a few users persisted, and came up with a constructive way to talk about imaginary Pokemon. CAP was born from their efforts-- creating a structured and discussion-focused framework that would force better discussion through strict requirement of community involvement, and established the competitive Pokemon-oriented goal of learning about subtleties of Pokemon through CAP experiments. This thread is not about any of that. With Orange Island, there's no need to worry about filling Stark Mountain with crappy threads about Fakemon. Now, with this thread, I'd like to make a place where people can explore their fakemon ideas with pure creative license allowed by being a casual forum. :D Rules Yes, this thread is still in dire need of rules. We want to maintain some quality control and not make a thread full of what would have been aforementioned crappy, scorned, deleted OPs that littered Stark. I will be strictly looking through this thread, and reporting any violations to an OI mod. So there will be some guidelines: 1) DO NOT POST A FAKEMON WITHOUT COMMENTING ON SOMEONE ELSES The biggest danger to the quality of this thread is becoming an endless spam of ideas with zero discussion. So, you must post feedback on someone else's idea in order to post your own. I am enforcing this basic rule-- but really guys, to make this thread good, we need discussion about people's ideas-- not just mare more fakemon. 2) Comments should be real feedback, and/or theorymoning about how a Pokemon would perform-- 3) In its specified tier. You must specify a tier you would want to see your fakemon in. -Your Pokemon can be totally broken for the specified tier, but if it is, people are likely to just say that and not give you much more feedback. -We will NOT assume that these fakemon will interact-- in theorymoning, only imagine the one Pokemon being discussed, and how it would interact with real Pokemon in the specified tier. 4) Really awesome fakemon with lots of content and thinking-- that fosters lots of response-- will be posted in the OP! Otherwise, I pretty much want to give everyone free creative license. Feel free to: -Post Incomplete ideas and ask for feedback -Feel Free to Post Evolutions/De-Volutions of current mons -Whatever -be creative-- Art / Dex descriptions are a big plus; -Base Stats / Type / Ability / Move only is fine-- but if you can, try and develop an aesthetic concept. That's all for the administrative stuff-- have fun with this guys; I'm looking forward to seeing your fakemons! Let's make this a nice Galleria :D Last edited by Chou Toshio; Apr 16th, 2013 at 8:54:31 PM. |

In any case, I need to start us off because otherwise none of you will be able to obey Rule 1, lol.
So, without further ado: ![]() My first fakemon idea is based on the Mantis Shrimp.
About Mantis Shrimp
So, the Pokemon: Suttoma スットマ Intended Tier: OU (Art Later?)
Name inspiration, Dex Info, basic building goals
Noteworthy Movepool: Physical: -Waterfall -Crab Hammer -Aqua Jet -Megahorn -X-Scissor -U-turn -ExtremeSpeed -Mach Punch -Drain Punch -Cross Chop -Close Combat -Stone Edge -Horn Leech -Return -Pursuit -Night Slash Special -Surf -Signal Beam -Ice Beam -eh... -Trust me, you won't care when you see the base stats... Other -Swords Dance -Hone Claws -Substitute Suttoma: Strike Forme Type: Water / Bug Ability: Compound Eyes HP: 74 ATK: 110 DEF: 105 SpA: 30 SpD: 95 SPE: 116 Total BST: 530
key thoughts/rationale
Sample Set: Suttoma (Strike) @Choice Band -Megahorn -Crab Hammer -Stone Edge / Cross Chop / Close Combat -Extremespeed / U-Turn Suttoma (Strike) @Choice Scarf -Megahorn -Crab Hammer -Stone Edge -U-turn / Cross Chop Suttoma (Strike) @Leftovers / Life Orb -Megahorn -Crab Hammer -Stone Edge / Cross Chop / Substitute -Swords Dance So in every set, Strike form abuses Compound Eyes to throw around powerful, inaccurate attacks. Even with the boost, Megahorn has only a 91% Accuracy, but its mighty power with STAB will smash through many foes. Crab Hammer jumps up to 135 base power in rain, and will be perfectly accurate with compound eyes. Its added critical hit rate is a nice boon too! Otherwise, strike form can abuse many of its other offensive options in Choice sets, or abuse its decent bulk and Speed to set up Swords Dance and really go to town. Suttoma: Smash Forme Type: Water / Bug Ability: Tinted Lens HP: 84 ATK: 142 DEF: 110 SpA: 30 SpD: 100 SPE: 64 Total BST: 530
thoughts, rationale
Sample Sets: Suttoma (Smash) @Leftovers / Life Orb -ExtremeSpeed -Aqua Jet -Swords Dance -Horn Leech / Drain Punch / Mach Punch Best used in rain, this Suttoma set will wreck in the late game. Set up a Swords Dance, and go to town with Tinted Lens ExSpeed + Aqua Jet. The last move is just for coverage, Horn Leech is just for Jellicent: +2 252+ Atk (custom) Horn Leech vs. 248 HP / 216+ Def Jellicent: 358-422 (88.83 - 104.71%) -- 31.25% chance to OHKO Though it can also be used to fuck up any Rotom-W that try to switch in. Drain Punch is for Tyranitar and Ferrothorn (though you might just want to use Close Combat for the sure KO's on both). Mach Punch is an interesting option, but not really needed between ExSpeed and Aqua Jet with Tinted Lens. @Choice Band -ExtremeSpeed -Aqua Jet -Close Combat / Horn Leech -U-turn / Waterfall / Horn Leech Great abuse of Suttoma Smash's power, but without needing to set up. Horn Leech is needed for any way to touch Jellicent, but otherwise you have insane power and coverage. So please give me comments on my mantis shrimp creation :D More fakemons to come! edit: So as you can see from this first post / example, we want fakemon posts that have significant content, and can create discussion. If you want to post a partial poke idea, please post some specifics on what kind of advice you'd like. As you can see, I also used hide tags to try to avoid "wall of text" syndrom-- but fakemons are fun by putting together ideas and content; more ideas and contend obviously = more fun to a lot of people, so let's try to forgive the long posts. Obviously, feedback posts need not be so long. Last edited by Chou Toshio; Apr 16th, 2013 at 9:08:19 PM. |

while i commend you for putting so much thought into a thread, the CAP kitchen thread already exists in CAP and it would be redundant to replicate it here
once again i remind everyone to keep the discussion in orange islands on the pokemon and games that already do exist and not imaginary ones |
