Hey, I'm new to smogon and competitive battling, so please feel free to change it all you want. I do have one pokemon that is not included in OU but I figured it would be all right. I will be using this in single battle random matchup in game and I will try to use it in double too, to see if it could be useful for an official pokemon tournament. Also, I was wondering whether you could use 2 pokemon with the same item in competitive play, because that would change things up. So here goes,
set 1: ![]() Ninjask @ Leftovers Ability: speed boost Nature:impish EVs: 248 HP/236 def/24 speed/ -protect -substitute -swords dance -baton pass I picked him for a good baton pass starter, and takes huge advantage of teams that don't attack right away, for then I can set up a few quick moves with substitute and swords dance, then a baton pass to metagross. Biggest problem is definitely being a taunt bait, for he has no attack moves. He also is extremely susceptible to stealth rock. ![]() Metagross @ Life Orb / Choice Band Ability: clear body Nature: naive EVs: 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed -zen headbutt -earthquake -meteor mash -toxic/telekinesis(to aid articuno)/take down/rock slide (please make a recommendation) I picked him because he is an excellent sweeper, and can take most advantage of Ninjask's stat upgrades. with the speed boost upgrades and swords dance skyrocketing his already outstanding attack, he will be an insane sweeper, no matter if he's life orbed or choice banded. ![]() Articuno @ Leftovers Ability: pressure Nature: impish 248 Hp/236 def/24 speed -Mind Reader -Sheer Cold -rest -ice beam This pokemon I'm the most unsure about. he will be great for finishing off maybe that last Pokemon that Metagross may leave behind, with a mind reader sheer cold combo. However, I may benefit more from a rapid spinner, for my team has a huge weakness to stealth rock. Set 2: ![]() Bronzong @ Light Clay Ability: heatproof Nature: impish EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/8 Def/96 SpD -Reflect -light screen -gyro ball -earthquake This pokemon will be great for setting up a good environment for my baton passer with reflect and light screen, either ninjask or venemoth. He can also serve as a tank for a while, with gyro ball and earthquake to take out opponents. However, I will be extremely susceptible to rain teams with this opener. This is another one I am unsure I should keep. ![]() Venemoth @ Leftovers Ability: tinted lens Nature: bold EVs: 252 HP/4 SpA/252 Spe -Baton pass -Quiver dance -sleep powder -bug buzz Another great baton passer to use. with sleep powder to cripple opponents before setting up couple quiver dances then baton passing. Another one susceptible to stealth rock. quiver dance will be an extremely useful boost for the next pokemon.... ![]() Sigilyph @ Life Orb Ability: Magic Guard Nature: modest EVs: 252 SpA/252 Speed/4 HP -Stored power -thunderbolt -ice beam -roost/calm mind/shadow ball/air slash With stored power leading its moves, it can become extremely powerful with the quiver dances, as its special attack will be doubled and stored power will then do 140 damage. Along with thunderbolt and ice beam to deal with some weaknesses, he becomes an awesome special sweeper. However, I am unsure what to do with his last move. Concluding thoughts: Some glaring weaknesses in this team is undoubtedly stealth rock, which could cripple many of my pokemon, and rain teams when I open with bronzong. The two that I would most like to get rid of are Articuno and Bronzong, as they don't bring a lot to the table, especially articuno, and I am in desperate need of a rapid spinner as it seems. Thank you for all of your suggestions! I will put any changes made at the bottom. Last edited by cam877; Dec 27th, 2012 at 10:50:22 PM. |

Yo there, I got your request.
First of all, Sheer Cold and the other OHKO moves are banned from OU, therefore you have to replacing change Sheer Cold into something or replacing Articuno. Looking your team, I saw that you haven't a pokčmon which baton pass defensive statistics otherwise I suggest you to change Articuno into Mew which without OHKO moves is quite a bad pokčmon in OU. Mew has great defensive statistics and it has Amnesia and Iron Defense to baton pass defensive statistics so it's fine in your team. I will post its set later in this rate. Finally, on Metagross I suggest you to use Thunder Punch in the 4th slot, it's useful to hit the water types which can block your current set. Hope this helped, good luck! Mew's set:

Pretty interesting Baton Pass team you have. Well first I recommend changing that naive nature on Metagross to jolly. Because it's just better than naive. Also I recommend you taking a poke or two out to replace for a poke that can use iron defense/acid armor and amnesia just to help you pass stats more easier. I recommend taking out Articuno for vaporeon/scizor. Both get defense boosting moves, pretty good defense, and good typings. This is my opinion but I don't think it's very smart having a duel screener on a baton pass team. That's what defense boost are for. Another idea is adding Mr.Mime. It's great on any baton pass team. It has Calm Mind, taunt, barrier, substitute, and baton pass. It can block roars, and perish songs. It can set up some calm minds and pass it to sigilyph so it can have 4 attacking moves to increase his coverage. But in my opinion I think you should focus on that sigilyph. Take out metagross, articuno, bronzong, venamoth and use some of the pokes I recommended. If you manage to get all those stat boost to sigilyph then that'll be gg.
