You do realize this is from Gamefreak, broadcast all over the world directly from them at the same time (i'm assuming all over with the way everyone's talking/ fact it's like a Nintendo direct from what i'm hearing) and the fact that an announcement like this is actually a high probability of something worthwhile? It's definitely going to be something noticeable, though I hope for more than a 6th gen. 6th gen would be ok...but they can go so much bigger with this, and I rather want something bigger than just another gen. Most likely another gen but I'm hopin.

It has to be said though, now they want us to share the announcement with our friends and family. I can't remember a game since red and blue with this much hype around it, so I think it can be only one thing:
The pokemon series is ending.

Anyway, Masuda is pretty hyped for the announcement, it can't be something like a spin-off or a lame Japan-only giveaway, right?

At this point I can only think of three possibilities
1)Extremespeed Genesect
2)a new Eeveelution
3)Kyurem's true form from before the split is finally revealed

Highly doubtful of any of these after the recent, non-rumor based links posted here. Oh and you know the possibility of DLC for BW2 suddenly.

Now, I think there are 3 options (Ranked in most likely)
1. Eeveelution (Gen VI)
2. Specific pokemon thing (ex Extreemespeed Gene or Volt Tackle Emolga)
3. RSE Remakes

I'm still hoping for the Zek/Reshi/Kyu Original Dragon Forme. At least just to see how it's designed.
Zek & Reshi are beautiful, the Kyurem forms are kinda messy; how will they all look like combined?
A radically different dragon? Or an even bigger mess? XD
I have a feeling they'll never show that, and that's kinda fine by me.

What if the new release is BW3! Trilogies are still in fashion, just look at The Hobbit ;p

What are they going to do with Unova for BW3? They already have practically completed the map, added in as much as they can into the different towns, cities and villages. You can get almost every legendary and the gym leaders have moved on. The next game would just get far too repetitive.

As was pointed out by some other guy another place in the forum (or perhaps in The Smog), the cover legendaries are usually way more ornate and colourful (in other words: messy) than others. They are made to stand out on the game shelf, and make new buyers think: "Oh, what a cool monster! I want that game!". This has been the trend since.... well... RBY, mostly. I guess this can also be applied for Pokémon to star in movies and appear on movie posters. They have all been big, menacing-looking, ornate Pokémon. Except for Celebi and Manaphy.

If the Original Dragon is a cover legendary, or is to star in a movie, it won't look simplistic. Simple as.

And actually, like you, I'd be perfectly content if they never showed the Original Dragon. All franchises need a good mystery, a legend among the fans. And "TM28 Tombstoner" isn't really enough. Never revealing the Original Dragon would be a nice way to say that "there will always be more to Pokémon than we will show you".

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why the movie is called ExtremeSpeed Genesect. It's not like that's a common word in English (don't know if the Japanese equivalent is) and it creates a strong implication that Genesect should know ExtremeSpeed. It would be pretty cool especially with his ability to pick up Attack boosts just by switching in. But obviously that wouldn't be the basis of a 10 minute long worldwide presentation.

The movie title is "Shinsoku Genosekuto" and Shinsoku is ExtremeSpeed's japanese name in game.

I think the Pokemon universe has too much intensity in all it's games. I understand that for a game's storyline to be exciting, getting legendary god-like monsters involved is a pretty good pillar. But one day I really want to play as the small guy. Not as a bad guy grunt or anything like that, but just as a trainer. Someone who's going on their adventure with Pokemon. I want it to be a big deal when I catch a Pidgey, and I want it to look damn well beautiful when I travel along a wild forest path to the next village. One of these days I hope to be able to play as myself. The main games do a good deal of allowing you room to imagine the character is you, but I know if we were all Pokemon trainers we wouldn't be running into the same legendaries as our next door neighbor!

I know a Pokemon MMO styled game is unlikely to happen any time soon (if at all), so I'm just excited to see what they have to show which Gamefreak thinks is the best direction for Pokemon to take next.

Cool, so it's definitely alluding to the move in both languages. A few Pokemon have ES as an event move (Zigzagoon, Entei) so I guess Genesect will join their ranks.

Well, we're less than an hour away from the announcement. New Pokemon are enough to get me excited but the level of hype from Masuda et. al has gotten me hyped too.

My 3DS is ready.

I'd love to see an RSE remake. Despite the waters, it was my favourite region and it would be great to have a 3d rendition of Emerald, especially the Kyogre-Groudon-Rayquaza showdown.
